shimano baitrunner DL/ RB.

My view exactly. I have had various baitrunners, the original 3500 GT's, 4000's, 8010's and the DL's. A mate still uses his original 6500 baitrunners. The newer DL's feel cheap and tacky compared to the older models. I have broken a handle on 1 of 3, it fell off my barrow. I am still abusing 2 of my Aerlex 8000's bought back in 2005, they have outlasted other reels. The DL's have been 'promoted' to pike fishing, with braid admittedly, but for carp fishing I prefer my budget range Beastmasters. I found the DL10000's I was limited to around 90metres with 15lb line, the spool is not wide enough to cast further as the line depth drops too low on the spool. A 0.36mm braid will cast far enough for pike fishing, but not for carp fishing, which is why I bought the Beastmasters for carp. You can cast short with a big reel, but not long with a smaller reel. I'm not even sure the DL10000's are as good a casting reel as the older 4000's or 8010's, although I had no need for big casting with 15lb line on them. I did push 100metres plus with 8lb line and shock leader and they felt comfortable.1 point -
6m baiting pole for about £40

I have an extending landing net handle with a spoon for margin work and a angling intelligence 12m one with 5 extra sections for just in case there used to be plenty of 8m poles for sale as people upgraded to the 12 as the 8was too short1 point -

shimano baitrunner DL/ RB.

To be honest I am not totally sure what the DL stands for, but I do not think the DL is totally worth the extra money over the ST baitrunner range. I have DL10000's and other than an extra spool I don't think is necessarily better than the ST range. The build quality of Shimano's mid range reels seems to have gone downhill. Budget ST range or XT top price is the way to go.1 point -

They come in 2 versions of RB (rear brake) or FB (front brake) or drag or clutch or whatever you want to call it. I'm pretty sure the DL refers to Dyna Balance which is the dual handle system, which virtually eliminates any wobble.1 point -

It is just before Scotland v England in the Euro’s Group game. Kane goes into the English changing room to find all his team mates looking a bit glum. "What's up?" he asks. "Well, we're having trouble getting motivated for this game. We know it's important but it's only Scotland. They're [censored]e and we can't be bothered". Kane looks at them and says "Well, I reckon I can beat these by myself, you lads go down the pub." So Kane goes out to play Scotland by himself and the rest of the English team go off for a few pints. After a few jars they wonder how the game is going, so they get the landlord to put the teletext on. A big cheer goes up as the screen reads "England 1 - Scotland 0 (Kane 10minutes)". He is beating Scotland all by himself! Anyway, a few more pints later and the game is forgotten until someone remembers "It must be full time now, let's see how he got on". They put the teletext on. "Result from the Stadium "England 1 (Kane 10 minutes) - Scotland 1"(Angus McShagnasty 89 minutes)". They can't believe it, he has single handedly got a draw against Scotland!! They rush back to the Stadium to congratulate him. They find him in the dressing room, still in his gear, sat with his head in his hands. He refuses to look at them. "I've let you down, I've let you down." "Don't be daft, you got a draw against Scotland , all by yourself. And they only scored at the very very end" "No, No, I have, I've let you down... I got sent off after 12 minutes"1 point -

Had my first session today, 3 hours in I decided to reel in to put on a new PVA stick and recast. Apparently I failed to notice the "non-" bit on my funnel web pack, and thus hauled in a slimy turd of pellets and groundbait in bright white stockings. Felt like a right bell-end when I checked the packaging more thoroughly 🤔. So, what's Non-PVA stuff for? Cray-proofing boilies? Chum-bags for pike fishing? Was only 2 quid, so I won't be crying blood over it, but I'd better get the real stuff for next session, I think it can improve my presentation a wee bit.1 point

Non-PVA funnel web?
jh92 reacted to Carpbell_ll for a topic
Lol often wondered if anyone did that, in my local tackle shop the fox armour mesh is next to the fox pva mesh they look similar. Must be a real confusing angling discipline to come into a new, i got given a withy rig years back and no instructions on what to do with it, ended up on a inline bit like a chod tied to a house brick, looked alright to me.1 point -
And a big loop on the end so you can get a spomb through with a smaller loop at the end of that just so you can loosen that loop to take it back off again1 point

the arms race is on i have one of these on order i figured so long as i only use it from my own peg all's fair. i give you soon to be marketed in the uk, the boat blaster 5000 I can see nothing in the rules of fisheries or more importantly the ethics and etiquette of carp angling that could prevent an angler from deploying such equipment when fishing a lake.0 points
