Fishing an old, unfished lake
Its-grim-up-north and 3 others reacted to welder for a topic
Unless you try you'll never know, Teo. Got to be worth a go. Personally, I'd pop into the nearest frozen food outlet and buy several bags of sweetcorn, cheap as you like and almost always effective. I'd bait up a few margin spots quite heavily and let the feeding fish clear some of the weed. Then I'd fish these cleared spots with several grains of corn on a hair rig. Ian.4 points -

Best of luck mate... look forward to seeing some French units in the catch reports . Just booked a lake for early October, drive & survive this time for me ,unlike back in early spring . Can't wait especially as there's some big commons to try a trip up . Not sure I would of had my bait turning up the day before though .... maybe bring it forward a day or two , just to be safe ?2 points -

Tackle I'd like to see invented?
Donnygooner reacted to Dicky123 for a topic
I would like to see a "Stalking Umbrella" 35-40'' maximum size, with a good sharp spike pole. Light and made of quality materials. WHY? Well, in summer it's the odd heavy shower that catches me out. I don't take all my rain gear as most is winter orientated. So to be able to carry a small umbrella, light just to cover me and my chair would be great. Also the sun in summer, acting as a nice shade area over my head and arms. In winter I wear all my winter gear, quality stuff but still a heavy shower can get it all wet and heavy. A light brolly just to keep the odd shower off for an hour or so? Would one be of interest to you guys? How much, well I'd pay £50-£70 if the quality was good. I have tried taking a normal umbrella, but holding it all the time does not work, it needs a good lite spike.1 point -

Angling does indeed mean different things to different folks but you can't redefine the meanings to suit .1 point -
Stalking or static?

Stalking is not setting up and waiting for fish to return after several hours 🙄🙄🤔🤔 Thats called prebaiting or setting a trap.......... stalking is finding a fish,be it feeding or not and attempting to catch it.......... or am I missing something here 🤔🤔🙄1 point -

Maize, chick peas, kidney beans and peanuts........ if it’s never been fished I wouldn’t even consider a boilie...... no need. Just a word of warning tho mate,if you do use said baits make sure there fully prepared. If you want to make a few margin spots in the weed give it a rake and get some wheat and groats in...... they will clean an area off nice for you and all the above are very cheap and carp love em. Let us know how you get on,mate. 😬😎🎣1 point -

Angling means different things to different people, I don't think it's stupid wanting more lightweight things like a brolly for when it rains that is small and light that you can set up to stay dry that you don't need a quiver to carry or hold all day , and when you get older you don't want to be crawling on your knees all day or sitting on a damp Bank for a while you just want a little comfort, mainly because you want to enjoy your fishing not go home with a bad back,or aching knees or whatever. I just think you can't always be that hardcore if it stops your enjoyment in fishing, Each to there own I say1 point -

Its clear you have don every little yourself, because even when stalking you have to sit and wait. Sometimes for several hours, the fish often move off, but can come back, it's like all fishing a waiting game. Stalking can mean "finding the fish" then you have to bait and wait. Do yourself a favour and try it sometime. You would find a small umbrella would come in handy, just like I've mentioned, you need to be more open minded sometimes? Stalking simply means (to me) that you find the fish before hand, but on dull or cloudy days, rough weather, it's not always possible.1 point -

Like everything in life, we need new challenges to keep focused. I love carp fishing, but is normal to get hours in the bank without that massive run that make us crazy. Sometimes I left my "heavy" equipment at some, and go to the lake with my fly rod. Is amazing fishing carp and some barbel with a so lightweight material.1 point

Lake Beauregard............
chillfactor reacted to smufter for a topic
Two weeks today and we'll be on our way!! Surprising how quickly it comes round..... Have the preceding week off work so will have plenty of spare time to check, double check and possibly even triple check before packing everything away. All batteries charged for the bait boat, alarms etc. Tie a few rigs up, bait ordered for delivery the day before we set off, can't wait. Three of the lads going are popping their French cherries so you can guess how excited they are lol!! Cushty!!!!1 point -
Hi Jack don't know if you are on a wind up here mate, but you started three threads on this same topic on another forum and have received plenty of advice and answers. Your response last night was... "Definitely going for a big lake now just deciding on whether to have weed guards and rig release fitted" You've either made your mind up, our you haven't??? 😱😱😱1 point

https://www.amazon.co.uk/imuto-Portable-Charger-20000mAh-External-X4-Black/dp/B017U9ANJQ That's the one I got, it does say that it would only charge an ipad air 1.2times though so may not be ideal for tablets, but it's fine for my phone, it is a little old now so there may be newer better ones out there1 point -
