Returning to the fold

Recommended Posts

Hi, I’m sparky and based in the north west, I’m just getting back into fishing after a 20 yr break. My love for it never diminished but personal situation led me to putting the rods away and never getting around to getting them back out. Wherever I go I’m always looking for waters to spend a bit of time sat beside. I’m not really competitive so not bothered about catching the biggest fish or largest amount, I just want to spend time beside beautiful lakes without to much stress. I hope everyone is coping well during these times and hopefully soon we’ll be able to get back out on the banks properly. The picture is of me in the mid 80’s with  a 15lb common from Pilsworth fishery between Rochdale and Bury

Wigan me... Obviously fish round Wigan at moment - Fan Lodge, 3sisters, Figure 8.

But abit further once restrictions lifted - Mere Lane fishery, DrummersDale, Rosemary Wood.

They are the main ones I've been too, but there are quite a few to go at.

I may have to pick your brains soon, I’m looking for THE water to spend my time on. Not heard of DrummerDale, or the Wigan ones, tho obviously heard of three sisters I didn’t know there was fishing there

Just been looking on the web about three sisters, but not much up to date info and most of the comments are pretty negative 😕

It is an open park, but I love it me, I work with a fella who used to be a Council Ranger and 3 Sisters was 1 of em... Took his advice and I've had 5 fish in 5 visits... Is a shallow lake and deepest is 5ft near the outlet... I will down the over hanging, snaggy outlet end tomorrow.

Owned by council but no 1 bailiffs, so it's free fishing at moment, but I was there a few weeks and had E.A down to do a netting stock take and they were impressed.
