Moved 4 times today, first spot on the 9 acre lake got done by the birds so moved further down, so I've set up found a clear spot, some guy has set up opposite me so had to move as I was fishing into his water. The 3rd swim I got to didn't last long as I was getting the rods out and started moving my kit I started to find ticks on my rod sleeves and quiver? No idea where they came from but it spun me out so moved down to the 4 acre lake, I'm quite happy with the spot I'm in as it's the one I've been recently fishing. There's a lot of fizzing going on over the spot I baited previously and there's a few fish showing in this bay so I've stuck 3 singles out over the spot, if it doesn't produce tonight I'll put some more bait out but for now I just want to keep the disturbance to a minimum lol. What a day, feels good to have a beer π€£2 points

Hey crusian π I had a bit of trouble with mice in the past in the shed, all bait was stored in metal bins with lids and I was catching a mouse a day using a trap called little nipper higher recommended π. I told the Mrs the story and she piped up must be the big box of grass seed she put in there π Traps are set all year round for me2 points

I "lost" a bedchair a few years ago in my garage. My current version is hung up on a wall to prevent a repeat. I spilled some hemp once and noticed that I was getting some visitors. Like Nick, I put a few traps down and nipped it in the bud. I keep virtually all my seed and pellets in strong plastic screw buckets and that seems to keep them at bay. Don't give them a reason to visit and clean up any food items straight away. I worked for a pest control Company for a few months (probably the job I hated most, mostly down to the people I had to work with) but I did take away that you have to be careful with breakneck traps. They should be fine in a garage but exercise caution if using them outside as you don't want to injure non-target species. These include birds, pets and children!2 points -

That's great news and a sign of a good company. The last thing they want is an unhappy customer.2 points -
Specimen Carp Waters - West Midlands - holding 25lb+ fish
elmoputney reacted to SJPR for a topic
Cuttle Mill - Sutton Coldfield Barston Lakes - Solihull Larford Lakes - Stourport Shatterford - Kidderminster Bells Mill - Stourbridge Terry's Pool @ Earlswood Lakes - Earlswood Alvechurch Fisheries Specimen Lake - Alvechurch Arrow Meadow syndicate lakes - Various locations (9 lakes) Bishops Bowl - Leamington I'm trying to get a list together of proper specimen lakes in the West Midlands area as we've not long moved back to the area. I'm not really looking for lakes that have a few big fish and loads of singles & lower doubles, i'm looking for proper specimen waters to bivvy up on for a few nights at a time. If anyone has any more lakes to add the the above list i'd appreciate it.1 point -
Defeated and birds
salokcinnodrog reacted to jh92 for a topic
Feeling a bit defeated this morning, no fish and got absolutely done by bird life yesterday, had swans, coots and ducks smashing my spot, they kept picking up my rigs and dropping them off the spot, pulling pop offs etc. Probably redone each rod about 10 times yesterday I couldn't keep one in the water π€£ Packed up this morning and drove round to the other lake, just having a look now, the spot I normally fish is free, i could jump in there but I really cba π€£π€£π€£1 point -

Ok, so, i had a bit of a reccy and found it (see attached image) - but its no longer a carp fishery.... its a Wellness Centre calls Watersedge. It's actually dead opposite the lakes at Vale Golf Club. https://www.watersedge.club/ I might call them and try to find out a bit more about it, see if they might let me fish it π1 point -

Always about! I used to set traps in my garage when I lived on Old Norwich Road between Ipswich and Claydon, the darn things would get into the dog and bird food bins even in summer. Maybe it was because we were on the edge of the country, but they could be a pain. I've had traps go off within 5minutes of setting them.1 point -
Gardner ATTS 6 magnet roller wheels?
elmoputney reacted to OldBoy for a topic
I also have the ATTs alarms, have done for many years and love the simplicity of them π Mine have been on 4 magnets and tbh not sure it makes a lot of difference if you were to swap to the 6 magnets? As for zigs, not much experience in recent times, do remember on Horseshoe Lake (Carp Society) years ago when zigs meant using a floating bait on surface, cork balls, and using optonic alarms most takes would be fairly violent or drop backs, wouldn't worry to much about the changing to 6 rollers mate1 point -

Yeah i saw the website and emailed the contact on there, but it bounced back, just thought i'd see if anyone on here knew anything about it. Theres an old thread on here from 2015 about it, but everything i can find is very much out of date....1 point -

I promised myself that I would stick with just a couple of tubs of pop-ups to match bottom baits, so now I have The Nutty Bait pop-ups in yellow, pink, original, my Spice Garlic pop-ups in pink, Monster Crab in purple and original, KMG in original. So far I've avoided the pineapple yellow fad again... Glad you got that sorted. Better to give constructive complaint and get it refunded than fester in your mind.1 point -

Some fox rage gloves, a selection of halibut pellets from 3mm to 30mm and some rig tubing. My son who's never really shown an interest in fishing want to catch a catfish. The nearest local for catfish requires you to have gloves and tubing if fishing for cats, so I'll give these a go.1 point -

Fair enough thanks for sharing. Have you looked at proper job pop ups, if I could only use one it would be these tbh. KLS in washed out pink a personal favourite, but tbh on their day they all work. I have tried and own lots of pop ups(I have a bit of a problemπ) and now the only ones I take are proper jobs and innovate bait.1 point -

March catch reports
yonny reacted to elmoputney for a topic
It was tight to begin with so pulled 3 or 4 beeps and the tip was bouncing, so I knew it was on, was weird how little I felt because of the lead though, I didn't see it before it beeped as I was trying to pack up lol but a pleasant disturbance none the less π1 point -
March catch reports

And finally I get to join in a catch report. I've been trying to come to terms with zig fishing for the last few sessions, probably a bit late to the party but finally it's paid off, saw a showing fish at range and pinged one at it last ditch attempt, but as the lead hit the water a few seemed to be disturbed, so I chucked another one at them too, finally after a night of fishing like a bit of a noddy, I was in, i had tried fishing on the deck, spodding over zigs, and all I needed to do was put one in the right place, it was too close to hometime to really do much about it but finally I can catch em on zigs. strange fight on the zig as the lead didn't discharge, I was petrified lol but luckily my mates son came along at the right time to help me net it and photo it. But I've done it I've caught one on a zig,and a nice one too buzzing1 point -

Too complicated! Just stick with CLO, liver powder, acid casein, LT94, and add some semolina, (10%), maybe 2grammes of each GLM and krill meal. Any flavour you use, no more than 5ml in 6eggs, and 25millilitres of hemp oil.1 point
