  1. Thanks guys. I said they planned it all along lol πŸ˜†. TBF I think I've been more stressed waiting for the grandchildren to be born than I was waiting for my own to be born. Think I need to go fishing once they're both born coz god I'm stressed It's crazy the price of a good mechanic. I used to watch my dad when I was younger so I do most the work myself.
  2. Been a long 24hrs. Both my daughter-in-laws in hospital giving birth. 1 granddaughter not long born. Praying they're not both born on same day. They live 200 miles apart but still managed to go into labour on same day
  3. I always dread M.O.T day. Even though I've usually gone over the car myself n know it's gonna pass I always sit there wondering if it's gonna fail
  4. Not having much luck dude. Hopefully it don't last that long. Get well soon. 🀞🏽 It's not too bad. Wish you all the best with your appointment.
  5. The slip d does me well on a long shank but get alot if problems if there's silvers or bream. These would eliminate it being tangled round the hook. Did try making it with fluro and landed a few fish but never stuck with it. I always throw out with a mesh bag and depending on the rig I leave a little tail after the knot and wrap it around the hair and back to the hook to make sure the bait stays presented correctly
  6. Can think of a few but they'd all be censored on here lol. Probz would've had to have been called "little winkie" 🀣(was cold in early march 🀦🏽) Didn't fancy leaving my maggot πŸͺ± dangling in the water especially with pike being present so I assumed it better to leave certain things covered especially my toes πŸ˜…
  7. Natural flavour and it's done me well tbf and this winter a pineapple popup on a chod on one of my other rods. I have every flavour popup n water they do aswell with matching bait spray and about 25 kilo in boilies and about 15 kilo in pellets so enough to last a few months lol
  8. Thanks for the tip @yonny These are what I got to try
  9. I think naming them help keep track of how many times that fish gets caught. I've named a fish and you'd probably think it's a stupid name lol. Called it sox. Story goes: Had new boots on that day and it took me into a snag so I stripped down, didn't want to sit in wet clothes for rest of day so off came the trousers n new boots n i went in to free it from the snag in my socks and pants hence the name. Thought it would be better than calling it Jeff lol
  10. I've been using the Nash scope gtl 8000 gold edition and so far they're nice to use. Supposed to pair nicely with the Nash 9ft and 10ft rods
  11. I use 18lb syncro xt and 20lb Nash bullet in brown but brown seemed to be out of stock everywhere I looked so purchased Hydrotuff and not really liking it but only done one session. Maybe I was fishing over a rock but had alot of line damage on the last foot and had to cut it off twice, it also seemed to get a bit kinked at the rod tip if I pulled abit of line through on the drag (bad batch maybe as I've read loads of good reviews on here about itπŸ€”) For surface h15lb Gardner hd floater line in low Vis green n it's brill. Thought I'd try the clear this time and don't like how white it looks so I'll be off back to the low Vis green.
  12. I fish all year round but there are alot of "fair weather anglers"(pack away as soon as autumn comes and starts back up in spring as fishing is easier). All venues fish differently. Having a well stocked lake helps. It's worth just going and watching the lake. Yesterday had 27 fish. Mostly off the surface which most venues surface action stops for winter until spring. My season ticket venue I've never caught during the summer but always in winter. Catching 3 early march inc the lake record at 34.02lb and 1 in December
  13. If I was using different sized baits like particles, a pellet mix or something to cloud the water I'd spomb it out. Boilies I'd just be catapulting but have to be mindful the spomb spooks fish on some venues. For example I fished a new venue for 48hrs last summer (few acres) and was spombing my bait out n never had anything. After about 24hrs the owner came to see how I was getting on. I'd not caught nothing at this point when he said as soon as they hear the spomb hit the water they disappear off down the other end of the lake. Stopped spombing and recast to a area where and finished the session on 2 fish. Recasting depends on method I'm using, I also never fish with all my rods on the same spot. I'll cast a method feeder around or small sticks of pva leaving as little bait as possible in that area but if I've baited a area I'll stick it out maybe bring my rig in every 2-3 hrs to add a bit of attractant. I've lost count of how many times I've baited a area n had no luck after a hour or two so I've moved only to see fish showing on the spot I've just moved from. Plastic baits can work all year round imo especially if your fishing them over same type of particles. Can also soak them in a attractant as they take on flavours pretty well. If there's no signs of fish I generally go for some overhanging trees as they like to hold up in snaggy areas and whichever part of the lake catches the most sun as long as it's not too shallow.

    February catch reports

Spent the day surface fishing yesterday. Had 27 scrappy torpedo carp. Don't get many places they take off the surface in winter but this place never fails
  15. Thats the one in Essex and they closed Kent but they had a few stores Hope they're not gone as they're where I get my favourite bait from. Don't want to have to start looking for a new bait
