  1. If your only talking a flick for a cast then most rods should be equal , But once you start loading a rod it's a different ball game .
  2. At distance longer rods will be far more accurate & there's No way a shorter rod will out perform a longer for distance. Bigger the arc the further your cast . How long does a 12ft rod become during the cast ?
  3. Sounds like a trailing fish to me .
  4. Great stuff mate 😎 Plenty to get your teeth into there... very jealous 😉
  5. Doesn't sound like a big otter problem then really , as your group probably would of caught at least one fish over the years... that would of obviously had a lucky escape & bare the battle scars . A big cormorant problem will hit the fishing too though as the fish don't tend to get there heads down as confidently from what I've seen . Hard to say as I don't know the venue. Greeskii is local though so his comments are probably more on point.
  6. Cormorants will stab & injure big fish though , which in some cases will cause a slow death if infection takes hold . Not knowing the place or area but looking at a map , it looks prime for otter visits . But I'm surprised you've not spotted any evidence. Do you walk around the whole reservoir regularly?
  7. You sure it's not otters ? The time frame would fit 4-5 years then very little left .
  8. Have a good un Highy... where you heading ? Usual place or somewhere new .
  9. Congratulations mate 😎 Booked my tunnel crossing today for my early October trip .... 🎣🇫🇷
  10. Black always at the bottom of what ever combo as it would be in shadow & as you point out will silhouette against the sky . The colour change is more to do with matching the hatch on the day.
  11. Can remember a mate buying a second hand set back in 2010 , but couldn't tell you how long before that they were released. Probably a good few years though . Give daiwa a ring they will no doubt know & are normally pretty helpful .
  12. Agree stevo .... black & white is the go to . But that day couldn't get a take so played about with different combos, that little slice of orange did the trick that day , so definitely worth keeping busy & making things happen for anyone just getting into zigs .
  13. Was it woody from the tackle shop in Hereford stevo .... catching chub & barbel from the city centre on chips . I was fishing the Wye back then & remember it well .😁
  14. Personally I wouldn't be in a rush to set up , once you've all sorted out who's fishing where , let everybody else crash about finding spots & start fishing . Hang back leave you water line free & you might just find a few fish start turning up . It's worked for me in the past .

  16. If your fishing hele style just use a quick clip , all nicely hidden under a sleeve, have a look at the esp buffer sleeves, they work well & do soak up the bounce of the lead a fair bit tbh when playing a fish . Just had a quick look .... there esp chod rig sleeve
  17. I will prevent other fish taking my bait when I'm stalking ,so not to ruin any chance of the one I want , if I can't do that , then I'm not stalking . Like I said in my earlier post I have to be able to see the fish for me to call it stalking. But that's just me everyone's different. 😉
  18. Personally.... if I say I've stalked a fish, the first criteria has to be that you've spotted it & singled it out for capture. And actually see it take your bait. If you apply it to other hunting field's there is a difference between a stalker & a trapper
  19. Sounds like a bit of marginal baiting, would soon bring rewards . Nice & stealthy.... Enjoy 😎
  20. That would be my worry ABS do there bit... courier doesn't for some reason.
  21. The helicopter lead set up will travel the furthest & is pretty bullet proof for presentation so might be worth a look for you . But like Nick mentions stopping that line & kicking it all out just before it hits the water & feeling the lead down, should see a pendant set up fishing fine no matter what range . Try reeling in slower & smoother as it could be just tangling on the way in if the rods bouncing around a lot .
  22. Best of luck mate... look forward to seeing some French units in the catch reports . Just booked a lake for early October, drive & survive this time for me ,unlike back in early spring . Can't wait especially as there's some big commons to try a trip up . Not sure I would of had my bait turning up the day before though .... maybe bring it forward a day or two , just to be safe ?
  23. Put an order in mate , bit of selection . heading over to another lake in France early October ( Poisson Chat free ) this time so thought I would see what the fuss is about . Certainly makes for good reading on there website. Come on the big Girls 🇫🇷 🎣
