  1. Exactly that, I've been down the Overthinking road it's not great tbh, A rig that presents itself and resets is all you need for me pop ups are now a ronnie rig, wafters would probably be a combi rig or something but I haven't used many wafters this year, I've got into the gemini tidy booms lately, I just bought a few different ones to mess about with but they do make a nice neat boom section and that's all I worry about now, that it resets, the rest is down to location and bait, Framey gemini do a tidy boom for combi rigs, I haven't really had a play yet but they would be an easy way faff free way to make them just using loops to loop for the soft section πŸ‘
  2. The klor, was designed so it flipped easy without shrink tubing on pick up, I understand your theory about closing it off and for a long time I agreed with you, but since using the krank I have to say I've had some pretty good hook holds and I don't tend to worry so much, πŸ‘
  3. I thought they were OK tbh no major probs I did slightly open one out with a fish but I think that may have been because of all the weed and stuff, and having to bully it a little bit, in normal situations would be good I think, I am mainly using krank x's for Ronnie's at the minute
  4. I think 2 would be the one πŸ˜‚ One for early night and one for when the first one starts cooling down πŸ‘
  5. If you don't want to spend loads probably an okuma
  6. Lovely to read all your favourites guys well done πŸ‘ I think I've got 3 or 4 main favourites lol, This was the one and only fish I ever put in carp talk early 00's I think πŸ™„, I had been really struggling to catch anything from this lake, but then I think probably on the advice of someone on here, I prebaited a swim for 2 weeks almost daily tbh after night shifts and all sorts, this one was the first of 5, my first 20lber at 26lb, I had another scraper 20 but I had learnt prebaiting works, I got 5kg of free pellets for that too πŸ˜‚ Then from more recent times it was these 2 first trip back on Virginia after losing my dad, I had already had the confidence boosting 10 fish hit on the other lake pretty soon before and I felt in the zone, I had done a little baiting but then in evening I had this one New PB 27lb3oz, that alone would have been enough I was buzzing but in the morning I recast a bag into the hole in the weed and it ripped off And this one was the result proper buzzing and I remember the lucky moorhen, not sure it was coincidence or not but it always seems to appear at significant times was here for this one too, my favourite from this year so far πŸ˜‰
  7. I wasn't that impressed by the S7, although many swear by it lol, bait is a bit of a personal thing though really, use what you are confident using πŸ‘
  8. I honestly don't think you will notice any difference, with other makes for Β£100 or less, I've got an aerlex spod reel and tbh my 8ks are a much better reel, also much better quality than the baitrunner I own,
  9. It depends how much you wish to spend, but having owned my okuma 8ks for a while now I am happy to recommend okuma reels they are so smooth, I think the 8k might be a touch big for 10ft rods but have a look at the okuma Inc6000 for the money okuma are brilliant This shop even agrees with me and does a deal on them both πŸ‘ https://parkfieldanglingcentre.com/collections/special-offers/products/sonik-xtractor-okuma-inception-6000-mega-deal?variant=29410304229487 @B Bhas the Inc6000 and the 8ks he is also an okuma fan
  10. Looks nice, Do you have pike in there I've had load of issues with false runs and things lately, especially with pop ups, one time I even hooked one that had speared a rudd through its eye on my hook, my guess is the rudd were feeding on my spot and it attacked them, luckily it fell off, the poor rudd was dead though 😒
  11. The krank x seemed to work out OK for me last time tbh, I think I will stick with those until they let me down or something but thanks will keep them in mind πŸ‘
  12. Thanks don't worry, it has a minima guide now lol, just a bit more bent 😁 I have checked there aren't any sharp bits on it so I may use it as is for a bit, I did spot a few rods that seem to come with similar guides as standard tbh, might just get savingπŸ€” Will take a look thanks
  13. Perfect thanks, they are almost the value of the rod though maybe I just need a new set of rods with those on πŸ˜‚
  14. I've just broken the insert on one my rods again, I also did the same on my sonik rod, I'm going off the rings with plastic inserts, I break them too easily don't even know how or when it happened tbh, can you get eyes without the inserts (ie more Elmo resistant) πŸ˜‰
  15. Maybe I had my weetabix that day or something 😁 did seem weak though will try again
  16. Thanks had 2 so far, biggest 19lb would like one of the bigger ones now not being greedy but pleeeeeeese 😁
  17. I'm using the fluro still, trying the gemini tidy booms today they are nice, Another crimpable boom material that doesn't cost the earth is Gardner stiff link 25lb works with a 0.6mm crimp
  18. I'm not sure if they do but I seem to recall someone on here maybe @bluelabelhaving an issue with one retractable rod not fitting another bag , so it may be best to just go for the Sonik ones that will fit properly
  19. There are a lot of times when I think I want some smaller rods, I remember the vaders feeling a bit odd for a while after 12ft ones, I think I just like a 12ft rod they just feel right I think , I still think I want some new ones though πŸ€”πŸ˜‚
  20. Has anyone used this? I just tried crimping it and it seemed to break fairly easily, I also tied a couple of figure of 8 loops and pulled them still broke quite easily, I usually pull my booms a little harder and they don't break 😱 Is it rubbish or am I just being ham-fisted 😱
  21. I had some 10ft vader x before they weren't bad rods for the money really, @Highyis the Sonik specialist on here, his dog has a sponsorship deal with them I've broken one of the 50mm butt rings on my latest set of rods, so sooner or later i am going to need some more 😳😱
  22. I'm going tomorrow morning, went today and did some work at the lake and snuck some bait in, they were eating it by the time I left, I am excited now 😱
  23. Free spirit, do some tree creeper rods that might be nice, Sophie the carp catching kid uses them and catches some nice fish with them,
