Drones are the new bait boat lol. I find them annoying when they are buzzing around like gnats, but I can see how they can be an advantage
-
I wouldn't say I've caught more since using a bait boat, but there are certainly times when it pays to use one over casting and spodding, it certainly a bit more stealthy and probably more accurate,it's also great if you know your spots already or its dark, simply wrap your rod up, rig in, bait in,ahoy there shipmates and there she blows, and and it's also brilliant for prebaiting you can deposit a load of bait without having to make loads of noise, but they also come with drawbacks they can malfunction, you can get your leader caught in the props, it doesn't open properly etc etc, and can also be a faff when things go wrong But I shan't be selling mine anytime soon now I am getting to grips with it.

4 on the leader and 5 on the Mainline 4 turn on the grinners for the hybrid lead clips for the new leaders I've just made 😲 Kids are at brownies for a bit I'm enjoying my downtime with some prep work 😂
-
Back to back grinner, seems to be a winner, none have slipped yet anyway. Framey did also suggest this one so thanks 👍

NGT 17 ish quid on ebay fox braid sucks Gardner kinetic spod braid was also good
-
It might be worth trimming a bit off and also checking your line clip isn't damaging the line
-
Not good if its fraying, Ive been a little disappointed with durakord that frays easily, not good if its going to fray just make sure you are checking it regularly. The Ngt stuff seems quite good I think it's teflon coated so it's just like a tory MP, you can throw all kinds of muck at it but nothing sticks 😲
-
What spod braid are you using? Allbright is quite easy once you've done a couple, I'm quite enjoying learning new knots tbh even if I don't use them all its good to practice
-
I must've watched a video that called an allbright a Uni knot or something cos I've been tying an allbright knot not a uni knot. I'm gonna give it one last try today with a back to back grinner I watched a fox vid last night and Harry Charrington said the b2b grinner works with mono to mono I'm getting in a right old knot fluster lol, allbright will work well for you Highy with a shock leader
-
Is the allbright knot exactly the same as a Uni knot? it looks it to me 😲
-
I saw some twig captures on fb earlier, I so wanted to say it was cheating 😂
-
Yes i did I also used the the thinner outline fluoro leader 20lb bs that knotted well with the mahin knot and looked neat, it just doesn't seem to bed down well
-
Thanks nick I think I've come to the conclusion it's the leader material not my knots lol, I think thick mono to mono isn't going to work with these two, I've tried a uni knot with the kinetic shock leader that isn't going anywhere and looks perfect , I've tried a mahin knot from braid to the snag leader looks good, I just think the leader isn't the right tool for the task. Unless I switched to braided Mainline but that's banned sadly. Back to the drawing board
-
Yes needs a bit of practice still 😂 I tend to practice a few each day until I am happy with it, I ws doing 10 turns down and 5 back up I noticed since some people do 7 down and 5 back so will try that next time, I think it's bulbous though because of the leader material.
-
Brilliant thanks it would appear the mahin leader knot is exactly what I needed, that doesn't seem like it will budge at all, I really want to use this leader but obvs it needs to be safe. It's one I will keep practising as its a bit fiddly lol It's the avid camo snag leader
-
Nick what knot would you use on a mono snag leader to Mainline I've been using the uni knot (10 turn) and it seems strong when I pull it tight but I did have one go on me last week Would blobbing the leader be the difference?
-
I've only used the Gardner kinetic one that is decent lasts ages but I am sure most of the top ones would be OK I think
-
I tried to make one yesterday I know why now 😂 I was trying it with durakord though and that is one poop Leader.

A good head of originals from the Middleton era up to 40lb, 75 VS fish and quite a few hand picked DOR 70 Strain have been added since Rob took over, my rough estimate would be about 200 but that's just a complete guess, but hopefully we can catch one or two, and have a good chance of it being a 20+

They had a load of em on the till at angling direct. £9.99 for two, I wonder if anyone is actually buying them?
-
We've been to smyths toy superstore /angling direct this morning 2 rainbow high dolls and an advanta sleeping bag ccx4 season, my cyprinus one has seen better days and it's heavy I already have a cover that I use mainly in the warmer months but thought its going to soon be time to want a bag also , looks alright for £67 peachskin and it has a shiny inner rather than fleece that I always seem to get stuck in 4 season and it only weighs 3kg my cyprinus weighed an actual tonne.

Yeah I guess so, but it will be easier having her onside than not mate. Hopefully she will have learnt the lesson. Sounds like you have a great wife mate that's there when the going gets tough.
-
Mate well done for being the responsible one and organising everything, hope it becomes less stressful and more manageable soon but you've been a hero mate. Hard as it may be try not to be too hard on your family, if your sister is trying to help get her involved it will help you in the long run, we all make mistakes, let her make it up if she is trying. I would be fuming about the holiday too though. Hope he gets better soon and it all gets sorted. Keep venting on here if you need to mate, you got to let it out somewhere.
