I think I've got a solution for the Self takes.... Anyone seen them "Ring Lights" lad has 1 and thinking of using for the night shots.... OMG there bright. The halo tube is the bulb/light, it runs of USB so power pack can be plugged in when picture to be taken, it has White Red Green Blue solid lights, you can also mix all the colours like a rainbow, 4 different brightness settings. The phone holder is in the middle, think I should use with Whistle App Tripod adjusts to different levels. Might give it a whirl tomorrow night.2 points

It’s making me question everything mate. Same bait and the day before when I had a take, sticky krill. I know it works. I had the fish in front of me last night I seen several carp, just don’t understand why they didn’t get their heads down. my baits are going on some hard spots, about a foot off the island. I’m wondering if it’s because I’m not getting it close enough.. bait boat would help 👍😂 Then in questioning the rigs I’m using, I’ve recently made a change. I’ve been trying out a slip D rig with a bait screw. It was nailing the bream every time on res. If it’s hooking them well enough, shouldn’t be a problem hooking the carp? Might have to go back to the basic knotless knot rig for bottom baits and try that again lol2 points -

I’ve taken the old school approach I’m there to catch them not feed them at this time of yr they have that much natural food I’m not going to compete with that I’ll use it to my advantage the more naturals you can get on your hookbait the better it becomes a larder 🤔🤔1 point -
Nice safe neat running rig
jh92 reacted to salokcinnodrog for a topic
It definitely weakens the swivel bending the ring on it. I also don't think that a running lead clip is a good idea at all. You negate it's use for dropping the lead if it is free running. Any lakebed rubbish is now free to jam the leadclip and stop it running anyway, and with a leadclip that is not fixed to the hook link swivel the lead can't eject. Far better to use a decent run ring that does run on leaders, mainline or tubing; Solar, Fox and Korum all make decent run rings. I have used the 'shocka' run-stop set up, a rubber bead on tubing, even a power gum stop knot on mainline with a running bead, but while it works, and very well, I come back to the safety aspect of the bead preventing the lead and run ring coming off should I get a break-off above it. I am not convinced that it can be totally safe, unless your bead can come past or push the stop knot over the broken end.1 point -

Yeah mate when I had my first jab my arm was pretty soar for a few days. The jab I had this morning I didn’t even feel the needle go in, couple hours later on starting to get a dead arm feeling. 😂 fished for 3 hours this morning fish didn’t want to know, all basking on the surface, so came home for a few hours and will go back about 5ish. Yesterday evening seemed like bite time, the lad next swim down from me had 2 while I was fishing so will try the same time again today 👍1 point -

Send it back mate - if its not right it's not right, you can't be expected to fix a new reel with washers! Shimano has obviously gone down hill a bit with the quality of their reels. My new spod reel ceased up on it's first outing, I got it moving again but really not the point, I have the expectation now that it will happen again mid session, didn't think I would ever be bad mouthing Shimmy but a sign of the times., I should have sent that back but didn't - you've reminded me what a fool I've been.1 point

Line lay on new reels seems different with same reels.
charb reacted to salokcinnodrog for a topic
Definitely no washers, they are supposed to be a complete ready to go reel. It is only Big Pits that have washers to change the line lay. How you load the line can also change the line lay. If you reel on quickly it tends to bunch up front. Slowly and it goes on more evenly from front to back across the whole of the spool. I have DL10000's myself, and for the cost, a spool of Gardner Pro 0.35mm 15lb line is close to perfect for all 3. Build quality of materials is not perfect😉1 point
