Spod/marker rod
elmoputney and one other reacted to commonly for a topic
I've found the large one casts better too. A tight wad I know got the small one & struggled casting any distance, tangle and not opening. The bit of float foam is genius & should really be an integral part of it. It'd just sink otherwise if you ever cracked off. Well worth the quid2 points -
The air bomb serves a purpose but is no good for distance. The dot is pukka for heavier baits but useless for light baits (pellet, maggot etc). The fox impact spod is decent now they sorted out the issues with the pin/hinge. The original spomb is still the best all-rounder. Imo.2 points

10 foot spod rod
dayvid and one other reacted to Bablemikey for a topic
For me I'm sometimes fishing in swims where height restricted by overhanging trees & I just can't use my 13' rods or 12' spod. It's for this situation I carry a set of 10' rods. I can then fish the channel and the margins of an island 90 at yards when others can't. Its a question of tools for the job, not a preference really.2 points -
Gents, enlighten me, why would you get a 10ft spod rod? I can't see what benefit it offers. I can just about understand 10 ft carp rods, I guess there is a shout for tight swims/overhangs (even though in 20 years I've never found a spot that can't be fished with 12's). I guess there is a weight saving too (although very, very small) if you only fish small waters. But for the spod, you're not going to be spodding in some tight little snag swim anyway so I can't see that benefit?2 points

its not a rowing boat is it ? you would go round in circles with your knackered arm sorry to hear about your back though that's no fun while you are away, hope it gets better soon so you can land another whacker, I get a similar thing quite often, sometimes it goes quite quickly, If you know any good yoga type stretches they can really help, otherwise more beer can do wonders for the pain especially with the tramalols π΅2 points -
Spod/marker rod

They donβt actually sink they just sit in the water. Try it in the margins although they do go out of sight without the foam.1 point -
Spod/marker rod
yonny reacted to elmoputney for a topic
Thanks for the review on those might have to start with a spomb and see how i get on with it, I like using pellets so dot spod might not be the one for me, I do quite like the way the air bomb looks to work but its probably not as simple to use as the spomb, I am only using the one spod/marker rod so clipping up spomb to the same as the marker should be perfectly fine for getting bait out on the spot Cheers1 point -

Heat is only good for arthritis according to my chiropractor. I used to think the same, love a bit of deep heat. It's ice packs you need for muscle or ligament damage. Wrapped in cloth so you don't burn yourself!! How wrong does that sound!! π Works a treat1 point

For me I only fish small waters now And dwarfs/ scopes are just easily for storage and getting car. I'd only want a spod rod to get past the seagulls and when using particles1 point

Decided to drink & bosh pain killers & get on with it π . Had a re think on the swim moved things about . Put two rods tight on the spot that's done me fish . One rod on the margin spot I lost one from last night . And set up a forth on a spot to my left that I've been baiting since Saturday but not had any joy from , one of those where you just to have a rod on just in case now.... you know what I mean . On an upside my arm feels better π Thanks for all the encouragement & banter lads. Feels like the c.com of yesteryear π1 point -

Well today ended up being a right off... Sat eating my breakfast roll , reach down to get a wipe to clean the egg off my chops & ping my back goes into spasm !!! So couldn't even drive to get supplies . The owner had some tramadol so reeled in boshed one & have only just come round lol , still in a lot of pain but has eased a little . Had to hire a boat as I can't cast long now absolute nightmare lads . If I'm lucky enough to catch another it will be a mat shot π0 points
