dayvid got a reaction from phil dalts in The Colder Days
I wear the same as in the summer ,Joggers ,T shirt and hoodie , but wear a thicker coat and over trousers if it gets to cold .
I also have a Nash Artic suite , but very rarely wear it ,but do take it just in case .
I suppose working outside all my life has somewhat toughened me up to the elements.

Now this is a take on the twin flowerer pots upside down , (look up on Youtube) they work extremely well , we made one and the heat was excellent just to bulky to carry around.
So this seems a reasonable copy although well over priced , but aint it all
If you believe the spiel ,you wont die using it. just Burn your hands if you touch it

dayvid reacted to salokcinnodrog in FOX RX +
Never had a problem with my Delkims, other than my own stupidity, like leaving flat batteries in, or breaking the battery connection wire, even then the repair was cheap and quickly done by Delkim. Purchased I think in 2000, still working, still on my buzzer bars, or banksticks for pike fishing.
Oh yes, my nice carp alarms get battered and bruised, covered in mud while pike fishing as well.
Please don't make me laugh about Fox alarms, I have worked in tackle shops since 1995, and the most returned faulty alarms were Fox, number of Delkims returned were minimal, in fact I honestly can't think of any.
Do your Atts have vibration sensing?
No? Not so reliable then are they
The number of fish I have caught on semi-fixed leads when I have not had a proper run from the vibration sensing, when line movement is just noticeable, and you can put the sensitivity down enough so that ignores waves, but still picks up fish indication. With almost all other alarms you have to have a proper run, or dropback.
What is the big saying?
Oh yes, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.
Because Delkims aren't broken they have no need to try to fix or bring out a new alarm. Saying that, even then, they managed to bring out the more budget EV range, which is still better than most other alarms on the market.
Maybe because Fox is broken they need to bring out a new range every few years, or maybe its because they want to con you out of more money. Money, which to be honest, you have no need to spend if you have a proper decent set of alarms in the first place.

Basically any tube will have a plane which it ''likes to'' bend on
Building on this, the spine as it's called, will improve a rods performance no end, mainly casting accuracy thing but also the feel is better and far less twist
I don't accept non spine built rods any more
Most of the big manufacturters will rubbish the importance of it for a simple reason - they can't be bothered to do it
Daiwa's upper range of rods is built in the UK, on the spine. They are the only big manufacturer which bothers. You're looking at Whiskers and above. I have a pair of Whiskers as my spare rods and they are very good

dayvid got a reaction from finchey in Bivvy Waterproofer
If you look at my photo you will see a pump to pressurise type sprayer , and 5L of Fabsil , this is by far the best way to apply it , i doubt 2 cans will be adequate to be honest .
Go Outdoors were selling 5L for around £33 or 1L £13 ,hence i bought 5L

Fabsil or Fabsil Gold , gold is more expensive
I use ordinary Fabsil good for a couple of seasons .

I would still go for the JRC , with the same reasoning as Chillfactor, plus material is likely to be a bit more robust anyway .

I have found switching over to tigers , slows the bream catch rate down if they get to much , assuming you can use them.

dayvid reacted to salokcinnodrog in Shrink tubing
I must confess I buy mine direct from Maplins, or Solar Tackle if I need short lengths.
I don't worry that the Maplins stuff is black with white writing on it, I'm sure that the carp can't read the small print.

dayvid got a reaction from chillfactor in What's the best bait boat
I have a Microcat it's great low to the water so good in choppy water (make sure you have battery covers on ), it's fast but its big and heavy , I wouldn't personally buy one with props
Procat I thinks is a bit small , Technicat seems about right
Their is another boat around the£300 mark made in the U.K. and easily accessible inside but then ame escapes me ,the write ups I have read all seem positive.
Don't listen to the Never use one brigade they have no idea what some people actually use them for.

dayvid reacted to welder in bedchairs
Bedchairs? Don't be messing about, the Nash Indulgence is the way to go. My son had the JRC Stealth and thought it to be ok, at best. Then he sampled my aging Indulgence Mk4 and went straight to Fosters of Birmingham and bought the latest version. Loves it to bits.
It's only money and you only get one spinal column..........
