  1. Yes please, Leon. Put me and my son Alan on the list. Not too fussed where or when. We're both self-employed so a few weeks notice of date would be useful. Ian.
  2. I've messaged Andy, asked him to look in on here with any advice he can offer. I've done Horseshoe several times and it's a bit special! I've mentioned all this to my son Alan and he's well up for it. oh, and your proposed dates would be fine with both of us. Ian.
  3. That was Andy Wilkinson aka Andy52. He and I are friends on Facebook. Would you like me to drop him a message to see if he's still a bailiff at Horseshoe? Ian.
  4. Yes please. I've done loads of them over the years and can honestly say I've enjoyed every one. I'll have a word with Stevo and see if he's up for it. Ian.
  5. I'll show Ali's clip to my son. He always uses dips and glugs of some sort. He'll definitely be up for trying something new. I'll probably have a go at it myself tbh Ian.
  6. Hi rayfish, welcome aboard. What's the fishing like in the north west? Plenty of waters to choose from or few and far between? Ian.
  7. Clifton Lakes complex now has a Facebook presence. Oh, and a contact number. 07845 746691. Ian.
  8. Best post so far. Ian.
  9. I've had good results using a popped up worm on the hair. I carry a syringe in my box, for injecting them with air. Ian.
  10. It will be time well invested, I'm sure. Ian.
  11. Thanks for that. I'll check them out. Ian.
  12. Hi hillen. Do you mind telling me which company you're renting the van from, please? I'm struggling to find one that allows foreign use. A Transit Custom or similar would be ideal. I'm in the Midlands, by the way. Ian.
  13. Couldn't agree more, Phil. It's verging on cruelty to land a fish and use an unhooking mat or cradle in these current temperatures. Do all the necessary while still in the water and as quickly as possible. Ian.
  14. Got to agree. Increasing numbers of fisheries only allow "proper" bivvies. I struggle to understand why but their place, their rules I guess. Ian.
  15. Tuckab, you might want to consider travelling a little north to Newark. Cromwell Lake is a cracking fishery and holds some big fish. Ian.
  16. That's pretty much my approach when doing a week in France. I always reel in at breakfast time (mine, not the carp) and spend some time checking rigs, sharpening hooks and catch up on sleep if necessary. Then, suitably rested and refreshed, bait swims up, cast/boat out and sit down to feed the ducklings. I like ducklings. Ian.
  17. Oh good. That's alright then, just so long as you took it seriously. Ian.
  18. Some things just don't change. Great. A degree in daftness.........🤣 Ian.
  19. Don't just think about it......do it! Welcome home, Jonesy. Bit of a reunion vibe going on in the last few days. Firstly Tim (Newmarket) now yourself returning to the fold. Oh, do you still hang toilet rolls the "wrong" way round to perplex people? Ian.
  20. Hi Andy, Welcome. Take a look at the Nash Daddy Longlegs chairs. I'm like you, struggle to get up out of a low chair. These start at a good height and can be raised a lot more. Had mine years and wouldn't want anything else. Ian.
  21. I understand that rechargeable batteries can develop a memory. After several "short" charges all they'll accept is just that. It's good to run them completely flat then soak charge. Apparently. Ian.
  22. Be interesting to know what was "said". Ian.
  23. We've got them all around Birmingham, everywhere within the Inner Ring Road. £8-00 a day for my Mitsubishi Shogun, £8-00 a day for my Transit Jumbo. So £16-00 a day before I've even begun work. They're calling it a Clean Air Zone. Ian.
  24. My son is obsessed with carp rods. Over the years he's spent a great deal of money on several sets of three rods. His go-to, all-time favourites? Three Chub Outkasts that cost him £145, several years ago. It isn't all about the money. Ian.
