Everyone that I've recommended HydroTuff to loves it. It's quite unique as it has all of the benefits of a snag line (crazy good abrasion resistance and superb strength) but 'feels' like a low stretch or pre-stretched line. The responsiveness is as good as any mono I've used. It even casts ok in the lower diameters. The colour is great..... it's just a brilliant, brilliant line.4 points

It would actually stretch more (with the bigger diameter there's more material to stretch). Although stretch is not a problem for this stuff it seems. Mate if it aint broke, don't fix it. π3 points

Gardner Hydro Tuff v Berkley Trilene Big Game

Hydrotuff is superb line, I've chucked it up trees and stuck it in reeds and weed and it always comes back, you will probably snap your rod before you break it π Sinks well, not too stretchy, I thought about stepping up to 18lb just incase my car gets stuck in the mud but then the 15lb would probably handle that π3 points -

But check it just in case lol2 points -
Iβm on the 18lb solely for the diameter for abrasion resistance. Means I can take it anywhere I plan on fishing without having to mess about changing spools or anything. Stupidly weedy pit, savage quarry or the river. But to be honest the 15lb is probably good enough for all of those places though!!2 points

I was actually thinking of going up to the 18lb next time I respool, just because it is quite snaggy and weedy where I fish and I just think it may stretch just a little less than 15lb which can only help, but the 15lb actually hasn't really let me down ever, Trouble is it doesn't need respooling that often π1 point -
Spinner rig

With my spinner rigs, I have a rig ring on the hook shank stopped by a hook bead. I attach the pop up to this ring using floss and lasso the bait. I donβt pierce my pop ups as they are home made cork ball pop ups1 point -
Nuff said - will have to give this stuff a try - cheers! π1 point

need help: bait ingredients composition
Pileng reacted to salokcinnodrog for a topic
Mix 40% koi carp pond pellet powder, 10% sodium caseinate with 50% semolina. You will only need 20 grams maximum of silkworm amino acid powder and betaine that you add to eggs. If you can get liquid liver add around 20millilitres in to the eggs as well.1 point -

It was brilliant 20 years ago buddy but not even in the same ball park as HydroTuff. The Gardner stuff does everything the Trilene does but it casts better, is more responsive (lower stretch/better drop), behaves better....... just better in every way imho.1 point -

I did a bit of work experience at Oxford Linear Fisheries and got asked about spots as I was walking around the lakes quite frequently. Unfortunately for them I barely even knew the names of the lakes and I got a few funny looks when I mentioned as much. In my three weeks there, I fished only one night. Apparently the "swim" I was fishing was actually more of a hole in the bush. I was also made aware that I was stitching up the best swim on the lake to fish this "hole in the bush" which I'm sure nobody moaned about! π1 point -
You've basically said it yourself right at the beginning, if it's working stick with it.... If not try something else and ask about what people think about certain Baits (Trial and error)... I started off in Nash Candy Nut, did some fish, since moved to Sticky, got better results, now trying another bait option (Not Boilies) and myself and a mate have caught 21 fish in 2 sessions upto 31lb and that with no offerings around them and no pre-baiting. I ain't no Tom Dove or Mark Pitchers but Fishing is mainly a hobby and if everyone had the option we would be on the freshest and best Baits possible, but LIFE has other means and ways, and when we do get out on the bank hopefully we give 110% and try to reap the rewards.1 point
