I mentioned bird flu in the original post, it looks like it has hit again. The lake is down to 7 swans, 3 of which look like yearling cygnets from one of the dominant pairs. 

The lack of numbers has meant that the dominant males are not so aggressive and not such a pain in the rectum.

 

And a couple of pictures from the last two sessions, taken in the same swim on the other side of the lake.

Just to the left of the picture on the far side is the copse that Sky and I were using for shade.

This has to be one of my favourite rod shots, taken this week, with the sunset.

 a nice break in the hail, from last week, broke out the “lightweight” kit, 11ft 2 1/4tc shimano Areo rods, okuma barbarian 040 reels, 10lb line.

something a bit different, Leeda Icon Elite Match rods and Daiwa 7HT multipliers, hunting bass at 5am! 
 

had a nice brace of bass, best going 4lb. 
(3 doggies too 🙄)

I had no bass, but 11 doggies on Friday night.

Mine are Daiwa 7HT's on a 12ft6in Daiwa Sandstorm and a 12ft6in Daiwa SeaHunter Z.

I fished there in the early 90's when it was one of the few places that allowed close season fishing.

Yes it was, there were a few others in the South too - now closed Bury Hill springs to mind - 'any method Trout fishing' 😂

At that time the South West didn't have a close season I remember?

No digital stuff in those days as you know, I do have a few more but seems hard to believe now but a 'roll of film' only had 24 or 36 pics to take, oh and the wait to get them back from boots! 😃
