  1. Hi mate Personally I would use a softish braid in a solid bag with an inline lead rather than a leadclip, If you mean a mesh bag just hooked onto the hook I would probably still use a semi stiff coated braid personally A lot will also depend what type of surface you are fishing over, at this time of year I wouldn't use a stiff material unless I was confident it was a clean bottom, as you may find it lands on a twig or something and just spends the night inches off the bottom not presented that well Would also help to know what sort of rig you are using, hope this helps
  2. Ouch that's harsh 3 weeks of nights on the trot, I don't do nights anymore since march just earlies or lates, I dont miss nights tbh,I think I feel better for it but hate earlies more cos its every other week now 😭
  3. Its been a lot colder since Friday, definately colder this morning, good for the Brussels though but not for me being on time for work had to scrape thr car this morning 😁
  4. Defiant mps heads with cygnet pivot arms
  5. Brown, pink and yellow, don't work at the moment 😂
  6. Shimano aerlex spod reel Now I've used it 4 or 5 times I think I can give it a thumbs up, really smooth, works like a trooper and excellent value for money in my opinion, I have a feeling it will take some punishment too, teamed up with the Gardner spod braid seems a good combo, it's got one of those funny stay open bail arms which takes a bit of getting used too but once you know it won't close you can give it some clog This is my 3rd dedicated spod reel now after 2 soniks, and it is miles better, and only 20 quid dearer, really pleased with mine, if It still works like it does this time next year it will do for me Ps having had my diawa emcasts for an age I was a bit anti shimano but this reel has opened my eyes quite a bit Tight lines
  7. No luck this time, don't think I was far off but they have too much safety in this lake, and if they don't want to play ball and come to you then you won't catch them , I'm thinking of a new plan though it may not be so safe soon going exploring off the beaten track when I get time 😂
  8. I normally do too tbh, keeps it warmer longer 👍 Nice and easy curry though, good old pataks Tesco peshwari naan was horrible though ended up feeding that to the wildlife, I also regretted the 2 beers with my old man bladder, I was up every hour for a while 🧓 Really enjoyed the horlicks and Jersey cow milk tea though, 2 things every self respecting carp angler should have in there armoury 👍😂 Back home now though no carps, good few shows, not far away but they didn't quite want to come to visit my spots in the allocated slots I had provided them with 🙄
  9. No fishing updates but the dinner is nearly ready 👍
  10. Beer for the chef 🍻 I have forgotten a plate so gonna have have it straight from the pan 😂
  11. Camera is still poorly but you get the idea 😂 Might need it thanks 👍
  12. Well I have to say it's pretty blooming nippy today only me and one other on, at the moment, I was having a mooch and saw one out the back, and I've seen another show since out the other side, I'm in my old faithful swim 2 rods on the old spots and I've chucked a chod out onto what was a once very productive spot but now hasnt been fishable since my return, its choddy but might be worth a go, few spombs on each, we're fishing my new Bobbins look nice just need them to hit the rod now 😂
  13. Well tomorrow night I am doing lamb rogan josh with toasted coconut jasmine rice and peshwari naan I've got some adnams ghostship and a couple of sachets of horlicks instant malty goodness, Just add carp and I'll be a happy bunny 🐰🐇 And proper channel island whole milk for a special creamy brew 😍
  14. I feel like I've been slack at my bankside dining lately, I'm popping to tesco on the way home, I'm gonna do a proper meal tomorrow night, not quite sure what yet, but I'll let you know
  15. That's the spirit 😂
  16. Thanks me too 👍 I should have a bit of time to look, I did spot one roll a couple of days ago whilst walking round another clue spotted
  17. Fishing or buying sonik goodies 😂 I quite like the colour of the orange one 😏
  18. Thanks finchey My bits arrived from Johnson Ross bought an extra sonik sks alarm for my 4th rod set up, Greys 7ft stalker rod, bait runner, single sticks and a rather special old bobbin, I think I'm going to enjoy this set up, will be nice to have a roving rod, might not be ideal for winter but I think it might prove to be a lot of fun 😉
  19. Spod mix prepped and ready, just got to try and sort my kit out cos I've booked tomorrow off work and I am going fishing woop woop, Pigeon mix and boilies well doused in molasses and liver hydro , will add some cream of evaporated tomorrow, saucy 😂 It stinks and its sticky, just how I like it 😭
  20. I've got into quite a bad habit lately, since I can drive up to the swims, I just leave my alarms on the buzzer bars with banksticks still attached and chuck em in the boot when I'm done, saves me valuable seconds in pack down time though 😁
  21. I don't think i would even try to cast it that far, just being a little silly 🙄 I fancied having a 4th rod I could chuck under a tree or in the margins or something,I'm allowed to use 4 on there so thought I may as well use my allowance while it's cold, it's a good fun rod , and won't take up much space, just thought it could give me another angle
  22. I've just set up my snide 4th rod, Shimano 6000rb and greys 2lbtc 6ft stalker rod, do you think I'll get 100 yards with that? 🤔
  23. Just thought they might be worth a look, not if they are heavy though, I really liked the tx2's tbh, I wouldn't mind a set of those next, they were slim and stylish still think the wychwoods have got more distance in them though should I need it, apparently I can cast those 191 yards 😁
  24. You could have a look at free spirit ctx rods, 13ft 3.5lbtc £431 for 3 from Johnson Ross, not used them myself but I know l free spirit are highly regarded rods
  25. This blooming thread nearly made me buy some more pop ups last night Luckily I resisted, I went out to the garage, still have tonnes it's fine, 😁 Got some orange and pink ones to take again now 😂 So that gives me orange, pink, white, brown, beige, yellow, red, should have it covered
