  1. you dont need "the latest rig" just stick to a simple one with a decent bait and look for where the fish are
  2. north yorkshire is a big place, only one that comes to mind is raker lakes or emmotland near driffield but these more east yorks
  3. bishops bowl near southam, think it has a website
  4. think you have heard wrong about brasenose lakes, just a question of getting the carp to feed over your baits st johns admittedly has bigger fish but lots more angling pressure, every one that goes to linear first time wants to be on st johns, hoping for a forty have a proper look at the other lakes and make an imformed decision my friend, good luck
  5. Have a look at sapphire lakes at cromwell, lovely water a bit on the hard side but if you get it right worth going
  6. how about orchid at oxford, you wont find a more secure and lovely venue, but can be a hard water though
  7. if your in pompey just as well go to linear lakes
  8. why not try linear brasenose, oxford is only about 50-60 miles from you, at a guess
  9. think your out of luck, yorkshire is a god forsaken county for carp runs waters
  10. A lot of people have heard of problems with the A1 pits at night could try sapphire lakes at cromwell, right near cromwell lake but it has become a hard water, though if you get a run its likely to be 20lb or more
  11. bet your not far from richmond park, and probably only an hour from yately
  12. the chod/silt rig can be used for bottom baits, even the great man himself (TH) recons it can be used for bottom or pop up bait, however, best not to use lead core on it due to fish safety/welfare, try a synthetic leader in stead
  13. well done mr pot as i said in text congrats on the pb, and a common as well, good angling mate, both me an martin thought you have what it takes to make a good carper might see you at oaklands on the weekend your going
  14. on most canals, the bank opposite the tow path will have bushes and tree`s to fish to, and will be more likely to have the fish lurking in these features, also the "winding holes" which are the wide sections where the boats can turn can be worth a look.......which canal are you looking at
  15. ferrymeadows has a reputation for producing carp, just keep at it my friend
  16. im afraid to say but huddersfield is pants for carp fishing, we got next to nothing, there is cellers clough but carp to mid 20`s only, if you travel to newark area you have cromwell lake but rammed full of canadian pond weed!
  17. you might want to be a little more specific as to what help you require
  18. never fished it mate but interested to see what you think of it, keep me posted
  19. have a look on the search facility, lots about linear on there
  20. crackin pics, well done again lads i really ought to get a trip over one day!
  21. cellers clough in marsden, sapphire lakes cromwell and and cromwell lakes in the same area, A1 pits at newark, to be going on with
  22. dont know if this helps, but if you could get a small group together (4) then look at carpquarry, they doing a special for june/july looks a great place with very good facilitys , if you like it get in touch with gordan, he has a web banner on here in fishing holidays
  23. on sapphire most people suggest not putting in a lot of bait, though not so sure now about that, fake popped up corn over sweetcorn seems to work well and last fish i see caught came out on mainline cell bait in early hours, watch out for the silt, it can be deep and real smelly in some places, if i think of any thing else i will let you know
  24. a good review rich, and a fair verdict on this lake, i have visited this lake when i have been at sapphire lakes and yes its 18 acres of canadian pond weed but what puts me of is the £12.50 for my girlfriend to share my bivvy, better of going to sapphire for less money and better rules
  25. hi all, any one know if there are any carp in the river idle at nottts, near the bawtry area
