  1. I would never choose to set up anywhere based on conditions. I might start by looking at he windward end though.

It took a while mate but yes. The problem with staffy pups, like you say, is that they just want to play, and any dog friendly visitors can see that and tend to play back, winding them up. They then leave you with this completely manic little dog that you're try in vain to get to relax!! Great fun though buddy.

She's an absolute stunner mate. Do you still take her fishing? My little staffy was a nightmare on the bank, bless him. Great fun but stalking opportunities became scaring opportunities.
  4. For out-and-out attraction you're on the right lines buddy. The only thing that might be more effective (bearing in mind you're planning on fishing these over a baited area so you already have a general level of attraction) is to ditch the man-made/processed baits altogether and go with a bag of maggots/worms. Of course you can only take advantage of this if nuisance species allow it!
  5. As long as the lead can pass over the knot it's fine mate.
  6. I agree. But Elmo was asking about un-coated.
  7. Tubing or a safe leader set up. I've never heard of fluoro leaders causing a problem. They are twice the diameter of mono.
  8. This is generally frowned upon mate, it can be very dangerous. Fine braids can cut into the flanks and/or lift scales during the fight.
  9. You'll have to ditch the tail rubber if you use a leader buddy. The tail rubber won't go over the leader knot if you crack off so you could leave the kipper trailing a lead.
  10. Me too. I used to use the small/midi ones but when I spomb I tend to spomb a lot. I got so bored if spodding for hours that I always use the big one now.
  11. As long as you're not using a leader that would be fine imo Elmo.
  12. I cannot see any reason an inline set up would cause more damage than any other type of set up. Regards dropping the lead, horse for course innit. If you need to drop it due to snags, weed, whatever, then yes - drop it. If you don't need to, then don't! No point in littering the lake bed for a laugh.
  13. This! The small spomb is tiny. No problems for 3 lb TC carp rods.
  14. Totally agree. The show is not a fishing programme. It is 2 guys big enough to make a comedy about how they've come to terms with their health problems. It just features a bit of fishing. A really unusual concept and one you have to admire them for.
  15. I though it was about 50 acres? I'm sure it's bigger than 35 no?
  16. That. @Old school, I agree with you that they're not necessary, but I don't think they present any safety issue if used correctly.
  17. That dodgy quick change clip aint part of the Korda cog kit, makes me wonder if they've bodged it all together out of random bits. Maybe the swivel barrel that fits the lead is different too, which might explain why it's not released the lead. All what? If used correctly there's nowt wrong with tubing and a lead clip imo, cog or otherwise.
  18. The rubber is clearly jammed on too tight but on paper this set-up is safe no? I don't like the look of those cog jobbies, tangle city imo.
  19. It's now run by Alex Bransby mate, you can find him on FB. Stock is largely unknown as is the impact the otter have had. But there used to be some bigguns in there.
  20. I see. That's a bit pants innit.
  21. That lake looks tiny Elmo 🤭
  22. Can you not just buy a 1 rod license and offset them (so you buy the 2 rod/1 rod at 6 month intervals)?
  23. Decent camera mate. No flip screen so you'll have to practise getting your framing/set-up right (do this at home and not on the bank with a fish in the net lol), but the camera/lens is capable of decent results. You'll probs want to upgrade the lens to a prime lens at some point.
