"Decent" barbless hooks????
commonly replied to smufter's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
Let us know how you get on with them buddy? Soddit, I'm not a fan of barbless, but I may as well try them myself!! -
Do they own or rent it? Have they tried a EA or local authority, business loan/grant? My friend rents 2 small lakes from local council, they just spent alot of money on the damns. They haven't even put his rent up. There are several good fish farms local to me. Fry upto 40+ lb, give it 5_10 years it could / should get back to form. + fencing obviously. How big is it

You must be fuming geeza! I really hope you can rebuild what must of been the jewel in your crown.

"Decent" barbless hooks????
commonly replied to smufter's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I looked at these a while back, when a certain venue allowed/recommended them. I posted on here! Only one reply! Said they were OK! I'd consider buying a pack if I had to fish a barbless venue. -
Time will tell, got a good feeling about the estate venue this year

There's one for £18, 😂!! Ive always thought carp tax has driven these remote control boats to extortionate prices. I'm no expert but for this boat, new motors are around a tenner the battery pack is around £20. If it puts my rig & bait in a spot I cannot cast to, why does the cost of it matter??

I sometimes wonder why we put our kids in school?? , you can see toddlers know their way around a tablet or phone, scary??

We live in very interesting times. Who doesn't Google??

I can use a boat on my estate waters & this year I'm going to put a bit of time in there. Having been there the other day, I reckon a bait boat will give me an edge. Plus it gets all overgrown and left to nature, so some of the spots that look carpy are impossible to cast to. So looking online I've found this at around the £100 mark. Reviews I've read seem OK & the nearest one up is around the £300 mark. Any thoughts or comments please

Hi mick, If you want or have to fish, at any sort of distance, yes get longer rods. If there's a few swims where you don't need to cast as far as possible, then stick with what your confident with for the time being. I believe that you need to feel comfortable and confident in approaching a new venue. Good luck, 🤞

Managed to wangle a few hours at my estate ticket water today. I had to take the apprentices, whom I will lay blame to for blanking. Kids don't do quiet, when there's 3 of them🤫 Nice to do a little bit of lake watching though!

Had an eventful night... I took my 7 year old son. We had a nice afternoon, burgers, little fire in a bbq to roast marshmallows. He was sick at some point, so at midnight when the pike rod went screaming off, I had a little extra in my sliders!!! Nice scrappy pike, launched itself out of the water a couple of times. Had fun & games disgorging the trebles, he did not like my long forceps in his mouth. I thought it best to recover & release him. I'd say he was a mid double. Usual interference from the swans & tufftys this morning, but sadly no carp.

2 carp rods & 1 for pike, so I'm hoping to get a bend on at least one of them!

I've got the green light for an overnighter tomorrow! Due to financial reasons I won't be renewing this ticket next season, so I've got a couple of trips to to try & hook one of my target commons. Any suggestions to maximise my chances on a quick overnighter?? As I'm writing, I'm already kicking myself for not having brought some maggot!! Eerrrggghhhhh!

What rig best to use in winter for silkweed
commonly replied to Carp123_0's topic in UK Carp Fishing
I'd happily chuck out a naked chod, I'd only use a leader if there's a few snags. -
Unless I'm with a mate, or there's someone in the next swim, I don't often bother weighing or taking pics. This was my eldest sons first overnighter, as above, as a dad, it has to be up there as one of my most memorable & enjoyable trips. It was 2 summers ago, & he's still going on about the cat! I don't like them myself so tend to avoid venues with them in.

This 22lb linear, only a stocky, from my 3 years on current syndicate, known to be one of the hardest lakes in the country.. Was I buzzing when I caught that??? Hell yeah!! I know the picture is a bit naff, but like a lot of my captures, I don't need a puffed up pic of me holding it, laid on the matt is fine by me for the memory of the battle

Mint fish dave, must make you happy to of had those stunners

Me too

As above, quite a few fond memories stirred up, thinking of which one to choose? Close was my first ever carp, when I thought, what the blooming hell have I hooked here!!! Unforgettable! But this lump has stood as my pb for quite a few years now. One of the few 30'S on a hard weedy little syndicate. I fished it on & off for 2 years, blanked, before I found the spots, the bait, the rig. I put in the effort to catch almost all the target fish in the lake. Just the big common eluded me. Dammit! Those were the days I could go every week!!
