rude not to 🤣

if its a certain then they would be out, have you seen what a leaking battery can do to your contacts??? if you use them regular then you will be aware when the batts are dead and change them, but just stored then they could leak for a month or two then its an expensive repair or (as in most cases) new alarms. as an aside and to demonstrate the destructive capabilities of a leaking battery, once when we went away on holiday my wife left her tri color gold necklace on an upstairs windowsill and there was a battery nearby that had been taken from a dead remote, when we got back the necklace was spotted and she went to put it in her jewelry box, the batt had leaked a clear fluid and it pooled beneath the necklace, as she tried to pick it up the gold just turned to dust, (fortunately it was covered lol) if it can de-nature a gold necklace what do you think it will do to your delicate alarm innards?

started by accident while ghosting thru Builth on the river Wye and just downstream of the town we hit a short set of rapids, end of day we were in the camper looking at maps for fast water. we ended up in Scotland up in the Grampians, have a look at the Grandtully rapids on the Tay or the Linn of Tummel on the river Tummel, guaranteed they more scary than that kiddies playground in the vid above

haha!! no problems, me and my buddy used to do it in a canadian. in a kayak with a skirt on your basically sitting in a big air bubble that will float no matter what you do, the only two exceptions are holing it on a sharp rock or if you are thrown out during a big drop, a canadian is an open canoe and ships water easily, less stable so more prone to capsize but way more buzz

strike that place off me list then a belated welcome to the forum there buddy

Flavour of the Week - Bobbins/Swingers/Indicators
cyborx replied to yonny's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
+1 for the wychwood slugs, i have em in white as the white body and the black line grips are easy to see in day or night, also i find them so versatile that you can set them at half mast on totally slack lines. -
if your not bothered about being a tackle tart then these are worth looking at, i got a set of 3 for £30 10+ years ago and they are still doing the job, one is getting a bit noisy now so one day i will have to upgrade to something more expensive like Bassia's https://www.fishingmegastore.com/specialist-reels/lineaeffe-freespool-carp-reel-with-line~23965.html?&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=SHP_GR20&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwauOzdiD3QIVS7DtCh2Hvg8PEAQYAiABEgIU2fD_BwE

welcome to the forum bud, another vote for 15lb+ mainline and a good braid/coated braid hooklink. hooks between #8 to #4 and as Nick says a softer more thru action rod would give you more chance of playing and landing your fish.
-
just come back from there buddy, watch out for the touts, they rip you off. where about you off to?
-
i bagged mine into carrier bags full and taped em shut then put 3 or 4 carriers into a bin bag and taped that too, i then store them in my wooden shed with a couple of dehumidifiers on. i take them a half bucket at a time and reseal it all each time.
-
been using it for a few years now and believe me when i say, it simplifies the job, its quick (when you get the hang) and its great for getting consistently proportioned bags. once you have invested in the rapide system you can get the refills cheaper from the bay, almost everyone makes same size bags
-
like most methods you will find that no two anglers will use pva in exactly the same way, i personally use the Fox Rapide solid bag system. the bag is first layered with a nut based flour such as peanut/almond flour and the lead and hook dipped in the same, lower the hookbait in and tap it down with the lead, add a small layer of fine pellets and lay the lead on top then top up the bag with pellets, crumb or whatever your choice of bait. gently ease your lead up in the bag till the A/T sleeve is just poking up then seal the bag, fold down bottom corners and stick, job done. i use a 2.75 T/C rod with a 2.5oz lead and this casts quite nicely out to C75yds. heres how its done, just F/F to 2:18 to skip the jargon

Just gotta buy a £1's worth of white ones now bud just remember to keep em away from moisture, bit of damp and they ruined

what leader do you use for rigs ??
cyborx replied to carpyian's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
not a fan of leaders, 15lb mono straight thru -
it was thru watching Jules that i got into the habit of using two colours, then you know that both pieces have come off
-
hey Davey(with a lot of Y's) my better half is a product tester and we get shed loads of nuggets, i have used them for donks but what i do is cut them down the middle and use them to slow my hook descent down so it trails behind the lead without wrapping, helps with the hook lay too. they pop up to the surface within seconds so i have no worries about them masking the point either. one word of warning tho, some DO seem to take an age to melt, particularly the coloured ones so take a sample from a batch and do a tank test then stick to the ones that work best for you
