I was walking the kids around the local nature reserve lake the other day when a polish lad stopped me and asked me to take a pic of a common heโd just caught, he released it to. Nice lad shows thereโs some eastern euros catching them for the sport.3 points -
MOST rigs are an alteration of a basic braided knot less knot rig learn that and you can adapt it to make most of the rigs out there to using different materials hooks etc3 points

oh er missus , remember no swearing on here ! Didn't ask for your location , why would I do that . I'm just interested in the stretch of water you saw the EE's thats all hardly asking you to hand over state secrets LOL.2 points -
I've recently started carp fishing and been using bought rigs as it seems a minefield. Now want to tie some simple rigs like those I've bought but confused on what hooklink material I should buy as a general purpose rig base while I learn the ropes. Stiff, semi stiff, soft, coated, fluro or mono?1 point

I've recently become a fan of distance sticks tbh, having fished without them for years I was sceptical but I've never fished so accurately Ngt ones ยฃ8.95 money well spent in my opinion1 point -
Thanks Commonly I'll take a look. Framey I noticed it seemed to be variations and wanted to start there. Just confused by the choice of materials Crusian I've used several and caught on the local pond with them. All from different makers. Mainly pva bag rigs, hair rigs, combi rig and multi rig . I'll check what line they are using1 point

Hello Lorez , which bought rig gave you most confidence / best hook holds ? . Why not take that rig and then buy the components to tie that rig yourself , unless it looks particularly tricky / costly , and you would be better off just buying ready mades ? . Personally I have never liked tying up rigs , I always seem to be putting it off ! . ๐1 point

mark the line with a power gum stop knot or line varnish after hitting the clip first time around Then you can either go around distance sticks or walk the line out or even cast and wind back to the mark and re clip1 point

My go to hooklink, many uses for different presentations. https://www.tacklebox.co.uk/lines/hooklink-materials/rig-marole-hydrolink.html Perfect combi rigs, I use a splits hot where I strip the fluro from inside the braid๐1 point

Why go fishing to get drunk and high. If that's what you want to do just do in a safer environment. Save the fishing for when you actually want to fish. It is sad and tragic for his family and friends but if you spend the night by the water drunk and high your asking for trouble.1 point

After growing up in a high crime and drug area with the sort of problems most smaller towns and cities are seeing today my views on drugs are similar to elmoputney. Cannabis should be sold with the same regulations as booze, with restrictions in place on THC content, i think the 97 percent THC extracts you can get in the USA are just silly, Drugs like Coke and amphetamines should not be legal they cause way too much harm. LSD and real MDMA not the synthetic stuff should also be regulated and sold to adults if they wish to use such things. Heroin addiction should be treated as a health issue and not a criminal thing at a user level. i would go as far as providing petty criminals that use theft to fund their addiction with supervised heroin use, taking long term addicts out of the black market, the vast majority of new heroin users are introduced to the drug by other users. it would also cut the number of street prostitutes back by a considerable amount as they only work the streets to fund a very serious drug addiction, the same thing was tried in Switzerland and had a positive result in cutting crime. Just my opinion not looking for a debate.1 point -
Angling Death

Another angling death on Sunday: https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/news/chantry-park-ipswich-suffolk-closure-for-body-found-1-6270782 Anyone who knows me, via here or Facebook knows how often I walk round the park with my dog. The air ambulance was just taking the body away as I was walking my dog round the park lake on Sunday morning. Two police officers inside the police tape on the bank footpath with bivvy inside as well. I had actually walked Sky around the park at 23.30 the night before, doing a 'patrol' against poaching and taking of fish, and I know darn well the 'angler' concerned was drunk and 'smoking'.0 points -
Starting to wonder if my day ticket lake has had it. There were reports of otter kills a few years ago (unfenced) anyway, I've noticed over the last 2 years catch rates have dropped, but also the number of people fishing has dropped. On a weekend if you wasn't here by 6am you wouldn't get a swim, people would be queuing outside the gates waiting for it to open. In the winter on a weekend the lake would be half full easily. anyway, I would say the last 5 or so times I've been here this summer it has been practically empty with 2 maybe 3 people fishing. Theres something going on I reckon ๐ค0 points
