  1. A winter sleeping bag was on my list after my Mrs asked , so I gave her a trio to choose from in preferential order . The next evening I got told to “do one” whatever that means 🤣. So I have to raise the money by other means . I sold enough stuff the other week to cover it … then the Boiler and Vets bills swallowed it . I won’t be venturing out without one.
  2. Piking I assume mate ? I say that as I didn’t think it contained any Carp ? I reckon maybe some nice Roach though.
  3. Anyone been brave enough to get out in the ice and snow ?
  4. Welcome Shane . How’s your fishing ? Tell us a bit about it 👍🏻
  5. I think with Essential it was a way of plugging the winterised version of their new KS10 bait . I wouldn’t have thought they had a lot of ‘old stock’ lying about to shift but I take your point generally mate . In my experience people tend to stick with what they know bait wise but you never really know what’s going on behind the scenes with the price and availability of ingredients etc . Call me an old glory hunter 🤣 but I’ll always use an ancient well established and therefore trusted bait company . When I first started with the Carp I had to make a decision somewhere and , I dunno why now thinking about it , but I plumped for CC Moore . Somewhere along the line I changed to Essential baits and I really can’t remember why but there IS a sort of pattern forming lol
  6. Nice one Ouchy , congrats 👏🏻
  7. As for my plans for the new year …. More of the same really , determined to get to the larger residents on my little syndicate lake no matter how long it takes . I just wish I could make more use of it timewise really . plus I need a decent sleeping bag and keep getting outbid on them 😬
  8. And that my friend is the crux of the matter . I have people at work that could earn themselves a half decent wage as there is always overtime available but they won’t put the hours in as they’ll lose their Universal Credit . It wouldn’t be so bad if they knew they’d earnt (for example) £100 extra and knew they’d lose £100 off their UC . But that’s not that simple . Any slight increase in earnings and EVERYTHING STOPS ! ….and they get what’s left of their UC about 5 weeks later so for the rest of that pay period the family goes short . Might be different mate if that pretty good wage was 40 hours a week but it’s the part time nobody wants and frankly I don’t blame them when there are thousands of illegals filling their pockets and living comfortably off the state having fled war torn France …
  9. So you’ll actually be living the dream at last Phil . Congrats and good luck with everything fella , I know how much you’ve wanted it over the years 👍🏻
  10. Well although the weather has cooled considerably I’d tend to stick to my usual tactics until the first frost but that’s just me . Stock levels have to be taken into consideration too . Are they still hungry ? Is the venue still busy ? I’ve not been out for a few weeks myself but I would have thought the banks have started to get a bit quieter? Therefore how much bait has been going in ? Forecast suggests that this weekend will be as cold as it has been so far this autumn, lows of 4-5c overnight…. Next week nearer 1-2c . Anyway , I’m jealous , good luck 🤞🏻
  11. Shame the forum seems to have died a death . It always did quieten down when the weather cooled which is to be expected but go back to 2010-2014/5 this community was rocking.
  12. Actually whilst I’m on the thread , Essential have been doing their boilies , over the weekend, at £5.95 a kilo . I can’t understand why this company doesn’t appear more popular tbh than it undoubtedly is . proven bait over many years . genuinely puzzled
  13. You’ll be spodding your life away mate
  14. Sounds like quite a project for the right company…
  15. That’s a big Mutha …
  16. It’s nothing special, we’ll it is to me , but it’s an old Ron Thompson Avon rod with Feeder attachments etc . I use it ( obviously) for feeder fishing , surface work and float fishing for whatever comes along . Dunno how much it cost at the time , it wasn’t expensive, but it’s a proper Jack of all trades and I love it . Used it recently with my well old Mitchell 320 reel and landed everything from small silvers through to upper double Carp . A great tool and goes to show that you don’t need to spend fortunes on all these specialist rods to enjoy a days fishing.
  17. I’m in the Essential Baits users Facebook group mate and I noticed that James McQueen (the admin) is also sponsored by Cygnet . Now I appreciate he’s sponsored by them so isn’t going to slag it off even if it is carp but after a bit of digging I found his comments on the line you’re asking about @crusian . So here it is , hope it gives you some assistance 😉 https://www.total-fishing-tackle.com/blog/cygnet-terminal-tackle-range-a-total-fishing-tackle-review
  18. Lovely mate 👍🏻
  19. Well done Kev … was it an honest coincidence or did they know you’d been pre-baiting those zones ?
  20. Looks like you’ll have to review it for US mate 😊
  21. Ffs mate , and I thought the water level on my water was low . personally I’ll be happy if this recent rain has filled it up a bit . Plenty more to come as well I think .
  22. He’s a tremendous all round Angler working for a tremendous all round Angling tackle company . If he’s chosen to leave for another company I’d be surprised. He’s not as young as he used to be . He probably just wants to retire and enjoy his fishing . Good luck to him .
  23. Yeah I’m torn between getting a snugpak silk liner for my existing sleeping bag (would that even work ???) or buying a special forces/Antarctic Snugpak bag . Although my old JRC bag still does the job it always did in conjunction with a cover/shroud , it’s bloodee bulky whereas a Snugpak would be minimal. just dunno whether I can justify the best part of £200 on something I may use 6 times max per winter ….
