I have a tiger query please? I bought 10kg of prepared tigers from monster particles a little while ago, and they were delayed on the delivery due to lockdown, they are a bit vinegary when I defrost them I want to be able to refresh them and make them gooey and sweet ? If I just added some boiling water to them with some sugar would this freshen them up a bit and get them slimy ?

Cheers guys I still dont think the work is done yet, must keep going and hope there is more to come, I think i need to slow the nuisance species down this week, it's time to feed the carp more I'm thinking oil the pellets to fill them up quicker , some Tigers and more 18mm boilies, and maybe save the pigeon food for when I need there to be food on the spot for longer, I didn't use mozzie mesh or any repellant this Saturday I thought it seemed mozzie quiet when I got there 💭🤔 today I am starting to find I am quite itchy and seemed to have been bitten quite a bit, little foccacias they are always there 😕 I did enjoy the minimalist approach though of no groundsheet or mozzie front, I found packing up was loads quicker as I didn't have everything out it just stayed in my Rucksack until needed, going to try and thin out the Rucksack next 😬

I would assume the stones aren't good for carp, and I would just eat them tbh 😁 I also think they may just turn to mush in water so probably wouldn't stay on the hook long, but possibly worth a try 👍

Finally got permission for a quick overnighter tonight it's been a tough couple of days negotiations but will be doing a quick in and out with bait up, and home for breakfast going to use the brolly bareback with no groundsheet, no need for food and stuff minimal for me anyway, got the rods set up having stripped some line off bosh bosh bosh bait up and crack a beer and hope the carp are playing ball tonight, steak and chips for dinner first then hit the road, in theory it's all gravy let's hope there are no spanners in the works 😁

Plumber did sort it btw, and for free well happy, he replaced the connector bit and it's sorted, he couldn't turn the main mains water off though so had to do a risky one with towels, so still need the water board to do there thang at some point but at least we are not leaking anymore 😁

Well it's another week of baiting done, am hoping to do what I called a luxury baiting session at the weekend a very quick overnighter, but not sure how that's sitting at present it's a bit like indigestion for now 😁 There is definately a change in the swim this week, no pike strikes noticed and the spots seem to become active as soon as I've baited them still loads of rudd etc but they seem more relaxed if that makes sense, then some slightly bigger fish seem to move in, probably tench and bream as the swirls get bigger, still no definate carp sightings but hopefully they are also visiting to see what the kerfuffle is, just got to keep plodding on and hope it's happening while I am away, 😁 Tight lines all

Were all the different types of rigs the same length?

How big does a burco type boilers need to be to be usable 😁 They seem to be 10l, 20l,30ltrs ish I tend to not need more than 5kg at a time ever really? So what the right size for me? Cheers

Its just not so domestically friendly 😁 If I keep on I will need a burco I think tbh anyway, I'm quite enjoying prepping my own particles at the moment, they always seem fresher and better than shop bought or frozen

I've just been using the cool box method soaking for at least 24hrs in boiling water seems to work fine, I find if I leave them for 48h they are gloopier 24hrs and they are a bit but sugar is meant to accelerate this process?

Do you ever add sugar to your pigeon Conditioner? I just wondered as I read it helps it ferment and gloop up if that's a word 😁

Agreed, it isn't based on total guesswork I was using 4 inch rigs in bags and getting more bites now 7-8 or longer and less bites, naturally it needs to be a firm spot so it presents but I think with all the rudd and nuisance fish it will be getting moved all over the shop, so it makes sense to make them shorter

I think the rig length might be something to play with though, I was definately getting quicker bites with a shorter rig, Hypothetically here, 😁. Just suppose you get a group of fish or a fish feeding on your spot baits move about don't they, so by having a hookbait closer to the lead it's not moving as far off the baited spot without them picking up the lead, say you use a 4inch hooklink it only moves around 4 inches from the lead you have a bigger area of movement the longer the hooklink gets so the further away from your ideal zone the hookbait goes, I'm not saying a longer hooklink won't catch but I think a shorter one will be on the money more often maybe, and I also think they will prick themselves on the lead quicker maybe???

I think i may have sussed the difference between my catching and not catching, it isn't the use of a PVA bag, the type of hookbait, it's the length of the rig, when I stopped using bags my rigs naturally got longer,probably to the same length as everyone else, hmmm I remember saying hookbait doesn't really matter its the feeding situation, So in theory a pva bag full of 18mm baits with an 18mm bottom bait on a shorter rig is the ideal situation if its a clean dinner table, hard to distinguish which one is the hookbait, and they may trough the lot get nicked by the shorter rig resulting in more takes boom

I found i got on OK with braid before, the problems came when I didn't wet it first, and my last braid was like tow rope so it didn't like being reeled in without a winch 🙄 that was the main reason for trying mono line as I had some in stock that I knew would be OK for casting etc. just think its less hassle with braid and as I am forgetting Important things like toastie makers and water carriers etc I think simple is best and straight through is more elmo proof 😂 you can just use it, change a lead to a spod or rake or whatever without having to think about it, perfect👌
