Yeah mate really nice place to fish from π it's a new water for me and totally different to the reservoirs I fish so its a bit of a learning curve, got weed beds, lillies, lots of snags, clay spots, gravel bars etc. I'm on a clear spot 10 wraps out and fishing to that has been a challenge as I've been used to casting the rod as hard as I can π€£ I plan on fishing to the snags when I get a better idea of the lake, but will settle for open spots until then, I'll also need to up my line to a fluro or braid I think. Also need to finesse my rigs and go a bit smaller lol So I'm fishing the top end of the lake mate which was flooded to make the lake bigger, there's no swims as the water just goes into the trees etc, looks like mangroves π€£ at the top there's 4 platforms that go out of sticks for you to fish from π You can also feel the platform rock when you move π¬π€£2 points

I don't possess a carp rod over 9'6" can honestly say I don't miss the length of the 12 footers, my shortest (8') is great for getting into little nooks and crannies and winkling the odd fish out... I love the portability, and the easy handling of the short rods... to be fair though, I've borrowed a pair of 6' 3lb Scopes paired with my shimmy Aero 400X runners and hated them... too short, too stiff not nice at all... my Dwarf 9 foot 2.75lbers are a nice playing rod, but sit idle these days... My Sharpe 8 footer see's more use, with a pin they're superb for margin work2 points

stalking rod

For years my stalking and floater rod was 9ft. The only place I ever wished for something shorter was in overhanging overgrown swims. I replaced it when it was stolen with an 11ft 6in rod, mostly for floaters and float fishing and in designated swims it was perfect.2 points -

I have a greys 7ft stalker rod it's pretty decent tbh my daughter uses it mainly though, if you want a cheap, cheap one the ngt profiler ones are about as good as any of the cheaper ones, I had some but sold them, I find short rods feel a bit weird tbh.2 points -

Now you mention it I can see some of the trees underwater, I was quite perplexed by it lol, but it does look pretty cool, good luck.1 point -

Why is that there, Is the question I want to ask? Seems such a weird thing to build right out into the middle of the lake, looks fun though good luck π1 point -

From memory (its been a while since I have been up there) 7,6,5 are the hot swims, along that long no fishing bank there are a couple of water inlets that do a good number of fish, 8-11 are worth a look as well as they have access to the deeper water, 4-1 that end of the lake is very swallow. I think it gets a bit of weed in it in the summer so it might be worth having a lead around for clean areas. The baliffs have there own youtube channel which they have been uploading videos for tips https://www.youtube.com/@WyresideLakesFishery and Mr Pitchers did an episode of the challenge on Sunny 1 think he is fishing peg 71 point

Ive got at least 10 buckets but my mate must have nearer to 30. When we went Italy because I wasnt smoking I struggled to sleep and had weird dreams every night with at least 2 of which centered around a massive wall of buckets in someones swim it was like bait wars, woke up stressed out π€£π€¦ββοΈ The mans got 100 buckets, we're screwed! π€£1 point

Well in that case I'm guessing that the pegs on your lake won't have overhanging branches so bad that you would need a 6ft. rod , unless there are very tight , underhand cast margin spots ? . Personally I don't have enough spare cash to buy a 6ft. rod that I would seldom , if at all , find a need for . π1 point

6footers are like using a tea spoon for eating your breakfast. they serve a purpose but itβs hard work..1 point

we are able to wander round looking for the fish but rules say we have to fish from a designated peg0 points
