  1. just come back from there buddy, watch out for the touts, they rip you off. where about you off to?
  2. i bagged mine into carrier bags full and taped em shut then put 3 or 4 carriers into a bin bag and taped that too, i then store them in my wooden shed with a couple of dehumidifiers on. i take them a half bucket at a time and reseal it all each time.
  3. been using it for a few years now and believe me when i say, it simplifies the job, its quick (when you get the hang) and its great for getting consistently proportioned bags. once you have invested in the rapide system you can get the refills cheaper from the bay, almost everyone makes same size bags
  4. like most methods you will find that no two anglers will use pva in exactly the same way, i personally use the Fox Rapide solid bag system. the bag is first layered with a nut based flour such as peanut/almond flour and the lead and hook dipped in the same, lower the hookbait in and tap it down with the lead, add a small layer of fine pellets and lay the lead on top then top up the bag with pellets, crumb or whatever your choice of bait. gently ease your lead up in the bag till the A/T sleeve is just poking up then seal the bag, fold down bottom corners and stick, job done. i use a 2.75 T/C rod with a 2.5oz lead and this casts quite nicely out to C75yds. heres how its done, just F/F to 2:18 to skip the jargon
  5. Just gotta buy a £1's worth of white ones now bud just remember to keep em away from moisture, bit of damp and they ruined
  6. it was thru watching Jules that i got into the habit of using two colours, then you know that both pieces have come off
  7. hey Davey(with a lot of Y's) my better half is a product tester and we get shed loads of nuggets, i have used them for donks but what i do is cut them down the middle and use them to slow my hook descent down so it trails behind the lead without wrapping, helps with the hook lay too. they pop up to the surface within seconds so i have no worries about them masking the point either. one word of warning tho, some DO seem to take an age to melt, particularly the coloured ones so take a sample from a batch and do a tank test then stick to the ones that work best for you
  8. too much bovril buddy, addled his brains
  9. haha!! never mind the little one, look at the smile on the hairy ones face keep on keeping on bud and he will get there oh yeh!! and welcome too the forum

  13. welcome to the forum Ryder i use a set of 3 fox warriors of which one was sold as a dedicated marker rod, two main at 2.75 Tc and the marker is 3.25 Tc, believe me when i say that marker rod is always used as my distance rod, i can chuck between 75-100 yds with the 2.75s without trying and that is usually about my range for fishing accurately but then when i have set my traps the marker rod gets pub chucked at a distant feature (just for luck ;)) and 150+ is nowt,, saying that it shed an eye ring last weekend as the braid frapped round the eye and i had a loaded spomb on at the time, nearly wrenched the damn rod out of my hands when it locked up
  14. think you might find that advice to be a tad late bet he went

apparently, the first outbreaks of KHV were in a private pond in the USA, the owner had not long taken a stocking of fish from a Kibutz in Israel. just been doing a bit of digging to try to find which Kibutz and found a more recent paper on immunization, you were partly right about the vaccination @chillfactor the paper states that the Israeli carp are inoculated while still under 1 year old, they cannot contract KHV or SVC and are not carriers of either so they cannot pass it on, but they also cannot yet pass on the immunity to their young, also at the time of print the carp have to be in their first year for it to be effective.

according to science direct, Quote"Intra-muscular and oral vaccination using a Koi Herpesvirus ORF25 DNA vaccine does not confer protection in common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.)" the search for an effective inoculation is still ongoing, and will be for some time yet. i did hear from somewhere that it was the Israelis diddling about with the species that caused the virus to mutate in the first place?
  22. wonder who will get the babysitting job when they start to come along
