Practise makes perfect mate, tie a few even with some mono if you don’t want to lose braid you’ll soon get use to the size of loop you need and the break in the coated braid is too big just a small nick is all that’s need. Before you know it you’ll be doing loops just big enough to get round your hook and have a nice well presented multi-rig. 90% of my rigs are multi-rigs I have total faith in them and have been using them for around 4 years. They are a decent bottom bait rig,as well 😉😎🎣2 points -
You will learn very quickly on St Ives that for the sake of a hook stop that's worth about 10p it is not worth working around little mistakes. Just start again mate. Not worth it. p.s. you're right, the first hook stop is upside down. Those lakes are not easy. 'Close enough' with any aspect of your fishing is not good enough imo. Cut the hook stop off and do it right or start again from scratch bud, it's a 5 minute job.2 points

Right I’m with ya now Yonny. Don’t think ive ever been done on a multi I’ve always either caught or not. Can’t do it no harm with a hook bead tho....... every days a school day eh 😉😬😎2 points -
It can't move on the cast, there is no vector to move the hook. However, if you get done, the hook can move freely which will ruin your presentation and it's likely you'll not know about it. A resetting rig is a must for me.2 points

I'm trying these out at the moment Ian, as the lake we're visiting in July has a barbless only rule. I originally ordered the wide gape version, but am put off by the angle of the point so have now ordered some straight points. But you're right............. they are seriously sharp.2 points

Harpz, you might want to take a look at the Pallatrax Gripz range, too. Seriously sharp hooks! I spent a weekend tying rigs for an upcoming trip to France with them. My fingers have stopped bleeding now...…….. Ian.2 points

you wpn't regret it. cracking bait on its own and it certainly won't harm your catch rate being glugged or gooed1 point -

For sure @elmoputney, I don't use the multi a lot but it's no secret it's a fantastic rig. Perfectly suited to weedy waters in the area you're fishing too👍1 point -

I tie up a lot of rigs usually until they become second nature I find it's the only way to learn about how it works, what I think I like about the multi rig is the fact it should spin and hook more takes, I got done a few times by bream the other weekend so improvents can be made this looks like it could work better1 point -

Good man, looking much better mate👌 I think we all know when something is not 100% right. It's those that act on that that catch the kippers👍1 point -

I’m sure I read on here many moons ago that one of the members called it a day after watching the underwater stuff and took up fluff chucking because he couldn’t get his head round how many times we get done.🙄🙄😂😂 Them pesky carp can sometimes be one step ahead 🙄😬😎🎣1 point -

Agreed you only need to look at underwater footage to realise we get lucky only a few times ! But as I’ve said I’ve never reeled in with the D moved it’s always been in the set position and I use 4/6 hooks myself Vic1 point -
I can guarantee you lads, we get done regularly on ALL rigs 😫1 point

I'm normally using size 4s or 5s which means the eye is large enough to allow some minimal movement. I also get paranoid it might move when hitting the water, leaving me with a rig that isn't effective and me leaving it out for 12hrs+.1 point -

I use a bait screw on mine, when I’ve had a take I just reposition the D check the hook and put it out again. Can’t see how you need hook beads or am I missing something here mate. 🤔1 point -

with the hook bead yes, or if you pull in to weed, but 99% of the time its reels in as it went out on a blank session. i've found that after a take though the hook beads get loose so you have to replace them regularly.1 point -

Found a new lake to guest at this evening. Was looking at a likely spot when the fish decided to put on a show for me. Saw a total of 6 carp in about half an hour, one of them was a lovely dark mirror, probably a high 20. Just gotta work out a route to get my gear down there without being seen . And take some sheers to make a swim.1 point

Trent Baits SSD PRO9. I use Trent for all my boiled baits. Their Freshwater Shrimp is the best bait I've used, it's a bit special. But it's a fishmeal.1 point
