I can’t go down the road of Merino socks, my feet would rip them apart, picture the bark of a very old oak tree πŸ€” that’s what the soles of my feet look like. Just a bit lazy looking after them I get the black and decker sander out now and then when they get really bad.

On the subject of Pike. I had a trip out yesterday for a couple of hours and two young friends in their young teens came past and asked if I had anything and if it was ok to set up in the corner way over to my left. I replied had nothing and yes, it’s okay to fish in the corner and thanked them for asking. One had a run and hooked a jack Pike about 4-5 lb on a pineapple pop up 😳 I shouted over well done lads and one asked if I could take a pic. The both was so excited I took the pic of them holding the fish and they returned it on the mat. .. then as they watched it go they turned to each other and hugged it was lovely to see, a very uplifting moment.

Look after your feet mate, they do a lot of work keeping you on the road, you wouldn't drive a car with bald tyres, keep that for your head πŸ˜‚

Well I gave my first Pike Anglers Club presentation in Lincoln at the start of December, all photographs moved from Android phone onto USB stick. They can't be put in time order so it is a case of slideshow by double clicking each pic as you need it. The next regional presentation I will be doing for the PAC is in Cambridge Region on 8th January.

Yeah seems very good kit, funny enough i have ordered it in 12lb BS as tackle box claim it has a real BS of around 18lb, i would of used the NGT camo 18lb as it has a low diameter but its not abrasion resistant at all unlike Hydro tuff, also i wanted to keep line diameter as low as sensible as i now fish this lovely snaggy lake pretty close in

Hydrotuff won't let you down. It's the only line strong enough to keep my button attached to my trousers after xmas dinner πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺ

As i have a pair of new reels on the way seems wrong to load cheap line on them so as im mot casting any big distance and the lake is a hell hole of snags makes sense to get a spool of Hydrotuff and just go for a decent line from the start

The later Mitchell's had a strip of red chenille around the base of the spool to stop this happening... it wears away with age, you could probably replicate it with some fly tying chenille glued in place

My mate Bruce is forever scouring ebay for Mitchell reels, and he has a large box of spare parts from beyond economical repair reels, and a large display case of reels. He repaired and repainted one of my old Mitchell's where the rotor goes anti-clockwise so reels in 'backwards'. My view is a reel is to be used, so it is on one of my chub stalking rods.

Credit cards...fatal πŸ™ˆπŸ€£ been grafting the last couple months and nearly got it cleared, Β£72.45 left to pay which will be cleared Friday πŸ’ͺ Anyway, I'm still sorting a mixer for my bait rolling setup. Does anyone know if it needs to be a dough hook or would a paddle attachment work?
