I just can’t bring myself to buy any OMC gear because of the stupid names they call their items “oh I bought a touch me up today” lol imagine the stinky winky you would get in the pub…4 points

I agree. I did get the option to receive a paper license this year and went for it..... same artwork as last year 👎. Obviously clearing stocks. I've saved every paper licenses since the Miller art started. At some point I plan to get them all in a frame, will make a nice edition to my carp room.3 points

I got checked for the first time ever last year, it has got expensive, but it's still only 5ltrs of olive oil, half a tank of diesel, probably 7 or 8 pints of beer at a pub, and over 4 x national minimum wage and about the price of cooking a roast on a Sunday with the heating on low. The only thing we need now are wages, pensions and benefits to catch up and we will all live happily ever after.2 points -
Slip D Rig
commonly reacted to elmoputney for a topic
With my spinner rig becoming pretty much completed and I don't think there is anything more that can really be done with it. I'm a bit bored of it now,😬 Time for a new challenge. I'm going to only use slip d rigs from now and see where that takes me, something Kev said got me thinking about all the clutter on rigs so I thought it might be nice to lose some of it, and go back to basics. I'm going to start with a shrink tube kicker and probably a wide gape as I felt that looked pretty good when I tied some up the other day. I like the fact I can get some seperation and also have a nice low pop up. I tied some up using a coated braid but, one thing I do like about my. Spinner rigs is the use of stiff boom material ironically called Boom. So I will try and incorporate that at some point. Once I've played some more I will add some pics and stuff1 point -

Just found 3 more Shimano Beastmaster 7000 XTA's on the ebay. Decided to get them so I can have the same reels on my 12ft 2.75lb TC Enduro's as I have on my 3.25lb The Ones. It also means that I can get one set properly serviced.1 point -

If you fished on the rivers you might catch the plague or something these days, all the faecal matter being dumped into them by privatised water companies, ruining the utilities whilst making gross profits for shareholders, and yet when they go belly up we will have to bail them out again with tax payer funding. I'm not sure what the rod licence really does either.but it hasnt maintained our waterways, they always flood now because they never seem to dredge thema keep the drains clean. Nowadays the ouse seems flooded for a 3rd of the year. Whag a country this is, ruled by parasites of the working class.1 point -
It still winds me up tbf. I've paid probably tens of thousands in tickets over the years and not once have I seen any syndicate I've been on benefit from license fees. I had a club ticket for the past few years which I thought made the license fee easier to swallow but even then I saw nothing. If I fished the rivers then I'd think the license is a bargain but I don't. Imo your average carp angler sees nothing from license fees. It's just another tax. I've only been checked once in the last 25 years. It was the 1st of April about 10-15 years ago, on a day ticket place, and I hadn't had time to renew (schoolboy error). To be fair to them they checked my history on their little tablet thingy and saw I'd had a license continuously for years. They let me get the license online there and then. Got a letter a while later saying no action taken. Fair play to them.1 point

I won't be happy until I'm out of someone else's rule and working for myself again. It sucks being a number but it's paying the bills while I get myself and a plan together 👍1 point -

The past 4 years I actually haven't been checked, although much of my fishing has been on the syndicate. When I was fishing Alton Water up to 2020, the local bailiff knew me and my dog so would always know that I had one. He'd get to the swim and the licence was in hand. For years I was getting checked in Essex and Suffolk, often a couple of times a year. Sad that the licence has gone paperless, I did like the David Miller art. Being disabled I get the concessionary rate for 3 rods. As @framey says, don't go anywhere other than gov.uk to buy your licence.1 point -
General warning ⚠️ Be careful when buying a license as there are plenty of bogus sites you can buy direct from the gov website.1 point

Not sure if I used @yonnyphoto class to its max, but it was piddling down, I had the camera in the bivvy and just went for it. Turned out pretty well I think, Thanks to @Higham1987for the night spodding advice. I redid the rods this morning with a fresh pop up on a classic Elmo spinner rig, fired about 20 more baits with a pult and 10 minutes later this was the result. Naturally I used mollasses in the spod mix and this 29lb 8oz common was the result I had worked so hard for. Confidence is king.1 point -
