  1. Upper 40 common in the sling looks over 45 ..... pb common . Absolutely buzzing what a scrap ! 😁 Will get it weighed in a bit 😎
  2. Well today it became apparent why we've struggled all week , biggest hatch of damsel fly's I've seen . So should think the carp have been pre occupied with the emerging/ changing nymphs. Just bad timing ... been scratching my head all week & I think I found the answer today.
  3. Cheers guys .... some units crashing out tonight so fingers crossed for another chance .
  4. 33lb Moved back on to my original bait & spots from Saturday as they were showing early this morning .
  5. Moved again this morning for the 4th time & it's paid off for me at last lads . Never worked so hard for a fish lol 😁 Now for a few more I hope 🤞
  6. The weather this week so far just hasn't let up blustery & wet non stop which is really ruining my rowing holiday 😁 I've moved again today to area where you just wouldn't want to present a bait , but I spooked a few carp in the silt earlier on this morning out in the boat while trying to work out my next move . So I've packed up in the wet & gone for it , right up the other ending the lake, couldn't find any feeding spots to speak of so just going to fish into the deep silt .
  7. Gutting mufty ... Lost a couple of fish over the year . Where a mussel had clamped on my line , & as the fights gone on .... ping . One of them was a lump at st John's proper gutted, still am now you've reminded me of it lol .
  8. So am I mate 🤞 Proper mission getting it back out 250 yard paddle in a boat with a head torch 🚣‍♂️
  9. Razor sharp mate ... bit of a mystery tbh . I've made a little tweek to the bait size before it went back out .
  10. Lost one right on dusk 🙄... wasn't on for long, so couldn't of got a good hook hold ! . Still it's back on the money & hoping for a bit more luck . which seems to of deserted me of late.
  11. Congrats all .... great catches 😎 Hopefully my turn soon 🤞
  12. Still trying to work this lake out .... I did the first 24hrs of fishing from the chalet as the wind was pushing down that end & Dave had first pick & quite rightly set up where a few were showing further up the lake . I know I've only been fishing really for 24 hrs but just not feeling it . It's screaming out to fish tgat end because of the wind but there absolutely nothing showing . With the couple of days being here it would appear that night time is when they give them selves up. So spent the day out in the boat finding harder spots in amougst the silt further up the lake where I heard a few crash out last night. All set know & just hoping moving off my bait & starting a fresh so early in the session will pay off . I've still got a visual on my original spots so in effect I'm still fishing them (if you get what I mean ). The winds still pushing nicely down there , so they might turn up . Dave had a nice grassie in the night so we are off the mark as a pair.
  13. Cheers mate . Haven't been able to get sorted before dark so will start at it tomorrow, done a bit of baiting & found some area's of interest . Absolutely knackered tbh so going to get my head down . Didn't realise just how close to Germany we would end up. Lots of remnants of the war etc very humbling .
  14. Still on the road .... you know it's a long trek when you start seeing signs for German cities 😁 Hopefully be at the lake by 3 pm 😎
  15. Work colleague mate , so not one of the gang .
  16. All packed ready for France.... heading down to folkestone later this evening, stopping in a hotel over night, then its just a matter of getting up & getting on the train . Will be around 6 hours the other side so a bit of a road trip. Fingers crossed for a good weeks fishing .... two of us with 20 odd acres to go at & some Big commons to try & trip up 😎 Proper in the sticks so not sure about 4g etc , but will hopefully keep you posted through out the week . Was good banter back in March at a different venue & bounced a few ideas off you lot which helped bank a couple of bonus fish 😎
  17. Great , catches gents 😎
  18. Sound mate ..always good to ask . I've done a deal on another set of atts & reciever now , newer model than my original ones . So I've got 7 alarms & 2 recievers to cover all eventualities I would of needed a set for my boy at some point so there get use . there's only two of us on 20 odd acres so got a bit of water to cover & to try & get fish moving about .... something a couple of more anglers would of done . Going to take two complete set ups so I can leave a Bivvy & bed etc on two sides of the lake which will make moving onto fish a lot quicker especially if the weather's poor. It's out in the middle of no where drive & survive so it's a case of thinking worse case scenario lol .
  19. Morning mate .... you still using those ND alarms ? How have you found them , need to buy a spare set for France next week, just as a back up to my main alarms & with limited time these are looking like an option , looking at a few second hand atts on eBay to match what I've got but timing for postage will be tight so also looking at new cheaper options. Cheers buddy
  20. It's tough fishing waters getting ottered mate ,been there & got the t-shirt nothing left in any of them now. Move on , take it from me it only gets tougher & tougher & I'm not just talking the fishing .... it fry's your brain in lots of ways 🤯 watching a lake die off is not a good thing for us anglers & leaves a hollow feeling when it's been part of your angling for years . This was a peach of a common & before I had gone grey lol looking at the photo
  21. Well done all 😎 I blanked 🙈 Had one of those sessions that anything that could go wrong did lol . Just hope that's out the way in readiness for France. Did manage 2 bites on last morning after working hard for a few days, only to get cut off with the first one & got done with a drop back bite on the second right on last knockings.... just to rub in lol . Still had a great time with good friends though & a much needed chill out
  22. @Emmcee mentioned something recently.... can't remember which way round it was , but Em or the other guy was banking more fish than others & it was down to lead size, 5 oz leads were being used but instead of copying each other one went the other way & fished really light leads & low & behold better than average results were also the result . Backs up what Kev mentions above .
  23. Actually got some fishing on the horizon can't wait 😁.... really missed not getting out on the bank much . Off to churn next week with some mates for a few days then back to work for a week , then off to France for a week . Proper fishing fix 🎣🤞🐟
  24. Result muft 😎 .... I got access to a lake for the very same reason years ago , posted it about it on here . Not lines out, but a family loading the boot of the car up wuth the days catch !
  25. I've been saying the same about line aligner's Kev ... very easy to close the gape up . With most of my fishing abroad these days , I've taken to coated braid straight through ( no stripped section ) no kicker needed just the hair it self is stripped . Absolutely nailed them on a size 2 last time out .
