I don't think it does that much tbh you still have to get the fish to take the bait all it helps with is finding points of Interest to feed them on,
-
I've come to terms with modern technology recently, especially as most of the great anglers of our time seem to adopt them in one form or another, they are just tools, for me I just want to catch fish, if a sonar helps me find some good spots in a very weedy water quicker and with less disturbance to work on then so be it, I know I will still work hard at my angling, will still be prebaiting regularly and still learning as I go, they don't catch the fish for you, but they give you a quicker insight into the topography of the lake bed, you still need to locate the fish on the day, create a feeding situation and believe it or not still use some watercraft or you still won't catch them, That's where I am at today anyway, I've even started to turn my head towards the advantage of bait boats in some situations and I used to hate them π

I haven't got one or any bait boat for that matter, but people do seem to give it good reviews
-
You wouldn't need to walk the lake just let the drone do all the work π
-
I have seen people using boats far more effectively than what I've been doing lately, it does start to make you think, I had a little play with my new deeper the other day, mapped out 3 swims far quicker than I previously would I'm coming round to modern technology, I don't think it's a total solution and you still need a lead to check the bottom but it will save casting a lead so much to find the potential spot in the first place,

Gonna play devil's advocate here π 200 for a baiting pole or an actor bait boat Β£200 both deliver your bait and rig to a required spot, bait boat is probably a better tool as it can go further and dare I say it with about as little disturbance, and probably easier to use too, however a bait boat is cheating and a pole is fair game, funny old world we live in isn't it π

That would be a lot less faffing about I think
-
I do think they are more useful when you have a longer reach, you can get a corus one and a saber one 18m for Β£150 nowadays, not sure if they are any good though, but to me it would be better value to get an 18m than a 12m for Β£90 and end up buying extra sections at Β£30 a pop

I've spend a little while thinking about baiting spoons, and for me a 12m one isnt that useful as its only 3 and a bit wraps long, it's fine if all your spots are close in but it wouldn't benefit me that much at 12m long really, and I could mainly live without one at those distances

Would latex gloves help? I occasionally use them if the spox mix is particularly nasty π I've never used bloodworm in there raw state though only some bloodworm pellets so can't help you, but maybe the easiest thing to do is not use them, I wouldn't know if they are worth the risk of an allergic reaction.? Maggots might be a safer alternative though if they don't affect you on the same way

I wish I could be 21 again next time I go fishing π

Good luck, I didn't have any tbh, nothing doing today, had a good look about didn't see anything, in hindsight rushing into a night without a plan or clue where they might be isn't the best idea as winter approaches, I've been told I should hang the rods up for this year anyway, I'm starting to agree, I didn't fish well at all πhad a nice curry and bailicks though so it was alright π Need to sort all my kit out and have a good clean up anyway, and then I can start planning trying to catch more in 2021 than I did this year π€

It's curry time, welcome to the bombay bivvy club, this one is an aldi sauce I'm using, have to say it smells amazing, comes with a spice mix and a sauce, perfect for making a decent curry bankside without the faff,

I always do lol especially as I have an 8 hour shift at work before it's even fishing time, I have my end of year review at work at 1, its gonna be so tough to concentrate when all I will be thinking is what swim am I gonna get? where will those chunky [censored]s be? etc etc, I am already too excited for fishing its only getting worse today π

Guess who just opened up a tub of scent from hell in the kitchen after quickly knocking up a zig rig whilst my significant other is on the school run π Air freshener, door open, never a good idea πΈπ

I'm toying with the idea of some maggots this week, 2 zigs and 2 on the bottom with some spombed red ones over the top, It's going to have to be a bit of a live by the sword job as I'm probably only gonna have an hour of daylight to get something sorted though from when I get there, not ideal but it is what it is, and I'll be fishing π

Woop woop I got permission from the good lady for an after work fish Thursday night, just got to get confirmation of holiday from work and I'll be there ziggin it up in the cold, can't wait, On the bait works podcast this month they were on about baileys coffee, I think I can go one better baileys and horlicks #itsthebailicks haven't tried it yet but what's not too love πππ€

Well Big Bass, I'm glad you reminded me about this, I've failed on 2 countsπ 30lb+ fish, My biggest was 28lb 4oz so a new PB and one I had felt I earnt a bit and had a mega session to remember, so not to unhappy, I managed 13 fish from the main lake and had a 10 fish in 24 hour blinder on the runs water, lost a few this year, relaxed, enjoyed it, didn't **** about with bait and rigs too much, unless it was required, a run of hook pulls rung the changes a bit, but fished on my own terms, sort of kept a good fishing life balance, took the kids a bit, they enjoyed catching a rudd a chuck, The other thing I failed at was not losing any timber π in fact I reckon I've gained a couple of branches π’ But I think that's probably been down to this strange year, lots of emotional eating and just trying to keep all the balls in the air, obviously losing my dad this year wasn't in the plans, and if I am honest I still don't really feel like I've had the time to completely come to terms with it, I sort of think one day when this year is done and we get back to normal I will process it, but I try and carry on pretending everything is fine, I think for me fishing has been a success this year, and been the glue that's held me together and I've probably had my best year to date, personally it's been a roller-coaster, so a yin yang thing but I'm definitely a lot stronger than I thought I was, which is nice and I pretty much did what I set out to do which was also nice π
