skelly23 Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Im going down there for a night this week, can anyone give me some advice on what swims to head for! I was thinking of having one on the bag and one on the method and feel my way into the swim! advice would be appreciated Quote
mrbudgie Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 did a day 2 weeks ago had five all around 8 to 13 lbs. i was on the boards about 20 pegs down from boats, anything halibut flavoured seems to catch best for me at drayton. Quote
shabar2000 Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 I have heard that the carp at drayton have very bad mouth damage. Any thoughts? Quote
skelly23 Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 yeah mate, probably 95% of the carp in there have mouth damage, I did 36 hours on there before christmas and had loads of fish of the dam wall, biggest was only 14 mind you Quote
bowza Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Hi Anyone know when or if they plan to repair the damaged closed off Dam wall pegs at Drayton, I would guess less than half the pegs along the wall are fishable, are any of the main boards either side damaged or unsafe. Thanks Bowza Quote
marcusharding Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 im always hearing about how theres a 40lber in there!! is this true? because i cant think how there could be cuz there is so many carp in the reservoir!! thanks Quote
syddallj Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 There may well be a 40lb'er in there but you have to wade through some 50,000 smaller ones to get to it! Quote
beza26 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 I heard there was a common in there around 44lb apparantly. Then when i fished it in winter last year i asked the baliff and he nearly wet himself laughing Don`t think its true somehow. Quote
beanz Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 I heard there was a common in there around 44lb apparantly. Then when i fished it in winter last year i asked the baliff and he nearly wet himself laughing Don`t think its true somehow. on the other hand, iv met a few bailiffs that think the is a 40 in their pond cause it did a 30 years back " it'l be 40+ son".........yeah right the were carp in drayton before they stocked it, so i dont see why the couldnt be, wouldnt have thought many fishing there would have been set up to land it so it may have been caught a few times , just not banked.or maybe not....all adds to the mystery Quote
leggs007 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 i was fishing when there when a couple of low 30's came out but with the amount of bait that go's in there i wouldn't be surprised to see 40's come out in near future Quote
blandy Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Anyone been lately? if so what does it fish like this time of year? considering going up there in a few weeks but have heard mixed storys really Quote

blandy Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 What time do they open the gate at Drayton can't remember as long time since I've been Quote
bowza Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 i hope they open at 6.30 as i'll try and be there for then on Monday come rain or shine Bowza Quote
syddallj Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Going by the forecast I think it may be the rain! Quote
bowza Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Well I said I would update, got to the car park for 6.45 no daughter with me as it was probably too cold for her, I walked round the left hand side to peg 88, it has a large bivvy area just behind it and a good mark using bouy no 4, traffic cone so I spoded out about 10-15 spods in a area to both sides of the bouy and about 10 yards short of it, I put my rods out with small pva mesh bags as well. Blanked, not a bleep, no one else was getting a run either, at around 14:30 I packed up and went back to car , ah well another day needs to be planned, cant wait for my other lake to re-open from close down. wind was comming over the damn wall and cold rain most of the day, small amount of sleet around 9am, Still it was relaxing beats a day in the office Bowza Quote
leggs007 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 you should have waited a bit even in summer the fish don't start really getting on it till 3-4ish Quote
bowza Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Leggs if truth be known , I threw my gear on the barrow still rigged up, with the intention of fishing the damn wall near the car, but lack of coffee and anything else to drink, plus my iffy tummy , it went in the car after a quick visit to the porta loo felt rough for the last few hours, all started Sunday morning when I woke up, hope it clears for weekend need to get out for another session somewhere, my try stanwick lakes mallard Bowza Quote
blandy Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 not good then dunno whether to bother on sat now as taking my dad along for the first time as he's never caught a carp bigger than around £4 so thought where better to catch than Drayton but dnt wanna put him off by blanking. Descisions Descisions lol Quote
bowza Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 I would still give it a go, but plan a more afternoon session rather than an early one Bowza Quote
blandy Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 if we do go itll be early and stay all day as dnt wanna risk getting up there later on and not being able to park as done that once before drove for 2 hours to get there then couldnt park lol Quote
bowza Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Ouch , how far do you travel from to get there? Bowza Quote
leggs007 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 if you get there early enough head for pegs around the 90's fish long in day with small bags or method and short after 2ish i just chuck my bait in as far as will go under arm and just fish over it, corn and pellet work really well, there is also another peg thats a flyer but if i told you that i would have to kill you Quote
calamity_carper Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 you should have waited a bit even in summer the fish don't start really getting on it till 3-4ish ye i find this aswell...... dont get a bleep from 7 when u get there and then at 3ish all hell breaks looseand u wished u only brough 1 rod Quote
