  1. I was sorting a cupboard out and found some old pics. One made me chuckle as if I'd not had the picture no one would believe it. It's not super imposed as one mate reckoned. The pigeon was a racing pigeon that landed in front of my mates bivvy and was obviously very tame. My mate took it home in the end and it flew off the next day. Anyone else got pics of things you didn't expect to see on the bank?

I think as an alarm they are great nice and sensitive when you need it, give good indication and work, I do find battery life is a bit pants though, but I just keep a load of spares in my bag for when they start beeping, I do think low quality batteries drain a lot faster, I got some amazon industrials last time and they seem to hold up a bit better, but they handle all weather, if I could be bothered I would remove the batteries after each session but generally I am in a rush and forget 😁

  6. Yeah. Just wanna get back on the lake to be fair as I’ve been out of the fishing loop for about 4-5years

  7. I chose peg 6 actually, I thought it would give me the choice of shallow margins with tree cover and other features but also covers the deepest areas of the lake. It was flat calm almost all day, no fish showing at all throughout the entire day and when there was an occasional slight breeze it was freezing and in a different direction everytime! Needless to say I blanked, just two liners but I don't think I fished particularly well either, reeled in twice with my braided hooklink in a tangle and the stiff link fished in the margins came in with weed on it twice and a seed on the hookpoint once too! I also struggled with the bivvy pegs on the gravel of the peg and set up over an area that wasn't level, took me about 30mins just to peg in the bivvy. Not a great day all in all but the fishery is brilliant so will definitely go back soon.

  9. I cast 13.5 wraps last time I was fishing and it gave me a nosebleed 😁 For sensitivity I find my soniks pretty bang on tbh of I can I turn it up to full, it registers most small movements, I think like nick said a lot of sensitivity comes down to lead set up, I think the running rig is much better if you need sensitivity especially if you can get your rod pointed at the spot you are fishing, I found the heli set up gave some weird indications, if I can I use running rigs, but I guess with inlines and bolt rigs they are hopefully helping to get more takes as soon as the bait is picked up,

  10. I haven't mentioned this to anyone before as they would think I was mad but I heard a splash in the margins and saw a squirrel swim on his back across the river and climbed up a tree on the far bank!

  11. I once saw a mole swim which I thought was strange. I was searching for carp with my mate and we came into this swim and this little creature had just left the margin. We couldn't work out what it was at first but those massive claws gave it away. It swam right out into the middle of the pit and gulls started dive bombing it so it came back. I actually called the mrs there and then (she's got a masters in zoology) to make sure I wasn't going mental. She told me that all mammals can swim which was news to me. Either way, there is something about a mole swimming that still makes me chuckle to this day.
