  1. Had a fantastic day perch and Zander fishing, no perch for me but I did manage 3 nice Zander and upped my PB in the process, what a buzz! Everything aches after a long and active day and still felt like I was on the waves afterwards at home but can't wait to get out again 👍

    Korda Hybrid stiff

I used to use it a good while ago now. Never crimped it but found it was OK knotted. Can't recall any failures mate.

    Short session food?

Cooked Breakfast always starts the day well. I do take naked noodles and a ragu to male a spag bol. Lunch is normally a wrap or a steak slice. I do take plenty of food though.

    Third Time Lucky

I've just come back to the sport after 20yrs out of the game. I'm no novice as I've fished for Carp since the late 80s. I do tie all my own rigs and my craft may be a bit rusty but fishing is fishing. Once you know where the likely spots are it becomes all about timing. Recently had an operation which has limited my mobility while I recover. On my first day back on a lake I've never fished I blanked. I had 4 takes and lost them all in the heavy weed. Gutted but it only served to make me improve, plus I knew my instincts were right. Next trip I fished a different spot but despite my best efforts blanked completely. I wasn't dissalusioned as the swans were using my part of the lake as a practice runway and the weather all construed against me. I still had a lovely chilled day out. I picked up a useful bit of info prior to my next visit that the owners feed the carp on maize every spring. Straight onto eBay and 20kg bag of maize was winging it's way to me. I took 5kg of maize and hemp mix with me and baited the spots I first fished. Now I understood where the fish were going so now it was just about presentation. I changed all my rigs specifically for this. I got onto the lake about 6:30am and baited the spots heavily. I then fished a boilie with a mesh bag. By 6pm I had 3 fish and I was buzzing. Phoned the Mrs to let her know I was doing the night. So glad I did as I pulled another 6 fish out including a beautiful Tench of 4lbs. My biggest Carp was a 17 with another 5 early to mid doubles. Not massive but the buzz it gave was off the charts. Note to one's self do not do a night in a chair or wearing a T-shirt and jogging bottoms. I was frozen and bitten by every poxy mozzy but I could give a rat's a#*e I had one of the best 24hr sessions in my life. Never give in never give up😎

    Short session food?

I can remember the first and only time I had a pot noodle
Picture the scene if you will
it was on a very cold frosty November night sea fishing god it was cold đŸ„¶ I had my mums old tights on newspaper in my worn wellies to try and stay warm. I looked like the Michelin man with far to many clothes on. Must have been mid 1970s on the local foreshore My mate said don’t take sandwiches I bring a pot noodle just bring a flask of hot water, this was the dark days of the glass thermos with the tartan pattern you just had to fart near it and it would shatter. Anyway I’m freezing and hungry as per he gets a pot noodle out I pour the hot water in give it a min he say you’ll love it
well the water had gone lukewarm and I didn’t put enough water in i takes a big spoonful and started choking got a lump of semi warming dryish wetish noodle stuck in my in throat..what’s up with you my mate says as Im jumping up and down on the spot trying to get air into my lungs he’s thinks its so funny and falls over laughing when luckily his father spots me he runs over wracks me on the back the lump of noodle shoots out and I go flying and trip over my mate kicking the Tilly lamp so no light and the end of the trip.. So defo no pot noodle for me ever !

    Landing net question

This is something I used to have happen but haven't for quite some time, it may just be chance but I know what I do now compared to then is leave the net in the water with the fish in so it can compose itself before being hoiked out onto the mat, and as I'm doing this it gives me time to breathe and then I tend to check if the fins are flat to the fishes body and its dorsel doesn't look as though it'll get stuck in the net. This may well be what you do and it still happens , so just ignore me if that's the case!! Good man for asking about it either way, I feel quite bad when this has happened to me
