  1. Most reels are just matt black at the moment though, would be nice to have something different πŸ˜‚
  2. Lol thanks but no fox for me πŸ˜‚ I think they are more or less the same tbh just the colours and probably sealed bearings like you say πŸ‘ I also really like these sea reels 😳
  3. I've started thinking about new reels and since my accidental aerlex purchase, I've started looking to the darkside a bit 😳I've started to quite like the look of these, but is it pervy to like the blue spool Sea version? Diawa seems to be in short supply at the moment and as a consequence no deals seem to be available on some of the ones I like, I spose I want a nice reel that will last, look pretty for no more than Β£100 - 150 a reel πŸ‘
  4. The bait I use doesn't have any flavour added , just the smell of the additives, I really like the smell of it, and the carp don't seem to mind it either πŸ‘
  5. Stick em in ebay someone will pay you for them old school flavours 😁
  6. I am a fan of Cork 😳
  7. Everyone could recommend a bait they are confident in, but that doesn't mean it will be right for you, most will catch if you put it in the right place but confidence only comes from results and for me, I am most confident when I have been prebaiting for a while, so that also brings cost into the equation, but one thing I will advise, talk to the bait companies you are interested in about what you want, or you are trying to achieve, if they are good they will be helpful and steer you towards the right bait for your situation,
  8. Mark Holmes was good, always something to think about with him, I do like jules though, I like his consistency, I like his multi rig too lol, I haven't got to his interview yet, but he doesn't half catch em πŸ‘
  9. I know, that was what I was trying to say 😁
  10. I personally wouldn't have all my eggs in one basket maybe use one smelly bait, one bright one and another one bright and smelly , you never know what will work on the day and bringing the changes could get you an extra bite, I've never found "the one" hookbait that works all the time, I have a few I am confident will work sometimes though πŸ‘
  11. I'm slowly getting through them again now on Jules episode at the moment, I did enjoy the mark Holmes one πŸ‘
  12. When you put it like that lol 😁 I guess it would be effective as long as they are competing and hungry 😳 I think this might be a good lesson though for some reason I always imagine fish doing exactly that and going down to suck in my rig, east as that 😁 might have to rethink that a bit πŸ‘
  13. I just think literally they would suck it in, struggle to blow it out due to the stiffness of the rig, tilt up and the lead would sink the hook home, I just think the lead comes into play as soon as the hook is in the fishes mouth and it gets pricked, it's not getting the time a boom section allows it before the lead does its job, Why are PVA bags so effective? , if the carp is quick enough there may be a big pile of pellets and a nice neat hookbait bundle, like you see in tank test videos, but usually the small fish will ruin that in seconds, personally I think the short hooklink has a lot to do with it,
  14. A couple of people do things with elastic I've seen, Steve reynard has his hermit rig https://www.carpology.net/article/features/steve-renyard-bucking-the-trend/ There's the Nora rig https://gardnertackle.co.uk/2020/04/carp-fishing-bloomin-nora-part-2-adam-whittington/ I've never tried either but it may help whet your whistle πŸ‘
  15. I could also see a lot of disadvantages it would be a waste of time in a lot situations πŸ˜‚ but in the right situation they would struggle to deal with it, you would need to drop the lead though I think, but it would just be that bit different to what they are used too, maybe even use a bag to slow it down in the water, I don't like bags with pop ups in as a rule but a blatent chod might be something else πŸ˜‚
  16. Has anyone ever tried a chod rig on a lead clip or inline? could be great direct to the lead πŸ€”
  17. I got my J precision hooks last week, been having a little play tonight, they are pretty blooming sharp tbh, he seems to take a lot less off them than some but gives them a nice long point, much better than I do myself I think πŸ‘ Top one is a size 6 curved long shank, bottom is a size 5 curved, I could use both happily cos they don't actually seem much different 😁
  18. That's true, trouble is the price goes up faster than the bank balance πŸ˜‚
  19. Makes sense I suppose, I think the proper emblem spod reels look nicer though and has a folding handle, I find non folding handles slightly annoying when it comes to packing up, so what you save in retrieve you lose in pack Down πŸ˜‚ probably more options for customising too πŸ‘ Why are diawa reels soo expensive second hand BTW, you used to be able to get the black emblems for about Β£70 new a couple of years ago, I think second hand they are always over 300 for a set, I'd love a set of old school emblems, I remember this old boy had a set of gold ones when fishing at Emberton Park in the olden days I thought he was the biz, he was using partiblend too πŸ˜‚
  20. I think it was a crosscast spod in 45 actually my mistake, 😳 So are you thinking of using spod reels as normal reels? I thought you meant for spodding, would be labour saving though πŸ‘ In theory you could add 45mm spools to the 35mm reels if they are the same size, but im not sure that would be cost effective as you would probably have to change other bits or you may lose the massive 124cm per turn retrieve πŸ€”
  21. A lot of people seem to rate the 45scw, from what I can gather, I spent a good long while looking into them lol, never bought them yet though 😁 the 35 just means it is a 35mm spool length rather than a 45mm I think, the 45mm spod reel has a 118cm per turn retrieve, 124cm per turn, is pretty big though not noticed anything that big before the latest emblem spod is 122cm per turn? Is that what yours is? If so every 15 turns is an extra shatterproof ruler πŸ“πŸ˜³
  22. Just checked for the week, doesn't hit the dizzy heights required does it, and there was me thinking the Bermuda shorts might be coming out soon 😭 Gives me a bit of time to spot find though πŸ‘ The wind changes about Thursday, all them Wigan kebab eaters fault 😁
  23. I am just going on what he said but I did take it as a sign, could do with no rain for a while it was still very flooded, I would've needed waders to get right round it, I guess where we had such a sustained cold spell before it seems to have made this warmer spell very noticable, lletd just hope it doesn't get too cold again
  24. I spoke to someone who has been keeping an eye on the lake I fish yesterday, he said it seems to be going up a degree a week at the moment, he said up to 10 degrees in places, I said thanks and vowed to start trickling some bait in πŸ˜‚
  25. A chod rig will help you be able to fish over, rougher bottoms like weed, chod debris effectively, its designed as a chuck anywhere rig, so as long as you have your top bead set up correctly in theory it should present anywhere Personally in my opinion the longer the hooklink on a helicopter set up the more you take away the leads effectiveness to aid with hooking , I would rather use an inline or lead clip if possible, and I would work towards making holes in the weed with prebaiting then you can fish simple lead clip set ups or Pva bags on your cleaned spots and you will start to catch them, I became a fan of dropping the lead in weed last year after a run of hook pulls cost me 7 fish, dropping the lead makes it easier to control what the fish will do in weed as you have direct contact, and stops the lead bouncing about out in front of the fishes mouth whilst hooked, one of those fish still hurts today I know it was a biggun, I wish I had started dropping the lead sooner😒 I would use a chod if I didn't know what the bottom was like, but I would rather know what I was fishing over and use the correct rig for it,
