  1. Know what? I'm pretty sure that's where I bought the ones I had before. Thanks, I'll pop over next weekend. Ian.
  2. My son and I were reminiscing about some of our past angling exploits when he reminded me how well I used to do on the method. I used to make up a "secret" mix which contained sweetcorn and use corn on a short hair, buried into the ball of mix. "Why did you stop doing that, Dad" seemed a fair question although I had no answer. A fashion thing, maybe? Anyway, I'm going to give method feeders another go. Are there any particularly good ones I should look for? Ian.
  3. Quite right! Ian.
  4. Gift horse is the expression that comes to mind. Whatever it takes........... Ian.
  5. I'm surprised, Phil. I've always believed pike to be "sight" feeders rather than "scent". Hey, what do I know, the only pike I've ever caught have been by accident! Ian.
  6. Years ago I had my Greys Prodigies converted to full cork handles. It wasn't cheap! Ian
  7. Was a time when I always had at least one tin of Bacon Grill in my bait bag. I'm going back to that time cos I'd almost forgotten just how good a bait it is. Haven't used it for ages, that's going to change! Ian.
  8. I have three of the 4000 Regal BRi's. Cracking reels and barely any larger than the 2500's. I find them good on rods short or long, great for trotting a float downstream or fishing the close margin with shorter rods. Ian.
  9. The River Tame, North Warwickshire, is the lowest I can remember it being. Ian.
  10. I was saddened to see that fish hauled out without the use of a landing net. On the strength of that I wouldn't consider buying the contraption. Ian.
  11. ESP Synchro for me and well pleased with it. It knots nicely and sinks well. Ian.
  12. Looks like a young rainbow trout. Nice. Ian.
  13. I've read everything available and assume that some stuff has been deleted. Always a shame to lose any member, let alone one with obvious enthusiasm. Alan and I are fine, mate. Mad busy with the wrought ironwork and disappointed that our trip to Lac du Menhir in July isn't going to happen Stay safe. Ian.
  14. I've just had a Google look at the venue. It's a series of reservoirs which are pretty much exposed to the elements and look rather daunting to me. I'd suggest that you find a smaller, more intimate, water to fish whilst you're establishing a learning curve. Good luck. Ian.
  15. Only just encountered this thread and know absolutely nothing about it. I must pay more attention! Ian.
  16. Another almost forgotten trick is to fill the air-space beneath your bedchair to prevent a cold aura from the ground. Anything not immediately required will do. Bivvy bag, luggage, holdall etc. It works, trust me. Ian.
  17. My nephew runs a fleet of 5 of these for his building/roofing business. He describes them as reliable workhorses as long as serviced regularly. He, my son and myself went to Windmill Lakes, France in one of them last summer. No problems whatsoever. I was impressed how fuel efficient it was. Ian.
  18. I like a happy ending. Ian.
  19. Gardner Micro Grubs. The business, don't look elsewhere. Ian.
  20. Great picture, even better sense of humour. Ian.
  21. I enjoyed that. Thanks GP. Ian.
  22. I can't believe that any significant weight would be saved but I'm liking the notion of a much firmer bedchair. I feel a few experiments coming on. First will be to insert several cable ties in amongst the existing elastic. Ian.
  23. Tandem bait boat? Ian.
  24. Carl, welcome back! Ian.
  25. I've had to cancel a week at Lac du Menhir with my son and nephew, supposed to on there 19th July. Fortunately the owner will honour or booking as a transfer to next year, same deposit. Ian.
