  1. i think the power lines miss the pool by about 200 yds Nick
  2. if you can do it with a 2.5oz without drawing blood your hooks aren't sharp enough
  3. cats!! a different branch of angling
  4. lovin it bud,, keep up the good stuff
  5. looks like it may have new owners then, name change and cleaned swims = new money. wonder if the old stock is still there??
  6. right!! by the foaming jug i presume you mean the Oaken arms at Kingswood? if so then the pool is the one just over the lights toward albrighton, yes? ok, i used to fish the pool up the left fork between the summerhouse and the horns of bonningale and at that time (3 years ago) the pool you are talking about was owned by a riding school and was open for day tickets. old story, riding school goes bust and goes on sale to include the pool, sale falls thru twice but all fishing was stopped the day the school closed, i have been passed on numerous occasions but the sign has never changed from a white square with an angler with rod and fish with the word fishing starting with an exaggerated cap F. last time i went passed was about 4-5 weeks ago and it was the same so if it has changed to 'brick hill pit then i would assume that it has reopened under a new name. there were rumors of some really nice carp in there up to mid 20s and one mirror 'one scale' one large scale on each gill plate being a part time 30. after being ejected by security on a couple of occasions when the place was unoccupied while having a 'scout around' i gave up on the place but still have hopes hope that helps Jon
  7. hey Del, dont be put of by the 'P' taking, its standard fare most days but we mean well feel free to return the jibes
  8. never heard of it matey and i have lived and fished around wolves for over 50 years. where about is it as it may be known by another name cos colloquial names tend to stick round here like Mill ride pools aka the pig farm aka Bills pools. if you have more info i may know sommat
  9. hi and welcome to the forum carp fishing for years and im still rusty tight lines,,,, Rusty
  10. sorry you had such a negative reaction but we are so very anal about the way we treat fish over here, you should read my response to a bloke who came on here chatting about ice fishing or the one who was talking about Australia's wanting to introduce a disease to control the numbers, really ripped em a new Ar,,, ooh better not put that it all boils down to enjoy yourself as long as you treat your quarry with respect, hope to see you grow as a new American carper and post lots of pics. have fun,,, Jon a good accesible alternative to an unhooking mat would be one of these wrapped in a plastic trash bag https://www.amazon.com/MidWest-Quiet-Deluxe-Ombre-Swirl/dp/B003D7LCRM/ref=sr_1_22?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1526050010&sr=1-22&keywords=dog+beds
  11. as above and while your busy buying the carp safety gear please please please buy some camo gear, just shorts and tee to start cos you will never catch if you dont look carpy 😂 😂 😂 welcome to the mad house buddy, those are some crackers eh!!
  12. i like the colour of your jib young man i would have said 'cut' but their isnt an americanism for that
  13. The tfg boots i had were not as nice as those Primals,, the rubber toe came right up to the start of the tongue and the flexing at the joint as you walked was why they cracked. your right about the Primals being pikey look alikes
  14. i normally fish with a 2.5oz lead, dont like the idea of going and heavier than that.
  15. i had the tfg ones a couple of years ago and my only problem was that they split where the rubber toe cap joined the more flexible boot, two pairs went like that.
  16. they are actually hunters boots so well good for the outside but the realtree is a nice touch
  17. Jack Pike Tundra boots in realtree, best boots i ever did own, waterproof and breathable with thinsulate inside and at £69.95 or less they aint got no carp tax (BONUS) i have worn them all day including driving with none of that 'oh gawd' when you take them off, i just hose them down when they get caked and they are as new looking as when i first got them about 18 months ago. would highly recomend.
  18. not as if you went and bought a rod is it
  19. ah, i see. i will have a look thru my old stuff to see if i have one lying around ok
  20. not unless he can get it at a trade price better than i can,,, OOPS just gave my bloke a ring and i can now get it at 50p per mtr, summat to do with stock being sold off in advance of a new EU directive coming down
