  1. two versions of the rig that have worked best for me this year both on coated braid (esp two tone15lb) to a mugga size 8, top rig is for double 14mm boilie on the hair and a string of soluble nash donuts, bottom is a hinged version for fishing a snowman or popped up corn over particles note the aggressive angle of the aligner and the way the hair comes off the bottom of the hook, gets em every time
  2. hey carpbell, lived in brum for 20 years while working near the city. me and a mate used to go to bishops and dog lane regular we also went to Wellford pools a lot too, down by Fairford Swindon. got permission to relocate back to my hometown of Wolverhampton a couple of years ago so i'm now in a local club lots of small nicely stocked waters too, yay me androoooo will pm you soonest k,
  3. you should consider joining my club matey, only 95 a year but for that you get 8 lakes, primarily carp but plenty of other species, two stretches of the severn at bridgenorth and erdington and even a mile of canal for the descerning angler lol and none of them more than an hour from shifnal not one what you might call a runs water but plenty fish stocks and if your learning the trade you can always get a lake to yourself for some peace and quiet
  4. Hi Beech, found this, may be of use to you Tourists usually only find Glyncorrwg by accident. It lies at the head of a cul-de-sac valley well off the beaten track. On the outskirts are two narrow coarse lake a bit over 2 acres apiece. Depth is variable up to 10ft or so and averages 6-8ft with excellent mature banks. Set in a deep narrow valley the surroundings are both attractive and scenic. Fed by small mountain streams the water is generally very clear perfect conditions for the growth of elodea crispa weed of which there is plenty. It's easy enough to clear a suitable swim fortunately. The bigger fish are notoriously skilled in using it to their advantage so use tackle hefty enough to cope. Bronze bream roach and tench inhabit the upper lake while the lower one has a few tench and plenty of common and mirror carp. You won't get mammoth specimens here (the carp weigh-in up to around 18lbs) but for all-year pleasure fishing in an unusual and attractive location it's hard to beat.
