  1. is there anyone else who can give me some info on genesis as i am going there in october for a week. i know there are only 5 swims so does anyone know which 1 or 2 produces better than others?
  2. this is one book i will read one day, think he is an out and out good angler/carper and seems a decent bloke as well
  3. i have never in the last Ten years as a member and two as a bailiff experienced any form of fights or bullying on any CAPS waters, maybe i have just been lucky but on a day to day basis the members i speak to generally are polite and civil. its a shame you and your friends have had such bad experiences on CAPS waters as you are right we do have some very special waters but some of the quieter less crowded waters are still very special too! I hope that you give it another chance again one day. As for the Stour their are definatly some lovely strecthes with some stunning fish but on a hot summers evening it's hard to top a walk down the stour @ Nayland and finish the evening off in the Pub sitting by the river !! P M sent
  4. To be honest Gaz, there would be only one reason I would re-join CAPS these days and that would to fish certain stretches of the Stour There are some nice fish to be had, without the crowds that come with fishing their lakes !! i am with you on that one james lol. some great stretches to be had on the stour
  5. tbh i was in caps for 2 years and jacked it with 7 other mates because of the agro and attitude from other members. joined it twice first time 9 years ago and left for the same reason rejoined couple years ago thinking it would have changed and boy was i wrong. great waters if you can handle the grief that comes with a club with over 2500 members. rubbish bullying and fights
  6. i have taken my son years back, think it is £5 for 1 rod and 1 rod maximum, no boilies no sweetcorn no cat food no this no that no nothing. mate it is shocking tbh. it is about 1/4 acre each (2 lakes) no surface baits.
  7. if you look along the top of the page it says fishing holidays, have a look through there, some of the owners are members on here as well
  8. mono mate, fluro sinks
  9. IF there is a correct use then maybe, but in all honesty there is no correct use, only dangerous. http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=40970&highlight=leadcore http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=39794&highlight=leadcore http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=44156&highlight=leadcore http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=40711&highlight=leadcore i wont lock this because it will look like i am being petty trying to win an agument the fact is leadcore is dangerous whichever way it is used and therefore not worth using
  10. advising people not to use it is education is it not. the stuff is awfull even when used "correctly" in mine and a lot of other people opinions and evidence, you do not need to use it so why risk it?
  11. dont use the awfull stuff in the first place tbh. I am on a phone so it is a nightmare to search but if you search you will find loads of info and loads of reasons not to use it
  12. First of all, how is that considered a swear word yet not censored by the auto-censor? Secondly, how is it more dangerous? I'm guessing you're thinking along the lines of the fact it can, although I've never experienced it personally, potentially kink? the word IS considered swearing but because it is also a word used in a normal conversation the auto censor dont pick it up, it is the context of use. There are hundreds of reasons AND FACTS about leadcore and the dangers of it as most on here well know and have read many times, if you want to take the risk then that is your choice (unfortuanately the fish dont get a choice in what death rigs are used to catch them) but me and others are trying to point people in the right direction to save SOME fish from serious injury or death and that is ALL we are trying to do tbh.
  13. The same could be said for barbed hooks, particles, boilies, sacks then. The only reasons people can give for banning it is via the use of hindsight and a few selective pictures published in magazines. It's no more dangerous, if set up correctly, than any other leader. Even mono straight through can tackle if a fish is left trailing it. I'm guessing you'd advocate the use of them dreadful "Safe-zone" leaders marketed by Korda? You know, the ones with multiple tungsten sections for the bead to get caught on? Hardly ideal is it. Secondly, what do you mean it offers no advantages at all? It does actually help the last 3-6ft of your line sit pretty (better than anything else, providing you prestretch it) flush to the bottom, although it does "tightrope" if angled on debris (the same as EVERYTHING else). It's durable, so the advantages are there if bars, mussels etc are present. I believe (I say believe as I don't know what it looks like through a carp's eyes) it is quite inconspicuous. It provides the best balance as to why leaders are used in the first place. It just seems people are jumping on the bandwagon recently, regarding the dangers of leadcore, even though it has been used for years. Why are people only just starting to make a fuss about it now? Was it not a problem before? Also, whilst I'm rambling. Why are tackle manufacturers still selling the same size leadclips even though they tell you, at every concievable opportunity, not to push the tail rubber all the way on, as it may cause the lead not to eject? Why not make the clip smaller then to eliminate idiots doing so? edited for swearing barbed hooks! i think more places ban barbless now tbh, and sorry but it is FAR more dangerous than any other leader even if tied correctly imho. the stuff is awfull and shouyld be banned imho.
  14. the lake was emptied of fish mate, a few stayed but not many in there. lovely lake but a looooonnnnngggg walk.

    360 rig

mate the 360 can and does cause awfull damage to the smaller carp, imho i think it should be banned like the bent hook. have a look through these links i have put up. people will say they re safe and as said dave lane uses then BUT that dont mean they are safe just cause a named angler uses it. read through and make your own mind up. http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=30745&highlight=360 http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=31347&highlight=360

  17. found out at the commitee meeting that brian wont be selling tickets, think he has got confused because he will be handing out the forms but not doing tickets.
  18. i think it was £5 a day, as for tactics i aint sure as i was into float fishing and pike fishing then. have had small carp to about 9lb there but have been told they go mid 20s plus but thats what i have been told so dont know for sure.
  19. i know they used to charg twice the price on the bank to what they did if you got a ticket from the garage. this was to stop people taking a chance but i really dont know how they go about it now. good luck
  20. hi mate, bridge garage used to sell day tickets and i would asume they still do but i dont know for sure. if you work in manningtree angling is your name brian? i cant find out for certain but have always thought the platforms were council owned and free to fish from, i have fished there a lot i the past and never been asked for a ticket but thats the best i can do at the mo mate.
  21. there are 4 platforms there mate and i think they are free to fish from, other side of the road and over the sty oposite the platforms is owned by lawford angling club. i gonna get some fishing from there soon myself, plenty of pike to be had and have been told some good carp as well.
  22. cant help with the venus but welcome and have fun mate
