  1. Someone, just could of got it all wrong on the cast Nick ? Was this a c.com social by any chance πŸ˜‚
  2. A mate would of called first to let you know the fish are on your bait , it then would of been your call to make , but as you were obviously heading up there. You would of told him to find his own fish lol ! Prebaiting is always a difficult one , we've all fished someone else's prebaited spots without knowing that's for sure , probably accounts for more red letter days than we would like to admit 😜
  3. My mates Staff years ago swallowed a rig . 400 Β£ op to get it out . The vet did say that if it's made it to the stomach without getting caught up, the hook would be dissolved quite quickly. But Bill didn't want to take the chance & after xrays decided to pay for the op .
  4. With everything going on with the house leading up to my French trip last week , it was all left rather last minute on a lot of things . And a quick dash to my mates tackle shop was all I managed. Needed some size 2's & all he had in stock were the ridgemonkey selection! They know what I'm like when it comes to tackle especially hooks , but after pooley assured me that these were the Ace hooks just rebranded & he uses them him self I went for them . Well safe to say I was well impressed with them , the one hook did me the 50 lber 45 / 46 & it still was good to go , fishing locked up & giving it stick in the lillies so gave them a proper test , banging hook holds, didn't blunt on the lillie stems couldn't find fault with them tbh . Had a battle with a cat which will always test your end tackle too . I used the straight point pattern & would happily recommend them
  5. Yes mate been to a lot over the years & osteopaths , I've found acupuncture to help me the most . I've had MRI scan & basicly my bottom 3 disks have had had it & I Will be in for back op when I can't put up with the pain any longer & older to young at the moment apparently . Will have a look at that machine, if it's the one I'm thinking of I've had them used on me in the past , size of a small fist & works up & down the spine kneading it as it goes .
  6. Combination of things I think mate .... 12 hour drive there , Bivvy life , lifting heavey fish , weather turned so I was in the Bivvy a bit more too , And my back is knackered Tbh from Years of abuse in the building trade . Did ease up , but the drive back wasn't easy & painfull .
  7. Gutted for you mufty mate 😣
  8. Sounds like a bit of a social somewhere to me Mate? 😎 Book it now she can't go back on it then πŸ˜‚
  9. Best of luck mate .... I've been using two 20mm hard hookers tipped with half 18mm pop up.... with a good inch & half between hook & bait , standard knotless knot . If there's Poisson Chat in The lake get on hard baits straight away they nail anything soft . & will save wasting any time. Tight lines mate , on my last day now .... still time for a monster carp 😎
  10. Ended up being a bit hectic last night with two 30 lb carp & a 35 lb cat , all coming within a few hours off a spot I've been baiting all week but not had a sniff from , so glad I kept a rod on it . As I nearly didn't last night !
  11. Cheers mate .... always nice when it pays off . Hope it will do me some more now , as I don't think the common was the unit that crashed out .
  12. Paid off too ... lovely common just shy of 30lb 😎
  13. To late mate , just stuck rod in there myself πŸ˜‚, after hearing a unit crash out somewhere down the right hand margin . Looking dead after that big temp change though, just hoping for another chance on one of the rods 🀞
  14. Decided to drink & bosh pain killers & get on with it πŸ˜‡ . Had a re think on the swim moved things about . Put two rods tight on the spot that's done me fish . One rod on the margin spot I lost one from last night . And set up a forth on a spot to my left that I've been baiting since Saturday but not had any joy from , one of those where you just to have a rod on just in case now.... you know what I mean . On an upside my arm feels better πŸ˜‚ Thanks for all the encouragement & banter lads. Feels like the c.com of yesteryear 😎
  15. Well today ended up being a right off... Sat eating my breakfast roll , reach down to get a wipe to clean the egg off my chops & ping my back goes into spasm !!! So couldn't even drive to get supplies . The owner had some tramadol so reeled in boshed one & have only just come round lol , still in a lot of pain but has eased a little . Had to hire a boat as I can't cast long now absolute nightmare lads . If I'm lucky enough to catch another it will be a mat shot 😁
  16. Already has dropped massively mate ... really cold here today & wet which could turn to snow , hailed in the night , got drenched playing that one I lost. Is looking like two very different half werk sessions. We are off to the super market after breakfast so thinking cap firmly on buddy .
  17. Just heard off my mate .... He's got a 49 in the net , ended up in his pants out in the lillies to land it in the dark 😁 that will teach him to have me on April fools day πŸ˜‚
  18. Funny I did make that change yesterday evening mate after sitting/ watching & trying to work out where they might want to be .... the weather was due to change over night. Wet & cold windy NE , I baited up down my left margin where it will be sheltered from it . Did me a take too but I lost it after a short battle with it in the lillies !!! Nearly got it right !!! . They definitely seem to have moved off from where I had them from though , so more thinking needed today , just waiting for the sun to come up & see what today brings .already on my second brew proper carp pile if tbags building up 😁
  19. I know mateπŸ˜‚ all out with a stick long range too, so giving the biggun every time .... it's gone beyond dead now lol God help me 😜
  20. First lot lasted 2 days mate .... so depending if I can get back on the fish similar I should think.
  21. You know what lads, I gave it some time , what it did do is convince me the fish had moved away , so my gut was telling me to reel in and give the spot a rest. So had a walk around the lake & had a chin wag with the Dutch guys fishing & my mates. Picked up another 15 k on my way round & am now back in my swim pondering my next move .
  22. Well after about 6 efforts , I got it just right. There no more than 1 metre apart . I've topped up with as much as my arm can take at the moment lol!!! & will see what happens. Certainly slowed up for me since the wind change , they may well of moved away !
  23. Let's do it then !! Not going to easy though gusty cross winds here today . my main worry would be picking up the other line & the fish heading into the lillies with two lines ! Think I'll back lead one of them . Cheers lads it's made my mind up 😎
  24. Would like your thoughts guys. All my fish have come off the same spot, haven't even had a sniff on the other two rods . The spot is tricky as it's in a channel between lillie beds at 100 yards but the lillies are still below the surface so you have to be on the money with no visual aid . Do I try & put a second rod on it ? Also worried it will really hinder me if I have a take , with two lines out there . Sat here wondering what to do . Thoughts?
