  1. Never bothered with them tbh .... & I catch my fair share when I do eventually get out.
  2. Dito.... just booked another lake for early October. Happy days 😎
  3. I've certainly lost the urge , mainly due to otters eating all the local fish ! Just sounds like you need a change mate . I was a river man & didn't fish lakes for over a decade , but eventually I needed a change & had a urge to get back on to some lake fishing , which I've been doing since 2012 , fishing needs to be challenging, like greeskii said once you start going through the motions it's time to move on .
  4. There's nothing in Cheltenham fella , your have to look at the water park & I'm not sure how many have shower facilities. Horseshoe is about 30 mins away up the A40 & probably your only option ... otter fenced too which is vital these days in our area !
  5. The floss !!! We don't let him play fortnight but all his school mates do , so he picked up the floss off them last year it was non stop ! I told him it would give him hip problems when he was older & started fining him for doing it lol .
  6. Before you know it he will be 9 & thinking he's a parkour expert like my boy , the things i catch him doing around my yard frightens the life out of me 🙈 Tight lines mate 😎
  7. good shout Em .... I just went off slack lines full stop really , nothing to do with the chod itself. But if I wanted a rig to sit on weed then i wouldn't hesitate to use a chod .
  8. I've not found anything better .... when testing rigs in weedy margins . As long as your bait is nicely balanced it would consistently sit just right on top of the weed . I used to also have 2-3 metres of tiger line which improved the set up again , than just on the main line mono .
  9. I only think about fishing a chod when I want a bait sat on top of thick weed , thinking about it has the chod gone out of fashion a bit .... certainly don't here people fishing it as much, as say 4-5 years ago ?
  10. Cracking fish & hopefully still in the land of the living 😎 How you caught them on short rigs & no stainless though..... two words spring to mind " Carp God " 😁
  11. Was a cracking fish .... sadly no longer with us, along with all the other fish in that lake. Otters !!!! 🤬
  12. This is the fish in question .... look at the Hoover on it ! Lol
  13. The bigger the fish, the stronger the Hoover from what I've seen , a mid twenty can suck up boillies from over 1ft away , leaving your rig in place & moving on , they soon work out the safest way to feed ! The thing to remember they all feed slightly differently, so for me not one rig or lead setup will catch every fish in the lake . Sometimes you get lucky & catch a glimpse of a target fish feeding & the penny drops for that particular fish.
  14. It's an eye opener when it all comes together mate that's for sure . One of my best ever sessions was using no bait what so ever !
  15. The only problem with short rigs , is your never catch those fish that suck up baits from a long way back or up .... quite often the bigger fish too .
  16. I renember when you first showed us your idea years ago mate, was a different video , certainly got people thinking , I wondered how you got on with it as it was in its infancy. Sounds like it's doing the job for you 😎
  17. You be mad to spend out on a wired set these days ... I had all that fox sounder box set up years back & was glad to see the back of it . Another ATT fan
  18. Dont see why you can't.... & as I your disconnecting the solar panel makes sense too . I can stick the charger straight into the 12v socket on the front turn it on & charge it that way.
  19. If you get a 12v charger you can plug this straight into your 12 v socket on your power pack & turn the power pack on, it will then be charging, What I would probably do is make the sonar panel easy to disconnect & disconnect before hand . I take it there lead acid batteries?
  20. Someone, just could of got it all wrong on the cast Nick ? Was this a c.com social by any chance 😂
  21. A mate would of called first to let you know the fish are on your bait , it then would of been your call to make , but as you were obviously heading up there. You would of told him to find his own fish lol ! Prebaiting is always a difficult one , we've all fished someone else's prebaited spots without knowing that's for sure , probably accounts for more red letter days than we would like to admit 😜
  22. My mates Staff years ago swallowed a rig . 400 £ op to get it out . The vet did say that if it's made it to the stomach without getting caught up, the hook would be dissolved quite quickly. But Bill didn't want to take the chance & after xrays decided to pay for the op .
  23. With everything going on with the house leading up to my French trip last week , it was all left rather last minute on a lot of things . And a quick dash to my mates tackle shop was all I managed. Needed some size 2's & all he had in stock were the ridgemonkey selection! They know what I'm like when it comes to tackle especially hooks , but after pooley assured me that these were the Ace hooks just rebranded & he uses them him self I went for them . Well safe to say I was well impressed with them , the one hook did me the 50 lber 45 / 46 & it still was good to go , fishing locked up & giving it stick in the lillies so gave them a proper test , banging hook holds, didn't blunt on the lillie stems couldn't find fault with them tbh . Had a battle with a cat which will always test your end tackle too . I used the straight point pattern & would happily recommend them
  24. Yes mate been to a lot over the years & osteopaths , I've found acupuncture to help me the most . I've had MRI scan & basicly my bottom 3 disks have had had it & I Will be in for back op when I can't put up with the pain any longer & older to young at the moment apparently . Will have a look at that machine, if it's the one I'm thinking of I've had them used on me in the past , size of a small fist & works up & down the spine kneading it as it goes .
