Lee Gray Posted November 22 Report Posted November 22 Good evening. I'm just trying to figure out what mainline is the best to get. About 2 months ago I was using Daiwa sensor 15lb. I will keep to 15lb, but I don't like Daiwa sensor. Quote

I used Daiwa Sensor in brown for years, it casts lovely, although it needed replacing fairly regularly, often twice a year or more. The brown is softer and more supple than the clear. On the Sensor clear, it doesn't knot as easily or tidily as the brown, but from a friends experience he said that it stands up to damage and 'overstretch' better than brown. I would probably have stayed with Sensor if it wasn't for Gardner Pro line. I was given a sample to test before it's release. It has pretty much been on my reels ever since in either light or dark. Every time I get new line, I replace it with the same. jules007 1 Quote

jules007 Posted November 23 Report Posted November 23 I used to use ESP Crystal but just cant get it now, shame, i tried a couple of lines and ended up using budget NGT camo line having done a few pull to break tests using digital latching scales it does seem to hold up to stated BS and is thinner in diameter than a lot of lines, can get bulk spools for about £9 posted, im now happy with this product Quote
elmoputney Posted November 23 Report Posted November 23 Most Gardner line is decent tbh, My preference is for gt80+ although I do like hydrotuff also commonly 1 Quote

kevtaylor Posted December 3 Report Posted December 3 My mate used Diawa Sensor for 20+ years but within the last few he's said it's changed and not good, I've used it and thought not good. As Elmo says anything Gardner seems to be a winner! Higham1987 1 Quote

I've not used it, it's meant to be good but I switched to 12lb Gt80+ which is 0.35mm line and essentially the same B/S as 15lb GT HD, it casts well, sinks well, highly abrasion resistant and low stretch which I believe is also GTHD main selling point. commonly and kevtaylor 1 1 Quote

I think I'm using the GTHD now - seems good like it so far, I was supposed to be renewing the GT one that Yonny recommends, can't remember it's blooming name but that was good also just couldn't find any in stock the second time. Is HD it's replacement? You'll know this obvs 🤣🤣🤣🙃 yonny 1 Quote
kevtaylor Posted December 3 Report Posted December 3 (edited) Hydro Tuff that's the name - I remembered, is it sad that I'm celebrating my brain working 🤣 Edited December 3 by kevtaylor yonny, elmoputney and commonly 2 1 Quote

yonny Posted December 3 Report Posted December 3 Main difference lads, GTHD is prestretched so great for casting but less abrasion resistance. Hydrotuff is the all out snag line so crazy good abrasion resistance, but still manages to cast ok and is still responsive. Gt80 somewhere between the two. All great lines.
