Reels; metal or plastic line clips

Do you think the latest aerlex would be as good? -
I had already been fishing on the "the spot" it's one I know quite well, but it is changing a bit due to the weeds and pads dying so was thinking of exploring it around it more , i have been fishing 2 rods on it and another elsewhere but just thought a roving chod may be a better use of the 3rd rod than overcrowding it But I was thinking more if I go to other swims, I would still have a lead about spots are always handy to find but as there is so much old weed and pads to explore, I just quite fancy being able to lob something at showing fish or somewhere that is a little different or workable,or in dying weed or pads, I do think my time on that spot as sole user is done as it seems to have become quite popular recently π’ but one door closes another opens as they say, and I am quite keen to try a few more doors now tbh I've had a few close shaves with them but actually not lost any tackle in them yet, I have been fishing the edges for a while and have accidently cast quite far into them with a rig a few times π I kind of missed the chod explosion, but the more I've watched the more it seems to be something I could use but I never really have either, πlockquote widgetblockquote widget

As the weed and lilies die back it would appear there are lots of places previously not reachable, a lot of spots become choddy and less pleasing, I feel this could be a good value way to always be presented when trying to find those tricky elusive carp that seem to go missing at this time of year and having reeled in some bloodworm this morning from the edge of the pads When chod chucking, what are the things to avoid at this time of year? Is it bad/risky to launch one right into dying lilies or weed ? Just thinking out loud cheers

Something like that π it just means I get home quicker as I am not faffing with breakfast before I pack up, quick overnighters need fast food π
-
I'm not sure tbh, didn't do me any good though, for whatever reason nothing has materialised yet though, looks a bit more likely this morning, lots of rudd activity but other than a liner this morning nothing doing, Its a lesson went in with a pre conceived plan and so far it hasn't worked, it does only take one bite but I might have to consider other options going forward, they've got to be somewhere Still a Consolation Mcdonalds is on the cards, better start the old pack up once I've drunk my tea π

Its gone very windy and rainy and has also decided to aim straight at me β I almost don't fancy getting a bite for an hour or so while it passes π³

Well the old life seems to be going pretty well today, sold my old car this morning, my kids wanted to stay with nanny for a bit so I pegged it home got changed and loaded up, wanged it straight down the lake, just managed to bucket "The swim" in time before some others turned up, I was told someone had a couple out of here last weekend, but karma is on my side today they've had a free feed in the week, the regular haunts are all chocca so I'm not in a bad little spot, rods are out, just got the bivvy up before it rained, now all we need is Mr carp to pay a visit beeeeeeeeeep

Thanks will have a look, Neither have I just thought they deserved it, but maybe just some oil and grease will do π

I'm getting excited got another quick overnighter planned for tomorrow, did a sneaky pre bait yesterday, I've done all I can now we just need the carp to play ball, nice bit of low pressure coming it's looking good Tight lines all

My old emcast evos are in need of some TLC or an upgrade, nothing majorly wrong that a service wouldn't help, but is it worth it or should I just get some new ones, I quite like my evos tbh, I certainly don't feel they are holding me back but one does sound a little coffee grinder ish, if I get them serviced I could also get nice wooden handles as a treat π Or should I just upgrade them for some second hand emblems or tournaments? Can anyone recommend someone to service them ?

Even the second hand market is mad, things seem to sell for nearly the new price of the item, I remember back in the olden days pre pandemic, many moons ago when you could get some cracking deals on tackle, ππππ’π’ -

The buzz bars have another great feature you didnt mention, they can also be used as goalpost or as normal buzz bar set up, depending on your mood π I think they also do some decent products tbh, i still like my rods after a year I quite like the look of there unhooking mats too, I think bivvies do seem to have got expensive lately, cyprinus seem to have stopped making loads now and there are no bargain ones anymore, my bunker was deal of the decade in hindsight , the ones they still sell look pretty decent though, -
Ive got loads of pots of trial hookbaits lol, and will probably never use any of them π They always seem like a good idea at the time π

https://www.haiths.com/haiths-baits/under-the-radar-secrets/ Tbis came up in a search for hookbait hardeners, has a bit about glycerin in it,

I use to have some mini Microns in the olden days loved em tbh, only thing was a wired sounder box and I didn't want to spend out on the attx receiver and dongles lol, so I sold them for more than I bought them for π If they are as good as those i would like them I think, all I want is sensitivity settings these days and a reliable receiver oh and to be loud enough to wake me up π -

Just look for the far bank marker and bingo π -
Just having a look at some new items and thought we could start some discussions Fox mini Micron x seems to be the new alarm on the block does anyone think they will be good or pap? I am actually a bit interested in these quite like the look of them and if they are as reliable as the old mini microns they could be OK

I don't see much advantage to not using sticks to be honest, for me they make things easier, you can then record the distances you cast and its easier next time, if I know the swim it's usually 3 ot 4 casts and the rods are fishing with as little disturbance as possible, I use the same rod for leading about and spombing also so I have already got that where I want it from my initial marking up I'm really trying to work on my accuracy these days, I want to bait and fish as accurately as I can and with as little disturbance, Even if I am fishing at shortish range I still use them -
Not played much with the chod but when I thought it might be a good method for something I had a little look again , I read a thing by Nigel sharp and he was saying about it being a bad idea to hit the clip when using a chod set up as this will make the line tight and the rig not move freely, that had never even occurred to me so I thought I would share it π I also hadn't thought about a light lead being better that's maybe why I didn't really get on so well with that set up ππ Ive started using 4oz on a lead clip recently, or 3oz inlines btw

It was one of the first "new things" I tried when I restarted makes such a difference, well worth persevering with π
