No particle - why? because numpties turn up with un-soaked and boiled particles - chuck them in and the fish are either ill or die, look at Benson at Bluebell, unprepared tigers I believe, swelling in the stomach. Also why some say you can only use the particles in jars - its been done correctly so the owner has peace of mind. No artificial/plastic baits - why? because if snapped of/cut offf or whatever that's a permanently baited rig sitting pretty on the bottom waiting to be picked up time and time again, whereas boilies or other non plastic baits will come off the hair after a couple of days or so, therefore no longer being picked up. No homemade baits - why? well what have they got in? has it been tested for a good period of time? people use all sorts of stinky winky to save money and the products may not even be safe for consumption. ALL good rules those - very sensible

last year I dropped into a swim with fish showing in front of it, but when I started setting up a guy in the peg opposite shouted over that he was fishing the swim but from the other side. I told him tough and if he saw fish showing in another swim and wanted to fish for them he should have moved if he wanted exclusivity he didn't like that and messaged the lake owner to complain and was promptly told to reel in and fish within the boundaries of his own swim and stop being a twit. I don't mind people fishing outside of their swims, in fact I do it a lot but if someone drops in the swim your cast to then you reel in (I even go and tell them where ive been putting bait) unfortunately like people in everyday life anglers can be turds as well

Don’t agree with this. It’s not a silly rule for no reason it’s to protect the business, club, etc. From potential devastating disease. It isn’t 100% effective. Not even 50% if done wrong but it’s better than 0%. You have idiots that don’t care at all. Point in case, Broadlands has had KHV confirmed, yes it’ll be laying dormant in these temps but it’s still transferable. There is anglers fishing it, not just for carp I may add. The pike anglers will be hitting it soon too. They are endangering every other fishery they come in to contact with as weather at the minute you won’t get 48hrs of sunshine to dry off kit thoroughly. You can’t control the anglers so forcing them to dip on the way in (if you do fish somewhere you have to then PLEASE dip on your way out too to stop you carrying anything out of there!) is the only control.

I really dont think it does, bites on my water have slowed right down, its designed attraction (its possible its an investigative trigger that it uses) will only appeal in the short term the base is minimal on the nutritional front but is digestable which might be another reason they keep picking it up, but they will soon work out there not gaining anything from eating it. That time frame though can vary from water type to water type, also how much of it a water is seeing might be a factor as well.

Had 2 of them snap on me within an hour of each other. Never used nash hooks since. Sure they probably just a bad batch but confidence and all that mate .

Not the first time I have seen mentions of bait company loosing some important people recently, last time they didn't name the company but did say some of the folk had gone to baitworks.

3 lakes. Not many swims. I don’t fish it but I know it I always carry two nets. Just in case I get a miracle double take or take just as I land a fish. Sometimes it can happen on the hardest of venues.

I believe a lot of fisheries use Virkon S , as a disinfectant.

Quite a lot of money though hey, 50 plus mats, 100 odd nets, 50 odd slings. All would need replacing after being left out for a year (pricey). At least the guy takes it seriously and is trying hey 👍

Just me mate there are no super hidden ingredients in the bait industry most are from the animal feed market, and there are no super veg protein ingredients in use (but there are a couple of good ones), Cell is mainly cereal meal the rest can be guessed as the ingredients are on the bag. Sticky are better at what they do for my money. In the 90's everything wasn't about hitting a price, fishmeal was a lot cheaper than it is now quality hasn't changed and so were high end refined milks which are now also super expensive, some of the best baits out there are still in there original form Essential B5, Premier Baits Fish Mixes, BFM, Trigga to name but a few, all still catch loads of fish a year. Dynamite went through a stage of using a lot of bread crumb in there mixes to cut them, Don't believe everything you read in the mags or see posted on bait companies catch reports a lot of them have not been caught on what they say they have, also alot of the Korda boys use Baitworks in there off screen fishing.

if a day ticket fishing complex wants to truly protect themselves from the spread of disease they should provide nets mats and slings. having a net dip rule just makes anglers think they're ok not to dry their nets out properly because the dip will sort it which just isn't the case

It’s the UV that kills the diseases. Not being dry. Most can lay dormant in dry/slightly damp conditions for a week or more. Places with no dips, or their own equipment, are a ticking time bomb IMO. You can’t trust every angler to do the right thing. Dips are annoying, and most aren’t maintained properly. But not a silly rule.

One of the lakes I fish have a few weird rules... No particle No artificial /plastic baits No home made baits unless its checked with the owners first. Do they enforce the rules? Lol Put it this way I've fished there for 13 years and never had my bait bucket or rigs checked lol

Sorry no drones is not a silly rule , I go to relax not to have some plonker flying a drone all over the place same as bait boats on most waters .

All I care about is nature, the fish, the lakes etc.. I find it a bit hypocritical for some anglers to turn up with a load of fish care equipment and then chuck preservatives into a lake.... Just my op'.

Sodium Benzoate, or salts derived from benzoic acid (an old school nasty preservative) are what some firms are using as their "human grade" preservative...….. Not good for Cyprinids…..( This I picked up on from elsewhere0 A lot of big names in bait making were quoted by another member on a different post and used as a reason to trust bait firms..... But to be honest, some of those names don't trust the bait firms and have moved on to other companies in the past...… Once a bait has been tinkered with to get through the machines quicker and chopped about a bit by the money men to make more profit, it's likely, that the bait that ends up in a bag on the shelves, is a shadow of the original bait, designed by said name.... Hence, imo, the honest guys amongst them moving on. Some won't , but lets be honest, some of the worlds best chefs, will still be seen on the packaging of ready meals in order to sell rubbish to the unsuspecting public..... £££££££££££££££

Yes Kev, I'm being to doubt my reasoning for doing it, hence why I've started this thread. We do get 'done' far more than we realise, the underwater films sometime make me wonder how we ever catch them at all! I try to tip all the odds in my favour, good bait, sharp hook, resetting rigs (noramally combi's), fluorocarbon leader and slackish line but still get a lot of 'twitches and pulls' that I'm sure are fish mouthing and rejecting the bait. Most of my fishing in the warmer months is based around spodding fairly large quantities of hemp/mixed seeds/sweetcorn and fishing either a boilie or fake corn over the top. I can see that creating that competitive feeding zone in a small area can lead to that rather than using a throwing stick to put 100 boilies over the area of a tennis court to encourage 'browsing and moving' feeding to hopefully convert more pick up's into runs. Most of my fishing is on a local club lake that is day fishing only that is fairly prolific and it is noticable that I can almost 'buy' a bite by regularly spodding to freshen up the area, I've even caught when spodding over the top and that includes sloppy casts that create a huge splash. I've also fished larger waters like B1 on Linear where Spodding/Spombing seems to be the norm, the classic 'OX29 fishing' as it's more commonly known. My mine quandry is that I want to be sure that I have some bait in the swim to attract and hold the fish but also to be confident that the carp can feed in realitive peace and not spook. So, let's say I'm fishing B1 and have had a quiet night. I've not had a bite all night and it's now an hour past dawn. Would you spod now or leave it and how much longer?

Personally I like the LED Lenser H7R , The beauty with this is that it has a sliding power control as opposed to most that have 2 or 3 brightness settings.
