  1. DF bashing is becoming a bit of a pastime, but to be fair to the bloke it don't matter who DF, KN, RG. they might be nice blokes to talk to but they ALL want your money. that's why they are in business. even the "educating the youngsters" line is aimed at generating cash in the long run. every bit of tackle that they produce, good or bad is aimed at getting wonga out of your wallet. every FREE dvd is just promotional gumph to get you to buy their gear and line their pockets. every angler that they sponsor is just a walking advert that most carpers see as hero's and seek to emulate, thereby further generating cashola. all purveyors of carp tackle sell c rap as well as gold, you just have to be astute enough to see thru the hype and choose wisely. so go ahead and bash DF if you feel you need to, but dont forget that others are just as guilty of opportunism. i do apologize to Danny, Kevin and Richard for using you as examples but that does apply across the board to all tackle developers and manufacturers and in fact ANY one who is in the business of supplying goods to the public. rant over
  2. he can start with me then,, its been a looooonnng time
  3. your quite right, i see the similarity now.
  4. hey NM, if this is what you have then yes. i have been making them for years. if i have it right tho the Gardner ones were balanced by a weighted base which you cocked by tightening down. mine are sort of ledger float style with a running ledger on the mainline and you feed out till its cocked right.
  5. anybody used a suspender float? i used to make my own but haven't used em this season what do you think of them and how effective do you find them?
  6. weelll, that seals the argument then. i should be out on the bank, not sitting here moping

  13. nah, like this go to your library on p/b, click the pic then when it loads if you click the link called 'direct' it will go yellow and 'copied' above the chat box here you will see little icons, take bottom row 9th from the right and click. in the popup box right click and paste, click 'ok' and WOW magic edit about tapatalk, i can never get that to work for me so i u/l to pc when i get home
  14. si, i have a well known brand net with a fine mesh but i also get this problem from time to time. i put it down to the carp sometimes having a dorsal bone with a small barb that stands out from the fin and while the fish struggles in the net it becomes pushed thru the mesh. a little care and patience soon sees the carp back in the water unharmed i will add tho that my net is a fox warrior s and as far as i know that model has one of the fines meshes available on a landing net.
  15. get an account on photobucket, put your pics in a library on there then put them direct into your post like this thats not me by the way
  16. all of my hooks are Microbarb (well all the ones i use anyhoo). just take a pair of pliers along and if you need to just crush the barb. if you do it right, just grab the barb by the very end and you can form a hump on the hook. while this is no longer a barb i think it still offers some resistance to slippage of the hook. that is MY take on it anyway
  17. haven't landed a chub in over 45 years, can still remember it tho nice fish nick, back to basics too
  18. 4.5mm ACE Elements Gorilla Rings are a good choice for this application, saves butchering a swivel
  19. heya, welcome to the asylum how to keep crayfish off your hook bait eh? simples, first you do this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Crab-Fish-Crayfish-Lobster-Shrimp-Prawn-Eel-Live-Trap-Net-Bait-Fishing-Pot-Cage-/301251230710?pt=UK_SportingGoods_FishingAcces_RL&hash=item4623f8fbf6 then you do this http://www.bourbonandboots.com/how-to-boil-and-eat-crawfish/ revenge can be sooooo sweet
  20. all sound info from androoooo, or you could always drop a bit of mackerel in a cray pot in the margins. then get your own back and boil em up with chilli and paprika,,, yummy
  21. i'm not going sooooo, nope. by the way, its polite to say hi first
  22. if you shorten the hair, then change your bait later you may find your kicking yourself. i tie 3 or 4 rigs with hairs of different lengths, one to accommodate corn or a single boilie up to a long hair that will take a double 20mm boilie. then all you have to do is snap on a different hook link. any how it only takes half a shake to make one up on the bank to exactly suit what you are doing at that particular time, and if your a tightwad like me you can break it down again and save the hook (after sharpening) and any rings, swivels or putty for another day oh BTW ad of the day is for Barbie Mega Blocks????? go figure
  23. you could try this one, my wife and i did the lodge thing and he discounts the fishing too, prices were very keen and the lodge was superior tis also roumored to hold fish up to the 30s http://www.whelfordpools.co.uk/ just done a route check and its only 30 miles straight down the A417
  24. 1kg of powder using the above measure (250g to 1ltr) is = +_ 50 large eggs  http://convert-to.com/720/chicken-eggs-5-sizes-conversion-plus-nutrients-values.html google is your friend
