  1. Your not wrong.... let's hope a few of us can get to meet up this year. I'll have a chat with Mick when I see him next .
  2. I'll get the sticks out if there's anything really interesting... or leave a marker out before we fill it up . Will be pretty uniformed tbh though. Makes netting a lot easier in the future.
  3. Will be a pretty uniformed bottom, But There will be the odd thing to to take note of I'm sure , 😉 the spot within the spot 😁 Cheers guys .... started clearing the ground the last couple of days .
  4. Hopefully start a project with a mate that will see fishing local to me again , after everything local to me was wiped out by otters . Probably end up as a little syndi. Got to be dug first though! Good luck all for the season ahead & look forward to seeing the catches start rolling in 😎
  5. Nick, put some photos up years back of a pile of pellet that was dumped in the margin . Killed the lake bed as it rotted down , left in bare . Point being lots of items lobbed in lakes in high quantities have the ability to cause the effects you mention , if they weren't eaten or disturbed . Not a salt user myself so not trying to defend anything. Really good read so far 😎
  6. I was always of the thinking if you are to use salt then early spring is the time ?, as Yonny mentions they seem to need it after losing condition a bit through winter . Was chatting to someone years ago who watched carp dig out a huge hole after he primed it a few time with sticks of rock salt . So they defiantly search it out if on offer at the right time of year .
  7. Seasons greetings .... hope you all have a good one 😎
  8. I use 4 mags & for me defiantly the best choice of wheel for these alarms.
  9. Thanks mate .... hope all is well your end 😎
  10. Great goal muft the build up & the finish .... had a brilliant view of the goal as most of the action was down our wing in the first half. Was the best game I've ever seen live mate that's for sure . Agree mate .... was a special trip . First time we've all been abroad together as a family too .
  11. Just back from 4 Days out in Barcelona, with the family celebrating my 40 th . Had a great time took in a lot of the sights. But most importantly went to the game Saturday. Eddie was blown away as was myself & Kate at the stadium. Messi hat trick & a great game ending 5-2 just topped it off . Defo can recommend it to anyone who likes there footy 😎
  12. Never felt the urge to give one a kiss myself either 😘🙈
  13. Looking back I reckon my best results came from baiting a matching pellet to my boilie. Was using baitworks at the time & they do a pellet from the same mix. Was mixing a few chops of boilie in with the pellet. The pellet would break down even in the coldest of water leaving lots of food signals but not to much to actually get there fill . On the day it was a judgment to bait straight away or not depending on activity. Not a fan of baiting over there heads in winter , as they might spook for the day . I had 3 spots baited one for each rod , & offering slightly different options ie depth / Sun/ shelter etc .
  14. Great advice by all & not much to add tbh . If you can bait a little a day or two before fishing... don't get carried away just enough to let them know there's a little fresh food on offer . Then on arrival just bait a little again before getting the rods out . Once you find bite time on your lake in winter you only really need to go a couple of hours either side of that window , as above either side on lunch time.
  15. Always surprises me how quick tigers dry back out too & dehydrate , back to an unprepared state .
  16. May as well stevo .... Mick had some of his best fishing , while off for the same reason . There's no substitute for time on the bank & no better way to recover.
  17. Fair play stevo certainly getting in amougst the toothy critters 🎣
  18. Been a good read this . Reminds me of a funny story from a c.com social years ago . A fair bit of drink was involved , which ended up with Lewis forgetting to put his leads on when he cast out for the night ..... needless to say he wasn't on his spots when he reeled in late morning 😅
  19. Spot on ..... I've had nothing but poo going on since coming back from France, hence not posting much . Thoughts & respect to all you guys . Keep on keeping on .
  20. All this info your gathering will all fall into place over time , just make mental notes on what's going on . Personally I would of moved as you could of always moved back. Over the years I reckon the moves that of paid of the most are the worst weather conditions to do so 😅 & we all sit there thinking do I really want to up sticks in this 😁
  21. Upper 40 common in the sling looks over 45 ..... pb common . Absolutely buzzing what a scrap ! 😁 Will get it weighed in a bit 😎
  22. Well today it became apparent why we've struggled all week , biggest hatch of damsel fly's I've seen . So should think the carp have been pre occupied with the emerging/ changing nymphs. Just bad timing ... been scratching my head all week & I think I found the answer today.
  23. The weather this week so far just hasn't let up blustery & wet non stop which is really ruining my rowing holiday 😁 I've moved again today to area where you just wouldn't want to present a bait , but I spooked a few carp in the silt earlier on this morning out in the boat while trying to work out my next move . So I've packed up in the wet & gone for it , right up the other ending the lake, couldn't find any feeding spots to speak of so just going to fish into the deep silt .
  24. Gutting mufty ... Lost a couple of fish over the year . Where a mussel had clamped on my line , & as the fights gone on .... ping . One of them was a lump at st John's proper gutted, still am now you've reminded me of it lol .
  25. So am I mate 🤞 Proper mission getting it back out 250 yard paddle in a boat with a head torch 🚣‍♂️
