    Rigs

I started out many years ago buying ready made rigs, but i always tie my own these days, that way if i lose a good fish to a rig, then its my fault
  2. in some situations lead core would be okay, but i suggest reading this sticky post http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=53599 also use the search function to find lots of posts on chod rigs
  3. A lot of anglers on here dont have a lot of time for leadcore, so you might not get much response to this as leadcore can and often is a potential death rig. I have deleted your duplicate post, hope you dont mind
  4. I use it on my small, course fishing reels for float fishing and ledgering, good stuff
  5. Passion for angling for me as well just superb, time less
  6. you will find the fuji seats are bonded to the blank, measure first but you might be able to hacksaw the blank both sides of the seat, cut blank but section to length then slip the fuji with section of blank over new but section
  7. A good start to a review Nick, and Gardner products usually deliver, i look forward to your verdict on the bank
  8. ouch i was going to say hope it was barbless but off to A&E suggests barbed, think i would have just cut it out with a stanley knife, at least you know your hooks are sharp, probably not a korda hook
  9. How about putting a really small split shot on, then molding a bit of putty over the shot
  10. Thanks, i will look out for it, i enjoyed in pursuit
  11. what is the knot to be used for?
  12. "2-3inches of braid" think the op said no braid
  13. try fishing with an inline lead and a really long rig, say about 18 inches the lead will pull into the silt but hook bait will sit on top if you use a nugget of foam on the hook
  14. is there really any need to use the chod? just asking
  15. looks pretty good, agree about the bivvy
  16. try doing a search on here for chod rigs, there is hundreds of threads
  17. if you scroll through this thread you will see the rig marole leader i use, i put shrink tube at the points i want the beads as leader is very thin http://www.carp.com/carp-forum/viewtopic.php?t=44395&highlight=

    Chod rig

Do you need to use a chod rig? what type of lake bed will you be fishing over? If you find your self using leadcore, google terry hearns video on you tube or on esp website! if you go for the much safer option of using a synthetic leader you can use a piece of shrink tube where the bead sits, then slide bead onto shrink tube so that it will still pull free, but best advice would be to rethink your rig and go with a SAFE rig
  19. Think you will find esp hooks pretty strong, maybe the kamasin ones are a bit thinner
  20. please stay away from leadcore, the very fact that a huge amount of lake owners have banned it from their waters tells a tale in itself try tungsten tubing or synthetic leaders
  21. most people that use the chod tend to go for as short a hook length as poss
  22. I dont see that you do not like his style of writing, he is far from a "whinge" yes a little eccentric but entertaining and not boring
  23. i have read it about 3 times, very good like all his books
  24. i would say when fishing over silt a long hooklink can be a good idea
  25. same as ^^^^^^^the most carp are caught on the most basic rig
