  1. thats a myth! the rubber grips the hair, so much you dont need a stop.youd need to have drilled an over sized hole and have it rattling on the hair
  2. smart idea...not sure i like them though!
  3. iv been doing well on the park lake with this on a running lead. with two baits even after the coots had picked it up i was confident to leave it out still, just a slight tug to straighten it. with the beaked hook i could drag it over chod and it wouldnt hook any of it, or the coots as the hook was to far down...... and two of the takes from the carp had the hair cut off in their teeth.
  4. i dont follow you??? may be someone that HASN'T had a brain tumor removed by a surgeon that just got back from a holiday in Dublin can understand........but i dont. some thing to think about......a lead tied on to the mainline then hooklink tied to the lead, fixed lead.( death rig ) would be fine while its still connected to the rod....its when its NOT connected and left live in the water that it kills Your not following me right I mean a swivel tied to the end of the mainline then a weaker mono link tied to that swivel then the lead tied to the weaker mono. The hook link is still running on the mainline so no need for starky comments lol my death rig comment is just what i said...something to think about, it doesnt relate to your posts. this phrase you used...".It's the only safe way to fish a chod otherwise the lead can never be ejected.." would you care to enlighten me and others as to why you think that??? as i believe , to be as close to safe as can possibly be , the inclusion that the rig may crack off has to to be taken into account. iv only read/heard lead sellers preach the "dump the lead" line and BAH! from the followers................. thats me being sarky

  6. i worry though that if i crack off or get cut off, that the weak link will go before the hook link leaves the leader....if thats LC i dont see how(without the leads weight) it can get dumped.... i fear it may make it half way, but then would the two ends twist around and never get free??? scary thought I dont use a leader or leadcore though. But if you are using a chod and you get cut off/crackoff surely you are set up that the hooklink just pulls off over the leader. yep thats my point and why i dont think rotten bottom/weak link leads on heli and leader set ups are safe. It's the only safe way to fish a chod otherwise the lead can never be ejected.. SAFE?? you mean ANGLER safe,as in the angler has less chance of losing the fish while PLAYING it........not FISH safe.....which is a totally different thing, but that is only on a LEADER, the weak link is the better way if main line is fished straight through( if you need to lose the lead) lost rigs are live until the bait goes....if thats a fake/plastic then its live until a fish takes it.......pop ups??? i dont know their breakdown times but i think of them as bad a plastics.

  9. i dont want to knock the guy........but he says " its all about the screaming run" then sits there for nights getting one bleep and then hours later reels in with a fish on the end...now i think guys with less skills would of looked at that and changed tactics.......................if its "all about the screaming run"??? and that whole set up on the grass to suss why the rod got pulled and cut him off?????really ???well im not going to buy his grippers apart from that i really enjoyed the surface fishing at the end i think his 1st dvd is great, i learnt a lot about markering from that
  10. i totally agree with that. i got shown that a year or so back, i switched the stop knot on the bottom bead to just knotting the LC so it can never slip down. as i lost a few close in as the stop knot had slipped down but iv also had 2 snag me from the long drop...one i lost, but the other i managed to pass the rod through the bush(40mins work)....and on the other side there was a carp swimming about with the lead sitting in a fork of a small branch i havent use the rig since losing the last carp, preferring to use other pop up rigs where the lead is above the fish on any water where margin snags are present.
  11. yes bud, that'l be perfect.
  12. iv been using a nash logic uni box/bin for the last few seasons....cant remember its full name great for zigs and chods
  13. the rig length may be to short??? what bait you using and how are you baiting?? a longer rig should let the hook go further in,hopefully meaning a better hook hold.
  14. a float is a float. pike floats, wine corks...they all do the same thing. the balance between lead and float needs to be accounted for but thats all. but as companies target beginners is makes sense to them to brand 1 product for as many uses its possible for, to sell it to you more than once...youve spotted this before its too late.
  15. yeah i use them, makes changing the lead easy as well ...its more the fact its streamlined and collects less weed, the bead stops any sort of bolt effect giving a quicker indication.....not as much as pedant, which is my preferred method.
  16. i often stick a big buffer bead between the swivel and inline while fishing in weed.love me running style, but less chance of snagging with the inline unlike the pendant.

    rig putty

I just use float stops , much cheaper i cant get my head around why putty is needed on korda sinkers oh yeah..the answers in my question. @shade. agreed, braid is unlikely to have the problem. mono or fluoros on the other hand

    rig putty

wouldnt that make the putty kinda pointless? you could just add a bigger shot. my thinking is putty wont add a weak spot, which can happen if shot is crimped on. a float stop or stop knot then wrapped in putty makes more sense to me. as for it staying soft, that could be the putty, so many out there, but not all are very good,iv tried a few and not found one im completely happy with. when using uncoated braid,or striped i find it better to rub the full lenght of hook link with the putty.
  19. does the clip lock in with just a push or a locking pin??? if it pushes in,your need to get the right size.numbers arent always useful if using different brands, as ones size 8 may not fit anothers size 8 clip. better to get clips and swivels from one company.
  20. very informative. the 'braid' may be leadcore . if so it can be removed so you can tie mainline direct. dont know what else it could be???unless theyre used clips??
  21. see this is what i mean, pendulum?????i think i may have seen them supporting iron maiden i know what you mean about the festivals, back when i young and couldnt afford to go, it was like losing a limb not being there...now i couldnt give two...its just not rock n roll. i guess thats what the 90s are to blame for .....merging of genres all into pop
  22. theyre they best gigs i know iv seen more bands then i can remember
  23. Wait and bleed, best song they ever done! the thing thought with slip knot was they were just napalm death wana bees so here is the best death metal song in the world ever
  24. only the first album. i never got into them, but i was impressed with how they managed to get their t-shirts into the fashion markets. mums were buying them for kids thinking it was a brand and not a metal band
  25. iv always thought each hook link set up as its own mechanics, learning these then helps to decide which set up to use in each situation, the situation needs a different understanding(watercraft) now i dont think its possible to have total watercraft understanding as each sess is a learning sess. but rig mechanics are basics. like times table, you learn it ,then when needed its there ,without having to relearn it. so even though thought goes into choosing, your not actually working out the mechanics(unless its a new set up to you)your trying to work out the best thing for your situation
