  1. just one, swap the split shot for tungsten putty. split shots have a habit of pinging off, leaving your pop up popped right up
  2. what he said you could always hold the hair on the bend of the hook with about 3mm of shrink tube  ignore the line aligner on the eye, thats just my preference

  4. oh thats ok then,i thought "soon he will be giving it a lift out on a bait boat" as apposed to being cruel and chucking it out

  9. whelford can be really good on the day, but i guess that goes for most pools i have fished all pegs on both pools but i find that the peg before and after the little bridge on the right hand bank (going up from the car park) and the peg just after the bit that cuts the pool in half can be the most prolific. shop opens at about 9:00 and the chap who runs it is full of info. just my 2 cents worth
  10. i actually wrote a loooong post that basically said "stick with the way you are doing it" it works just as i was about to click 'post' the baby picked up the mouse and deleted it welcome to the forum and just remember, pin yr boilies down
  11. yeh but it do generate some revenue, if 500 anglers around the country use those rigs on any one particular day, they catch an average of 3 fish each and they drop the lead on each one. at around £2.00 per lead and taken over say a six month period that only equates to £18000 so even if the lead isnt dropped on every one. still a lot of wonga init
  12. looks to me like SAFE no longer means safe, its now just synonymous with 'more money in the bank' would be interesting to get danny and kevins take on the SAFETY aspect tho.
  13. don't know about now but it was always a nice day out. i didn't actually catch that fish in the first pic, i had left my boilie on a slab by the waters edge and the carp wriggled onto the slab and slurped it up. i wish i had had a camcorder there cos it was hilarious, three of us were laughing so hard that he almost got the rod as well
  14. talking about holt pool, just found these in an old album folder on me pc, and a couple of the local residents nostalgic look back to warmer days
  15. that just looks like a critically balanced pop up to me i may be wrong tho
  16. i will post some pics as soon as i can take some, never thought about it much before but there seems to be an infinite number of ways to 'lead up' on here
  17. if you play your cards right £7.50 for two rods aint bad can vouch for bill being a top bloke, he is also amenable to a bit of beer money too lol (just means no ticket)
  18. i cant seem to move away from fox AP's and covert mugga's, went to my local purveyor of tackle the other day to get some korda wide gape for corn, and conversation went like this " mornin, what can i do you for?" me " pack of fox arma size 8 plz) bug ger done it again
  19. hi daniel, if you thread the line thru the eye then back again and leave a tail about 4" long, complete the palomar knot and pull down to the hook. now if you pinch the 'hair' along the shank of the hook and double it back till you have 1 1/2" loop, you should be able to put an overhand knot in and pull it down with a gated bait hook. i have done it numerous times and can now get the hair down to a reasonable size, so practice will make perfect. i will see if i can find a vid for you just on a side note, if you are using this to mount a mixer on the hook, consider using bait bands, easier and more effective imho
  20. happy after a good day :)
