  1. Work colleague mate , so not one of the gang .
  2. All packed ready for France.... heading down to folkestone later this evening, stopping in a hotel over night, then its just a matter of getting up & getting on the train . Will be around 6 hours the other side so a bit of a road trip. Fingers crossed for a good weeks fishing .... two of us with 20 odd acres to go at & some Big commons to try & trip up 😎 Proper in the sticks so not sure about 4g etc , but will hopefully keep you posted through out the week . Was good banter back in March at a different venue & bounced a few ideas off you lot which helped bank a couple of bonus fish 😎
  3. Sound mate ..always good to ask . I've done a deal on another set of atts & reciever now , newer model than my original ones . So I've got 7 alarms & 2 recievers to cover all eventualities I would of needed a set for my boy at some point so there get use . there's only two of us on 20 odd acres so got a bit of water to cover & to try & get fish moving about .... something a couple of more anglers would of done . Going to take two complete set ups so I can leave a Bivvy & bed etc on two sides of the lake which will make moving onto fish a lot quicker especially if the weather's poor. It's out in the middle of no where drive & survive so it's a case of thinking worse case scenario lol .
  4. Morning mate .... you still using those ND alarms ? How have you found them , need to buy a spare set for France next week, just as a back up to my main alarms & with limited time these are looking like an option , looking at a few second hand atts on eBay to match what I've got but timing for postage will be tight so also looking at new cheaper options. Cheers buddy
  5. @Emmcee mentioned something recently.... can't remember which way round it was , but Em or the other guy was banking more fish than others & it was down to lead size, 5 oz leads were being used but instead of copying each other one went the other way & fished really light leads & low & behold better than average results were also the result . Backs up what Kev mentions above .
  6. Actually got some fishing on the horizon can't wait 😁.... really missed not getting out on the bank much . Off to churn next week with some mates for a few days then back to work for a week , then off to France for a week . Proper fishing fix 🎣🤞🐟
  7. Result muft 😎 .... I got access to a lake for the very same reason years ago , posted it about it on here . Not lines out, but a family loading the boot of the car up wuth the days catch !
  8. I've been saying the same about line aligner's Kev ... very easy to close the gape up . With most of my fishing abroad these days , I've taken to coated braid straight through ( no stripped section ) no kicker needed just the hair it self is stripped . Absolutely nailed them on a size 2 last time out .
  9. Nightmare mate!!! 🤬 Can only hope you get a decent hook hold , come collection.
  10. Best of luck muft 🎣 Picked up my bait for my trip today 😁
  11. 50k of gold & 50k of the squid & octopus mate .
  12. Fairplay to Retro Baits... did the 4.50 k price , also going to open up especially for me as that's a pick up price only . So going to pick 20 k up on the way to fish with the boys, then 80 k up on the way home for France. Both times opening up for me out of hours . Can't ask for better service than that, so hat's off to them . 😎
  13. Agreed defo no need for long shanks .
  14. Love a snowman ... caught plenty of fish on them & what I use on the deck .
  15. With that sort of kicker a straight hook would be better I reckon mate.
  16. I've done away with any kickers over the last couple of years for bottom baits . If you look at your first rig Elmo imo you've clossed the gape of the hook a lot , if you draw a straight line from your kicker to hook point your see what I mean . I personally think to big a kicker will mean more fish getting away with it ? .
  17. Can't believe the owners happy about it mate , unless he's thinking of trying to promote the otters . Obviously doesn't care much for the fishery! I've ended up just fishing in France it seems , after the otters have cleaned out all my local waters haven't fished at all in England. Although I am taking my boy & nephew week after next up to blakemere in Shropshire for a couple of nights , we are up that way on holiday so promised them some fishing . Gutted for you mate
  18. Yes though it was Dave ... good to hear stevo I'll get an order in next week as I need bait for the boys trip to blakemere too , if they match micks price I'll probably order 50k of each.
  19. Could do mate ... the fashion victims could get away with using one of the stock ponds 😁
  20. Thinking of using Gold for my French trip early October stevo . Mick got it down to 4.50 k on 100k order . Going to phone them & see what they can do looking at the squid & octopus as a bit of a mixture too as it seems to have ingredients I have full confidence in .
  21. what ever rod your casting with , your be aiming to land the lead in the same place... most people aim to cast at around 45° having a shorter rod will not make that cast easier because of a lower lead arc . So if you clip your shorter rod up at 60 yards do you expect it to drop short compared to a longer rod clipped up at 60 yards?
  22. It doesn't make any difference your still be coming down at a similar angle & still aim to land in the same place ..... the release has far more to do with lead angle than rod arc.
