The lake I am on started Saturday and were having a proper good go I think, some of the lakes on the complex haven't yet though, not sure that helps tbh may be worth dropping them an email to be sure

Get on the okuma 8k, I guarantee you won't regret it, I know I keep saying it but they are brilliant
-
Sounds like heaven, don't rush to complete it take your time, I've been feeling a bit cramped this year so far always seems busy and I wouldn't have got in the swim I did this weekend if I hadn't finished work early, I never felt that way there before, I've also been looking for something quieter recently, they seem to come with a lot bigger challenges and unknown factors though, I'm hoping the weed grows soon so it puts people off 🤞

That looks a lovely place Kev 👍
-
Sorry yes monster, might have a go with carbon baits been having a look lately
-
I bought 10kg of gone off tigers from them, they didn't arrive on time and got stuck with couriers but they didn't offer to replace them so never again for me
-
Will be later once I've got it off the camera, no more action, McDonald's breakfast and home, still it was a much needed night on the bank and breathe 👍
-
It's funny earlier I was just thinking I'll be disappointed if I don't catch one tonight then the rod ripped off straight away 🙏 Been trying ever since but it appears broken now 😂
-
Fizzing over left rod and another show god fishing is exciting sometimes 😍
-
Omg glad I got here when i did rammed now but I managed to get a decent swim probably my first choice tbh, (old faithful) what made it even better, within minutes of pulting out some bait I started seeing patches of fizzing in the area,3 shows and a few small rolls and stuff I had to wait to get my middle rod out til I thought they had moved off, then a bit later I did, good job because within half hour it had ripped off stripping line like it really wanted to get away , and I didn't want that as the pads are back up to the surface now, but I held on gave as little as I could and eventually after taking out both my other rods I netted it, 18lb mirror nice to be in a swim with a chance again, I'd sorted all the rods out again for about 10 mins I went to a fancy wafter combi rig with an 18mm wafter struck into a lifting bobbin but catching a 6oz rudd and it blunting the hook meant I went back to a Ronnie, so it's a ronnie on all 3 one match the hatch one tangee peach and one KLS, KLS 1 other pop ups 0 I'm being greedy I want another one now come on the carps 🙏 Good luck ouch and anyone else out 🤞

Good luck, I am a bag of nervous energy this morning, haven't been sleeping that well this week as its earlies and add fishing to the mix and I didn't sleep well again I just want to get work done so I can get there I just hope I can choose a swim I want to be in this time 🙄
-
Right I've got the car loaded finish work at 2 straight to the lake for an overnighter, think I may have overdone the bait tipped a 5kg bag of bio dumbells into a bucket added a few scoops of pellet, my main baiting tools are a hand of god bait spoon on a net handle, throwing stick, catapult or airbomb, left the toy boat at home again, just got to hope they don't decide to spawn today now, and hope it isn't too busy but at some point they will be getting a feed 😂 It's been too long since I've caught one so come on the carps let me join in on a catch report for once 🙏🙏🙏

That's what I do it makes life so much easier no messing about,

They aren't the lightest, but I don't find it a problem to be honest they are so smooth though and reliable though, they never seem to tangle line lay is beautiful, they are a pleasure to use tbh Edit the only other slight neg is the spools take a lot of line, I just got some cheap line off amazon to use as backing, problem solved 1 spool of hydrotuff now fills 3 reels 👍
-
Save yourself a bit of money and go for okuma 8k, they are the nuts, I will confidently say they are better than any other reel around that price bracket, certainly better than a shimano aerlex as I also own one of those, This is a cracking deal I paid £80 each for them and would again if I needed too I love them, smooth slow oscillation, long spool, just solid reels that come with a 5yr warranty https://parkfieldanglingcentre.com/collections/big-pit/products/okuma-8k?variant=31504247488623

Gemini do some fluoro solid bag drop off leaders, they also do a tubing kit with stems and stuff, but I've decided that's too faffy, if I am doing solid bags I'm using leaders from now, i use the Gardner camflex unleaded leader I think it sinks well enough, https://www.geminicarptackle.com/shop/100-fluorocarbon-leaders/double-ring-swivel/

I love a little afternoon nap quite often I get shouted at, punched, kicked, jumped on, scared witless If I dare to try it whilst the family are around though, so annoying I just want a nap lol they reckon I snore or something and the misses has set this precident where its OK to wake me up if I dare to try it 😳 Sometimes after I walk the dogs and they are out though,we settle down and we all have a little nap, bliss 💤

Trakker, fox or carp porter
elmoputney replied to elmoputney's topic in Carp Fishing Tackle and Equipment
I did a photo of it chucked in the boot its pretty flat plus the wheel and handles, that is the main bag on top and the water carrier is housed by one of the front panniers, It is quite long but flat it is a great barrow though the galaxy is smaller but I quite like it seems stable and easy to push and load That's it fully laden 2 buckets, bedchair, food bag, clothes bag, rods, bivvy and all my tackle and bits fit in the underbelly (which like the fox have side access) -
That's a bite, nice bag 😎
-
Tonight I have actually been to a gig Absolutely brilliant it was too
-
I had one of them I broke it 😳
-
That's a mad amount of weight for a bivvy, wouldn't want to barrow that too far I always think they look good if you fancy having a kick about though the front would make a good set of goalposts

You still have the same bankside references with a deeper though, to me it is basically like a marker float only one that tells you a little more info Sadly I doubt your map would still be accurate, the pads and weed has changed a lot of previously great features, I tend to use my deeper as and when I need to find a spot,a rarely even look at the maps I've made, tbh I have used a bare marker lead and a deeper on Virginia both have a place because I don't think either tell you the complete story
