Not a new purchase for me but my mate got his future son Inlaw a hot water bottle for a trip this weekend Sadly he didn’t do the stopper up enough and woke up in the early hrs with a wet sleeping bag 😳 ended up sleeping with a black plastic bag around legs and feet

In my younger days I would be sea fishing all times 3 tides a week sometimes 4 if the cod were in, dig the worm low water and fish the tide up and down I had an arrangements with a mate who managed a butcher shop he would take all of the cod and swap it for meat. Talking of butchers shops where have they all gone used to have 4 of them in the high street now it’s the metros like Tesco and others that sell the meat. 😏

What happened to all the Sticky baits you had ?

Not to sure about match fishing but generally Fishing can be cheap or expensive it’s your choice all depends on how deep your pockets are. The basic gear that a beginner has to start the sport with is incredible value for money for the carp and course angler But the day ticket waters that hold large carp can be costly, great if you can join a club with lakes near you tho. I used to fish the Linear waters regularly but it was getting to expensive and to hard to find the time… 48 hr ticket is £66 for 3 rods now 🙄 add the share of the fuel and bait = around £100 ish, lucky I’m on a syndicate 15 mins away from my home which cost £350 a year

Got my total for the maggs from this guy he seems to look like the right sort of guy to count a pint of the maggs

0 Multiple the above number by the 7 pints I fed works out around 30,954 …thank god for spoding 😏

I can remember the 1s time I used maggots was on a 48 trip cat ice in the margins with 1/4 of the lake frozen over. I had half a pint of old maggots that were almost past their sell buy date, with 3hrs to pack up time put a maggot rig in a bag with a handful of maggs and bingo a low 20, nx cast a mid double… me and my mate was gobsmacked 😳 The most maggots Iv used was almost a gallon on a prolific runs water

Happy birthday week ouch that’s a great present 👍 Talking of presents, On my 40th birthday I opened my card from the Mrs and two air tickets for Amsterdam dropped out 😳 now me and a mate have always made it known for years we wanted to go and I couldn’t wait to tell him we were finally going thanks to my lovely other half. …but ( why is there always a but ) but over a birthday lunch as I was staring into space, daydreaming what me and my mate were gonna to get up to I came crashing down to earth when I realised what the good lady had been saying for the last 5 minutes that she will have to get her hair done and would defo have buy a new outfit for the trip 😏 To be fair we had a great time and me and my mate managed to go for my 50th

Two things spring to mind when I gaze at the lovely pics…one if I had a bite il be out of breath by the time I managed to get to the rods and two that is a proper bait boat ! 😉

I use a 12ft 3.25 rod for my marker and it doubles as my spod rod on large waters, It’s a old rod with a tippy action you could say it’s a freak of a rod light in hand and wafer thin and can handle medium spods easily iv used it at 24 wraps using braid on the reel. On your water the rods you got would handle a medium spod easily 👍as long as your line is not to thin in diameter The water I’m on at the mo I use 10ft 3.50 rods 35mm mono line on the reels and I can tell when I’m on silt or hard clay but using braided line is better. I also spod with my rods Good luck catching your 20lb plus Carp 🤞…let us know how you get on 👍

Went yesterday before the bad weather kicked in just a 5 hour trip with a mate who’s just getting over the flu he hadn’t been out of his house for two weeks. Light feeder rod and small cage feeder had 5 carp but no tench… but more importantly my mate got out in the fresh air and had fish.

Luckily it was barbless, but what was frightening was the sight of my mate coming at me with a pair of rusty forceps and asking if can use my glasses to help get it out….this is my third piercing fishing incident 🙄
