  1. I agree , Elmo . Yes my Deeper Pro+ is so much quicker at mapping than a marker float , and lead , but I can never find the interesting spots the Deeper finds later on with my Marker .
  2. Thanks very much , Blue . Now I have some thinking to do , as I believe I own the Sharpes Scottie you mention ( have to get my tape measure out ) . The thing is for speed at the end of a session I leave my rods , complete with pop up , tackled up and just take them apart and put them in a rod sleeve . I don't think a cane rod would appreciate this sort of abuse . I did meet Chris Ball once , and he mentioned that as waters were weedier these days he had moved from using a cane rod to a fibreglass Jack Hilton Carp 1 1/2 t/c . πŸ€”
  3. Hi Blue . I should be going to The Yorkshire Vintage Tackle Fair next month which made me think " if Blue. could only keep 1 of his cane rods which 1 would it be ? " . Also " Is the B. James Mk. 4 Carp Rod the best rod to have ? " . πŸ˜ƒ
  4. Just thought of another question please , Blue . Do you have a preference as to what time of year you fish with prawns ? . πŸ˜ƒ

    But I don't smoke 😒 .
  6. You mean you didn't rush outside , and say " it's o.k.Wifey , I , Framey your Husband will scrape your car windscreen " ? . ☺️
  7. I think I remember Chris Ball writing in the little book he wrote with Brian Skoyles that he used 6lb ( ? ) Maxima paired with a 9ft. Seeker rod to catch carp up to 30lbs . I might pull on my big boy pants , and use 10lb Hydrotuff , because I stress about snags , and I don't know if I have the cojones to go down to 8lb .😱 Just a case of balanced tackle I guess ? . πŸ˜ƒ
  8. Good grief , if it isn't that rusty , old , Iron . How are you , Newmarket ? . πŸ˜ƒ
  9. 20 yards or so and crack on. Yipee ! . Thanks fellas , that's saved me time , and money . πŸ‘
  10. Thanks very much for all the answers , fellas . Now I'm wondering as 2024 was a disrupted year for me , and I only went fishing 20 times should I put fresh line on my reels , or am I just being lazy ? . I guess , at the end of the day it's your line , and hook that land the fish , so I shouldn't try to save time ? . πŸ˜ƒ
  11. You mean they don't stock sharks in your lake , Blue ? 😁 . So use my through action 1 1/2 t/c rod , and 10 lb Hydrotuff to absorb the power of all these monster carp with a passion for prawns that I'm gong to catch , Blue ? . πŸ˜ƒ
  12. That's great thanks , Blue . So I can see me margin fishing a Prawn on my 9' 11/2 t/c fibreglass rod with 15lb line ? , and a Sz.6 hook ? . πŸ˜ƒ
  13. Impressive . I didn't know we had an intellectual amongst us , Elmo 😁 .
  14. Thought provoking post , Blue . So do you buy ready peeled Prawns , or whole Prawns , and how would I hook them please ? .
  15. Thanks Elmo , and Nick , sound advice there , many thanks . πŸ˜ƒ
  16. Hello Everyone . It's time to put new lines on my reels so I thought I would carry on using Hydrotuff , but I have heard RigMarole are bringing out some new products , and I wondered if that included bringing back their SLS Specimen Tough ? . Also what about the line for my controller , and free line floater fishing ? ; I'm currently using Korda Kruiser Control . Any thoughts please ? .
  17. Do you mean us Pensioners , young man ? 😁
  18. πŸ₯Ά
  19. That reminds me of " Jaws " , and yes I'm weird 😁 .
  20. For goodness sake don't get trapped in your bivvy , and get blown into the lake . 😬
  21. Well in that case I'm guessing that the pegs on your lake won't have overhanging branches so bad that you would need a 6ft. rod , unless there are very tight , underhand cast margin spots ? . Personally I don't have enough spare cash to buy a 6ft. rod that I would seldom , if at all , find a need for . πŸ˜ƒ
  22. You mad fool 😱 .
  23. Do you have to stick religiously to your swim on your lake , Jules ? , or can you go " off piste " , crawling through the undergrowth where the monsters may lie ? .
  24. Or Ikea if your other half has dragged you there 😁.
  25. Yes , I would like to sit in the Solar and Nash chairs to compare them as they both look so similar , apart from the bar at the front which is lower on the Nash .
