  1. Had this little fella looking for a cheap brekky this morning
  2. Had an eventful night... I took my 7 year old son. We had a nice afternoon, burgers, little fire in a bbq to roast marshmallows. He was sick at some point, so at midnight when the pike rod went screaming off, I had a little extra in my sliders!!! Nice scrappy pike, launched itself out of the water a couple of times. Had fun & games disgorging the trebles, he did not like my long forceps in his mouth. I thought it best to recover & release him. I'd say he was a mid double. Usual interference from the swans & tufftys this morning, but sadly no carp.
  3. 2 carp rods & 1 for pike, so I'm hoping to get a bend on at least one of them!
  4. I've got the green light for an overnighter tomorrow! Due to financial reasons I won't be renewing this ticket next season, so I've got a couple of trips to to try & hook one of my target commons. Any suggestions to maximise my chances on a quick overnighter?? As I'm writing, I'm already kicking myself for not having brought some maggot!! Eerrrggghhhhh!
  5. I'd happily chuck out a naked chod, I'd only use a leader if there's a few snags.
  6. Unless I'm with a mate, or there's someone in the next swim, I don't often bother weighing or taking pics. This was my eldest sons first overnighter, as above, as a dad, it has to be up there as one of my most memorable & enjoyable trips. It was 2 summers ago, & he's still going on about the cat! I don't like them myself so tend to avoid venues with them in.
  7. This 22lb linear, only a stocky, from my 3 years on current syndicate, known to be one of the hardest lakes in the country.. Was I buzzing when I caught that??? Hell yeah!! I know the picture is a bit naff, but like a lot of my captures, I don't need a puffed up pic of me holding it, laid on the matt is fine by me for the memory of the battle
  8. Mint fish dave, must make you happy to of had those stunners
  9. Me too
  10. As above, quite a few fond memories stirred up, thinking of which one to choose? Close was my first ever carp, when I thought, what the blooming hell have I hooked here!!! Unforgettable! But this lump has stood as my pb for quite a few years now. One of the few 30'S on a hard weedy little syndicate. I fished it on & off for 2 years, blanked, before I found the spots, the bait, the rig. I put in the effort to catch almost all the target fish in the lake. Just the big common eluded me. Dammit! Those were the days I could go every week!!
  11. You lucky bar steward! Well jell
  12. Just been sent this from a buddy, cracked me up
  13. Have you tried doubling up the bag or mesh? Should give you a bit slower melt
  14. The pants or leads???
  15. Hardcore, love it! Good luck buzz
  16. Not too bad, caught my pb mirror 30, not quite snow, but near freezing about 4years ago. Pics are on an old laptop, so can't include it. My old syndicate, took a few years to unlock the secrets, then I'd catch regularly no matter what the weather.
  17. If I'm prepared, I don't mind an overnighter, been quite a few times in minus 2oC, had a few fish for the effort too. Pack up first thing & head fora nice hot bath!
  18. I second that mate. But I like being married & the perks that brings! Roll on retirement in 20 years!
  19. Mine have been collecting dust for a few years now!
  20. Did anyone else the tumbleweed blowing down the street??? Need to get a new troll for a bit of xcitment on here
  21. Nike sliders offer a bit more cred!
  22. No just the monsters!! Alot of them have been eaten!! (re thought of the day)
  23. Well I've either got to wait to win the lottery or the kids have moved out, before I can afford the trip. Yeah. His last few & upcoming ones appear to be out at sea?? Surely a spin off is in order?? Sea monsters? Doesn't have the same impact!! Lol
  24. Just watched last week's monster carp. Thailand, some lake run by a father son team. OMG! They had a red letter sesh & a really good laugh. Braces of Siamese carp ar 100lb one caught to 150 lb!! & Aripima (which I think is a beautiful fish & on my bucket wish list) That episode, whilst cheesy, is up there with one of the best I've seen
  25. If they are eating our quarry??? 100% both!!!
